again i’ll point out that for every poor signing lambert has made there has been benteke, guzan, vlarr, and baccuna and all of these cost pennies premier wise, if more money were made available then I believe he’d sign a decent player.
our strengths are playing counter attacking football, its no good us trying to pass the ball about like arsenal and Bayern because we don’t have the quality to do that and we’ll get fucked over much like wigan did under Martinez. ‘they lost again but didn’t they play(or try n play)some lovely football’ I believe they’re currently 14th in the championship.
its not pretty at the moment I know but I do think we will find the balance but we do need investment, we’re not going to find the quality we need for under 10mil in the current transfer climate n I think seeing anything in jan is going to be unlikely 🙁

There has to be balance, we are Aston Villa and not Wimbledon FC, I don’t think anybody expects us to play like Barcelona with the players we have at our disposal but you have to remember Lambert bought them! He knew the abilities weaknesses so the buck stops with him.

as for baccuna, id have to disagree mate, he’s had on poor game and made one howler(against west brom)but has for me been head and shoulders above lowton this season.

How about playing them both down the right?

id like to see that like many of us, I think one o the reason our FB’s struggle is because they have no midfield cover, the fb’s are required constantly to push high up to provide support for the attack yet when the opposition pick up the ball in their own 3rd there’s no one there to stop them taking it right up to the final 3rd and if the FB’s have been on the attack they’re found out of position.
I think baccuna would provide some cover which would help lowton, luna gets constantly exposed, I don’t think its always his fault as he gets no cover at all from the likes of wiemann on the left.

Lambert on Lowton last season “”He was all right but Matt Lowton was the best player on the pitch by an absolute mile.”
From hero to zero in less than 12 months? Someone’s egos involved here it just don’t ring true and if history is anything to go by I’d say it isn’t Lowtons.

Bit of a strange one lowton falling down the pecking order.normally if fit he played.obviously lamberts seeing a different side to him.i certainly would push baccuna up the park more.oh well i ain’t the manager.

Agreed bws. I think youve nailed it on there mate. PL does strike me as the kind to have his favorites and not so. Also the kind that if someone steps out of place an inch they’re punished. Refer to the ‘bomb squad’

Sounds like bloody school. Lowtons in the corner with a pointy hat on mate.

He fell out with the Chairman at Norwich, I think he left Colchester under a bit of a cloud so I think we can safely say he can be a bit of a surly, petulant bollox when the mood takes him.

According To the B’ham Mail Lambert’s supposed to be looking at another 6ft 2 striker Piotr Parzyszek, what is it with Lambert and strikers?

Hope not. Would like to see a quality midfielder. Could transform the team. I’m getting a bit worried about our form. We could easily slip into trouble

Good news but that Hernadez usually does for us. Would be nice to turn them over but doesn’t look likely with our home form

True but their defense looks terrible, they have 1 good fullback in Rafael and I can’t see Gabby having all that much trouble. Their midfield is even worse. Valencia’s been really poor as has Young. Really Rooney and Kagawa are probably United’s biggest weapons and only real danger point as they’ll create a bit for Hernandez but for once I can see our defense doing semi-decent as Sylla should provide decent cover knowing nothing will come from United’s terrible midfield.

He needs dropping for albrighton against united. Or give Robinson a run out couldn’t be any worse. Can’t see us getting anything on Sunday and if we don’t the nerves will kick in and the fear of being near the bottom won’t help and I can see our form going to shit if I’m honest. At least united should play to suit us and we may see a shock. Another Saturday with no villa playing, going to be boring as fuck!

I’m not even going to get to see the game, as I have to work 🙁
Interestingly though, I’ve had a Derby fan, a nose and a couple of scousers tell me that they think we’ll do Man U, because they’re quite simply shite.
My first thought was to agree: I really see very little to be scared of and this is not the Man U of old.
But then I thought about the utter rubbish we play at home.

I doubt we’ll get anything, which pisses me off, as there will never be a better chance to undo the hoodoo we have against them at home.

On another front Randy Lerner has donated a million pounds to Acorns to celebrate 25yrs with the club. Bet he won’t get the same hype as Beckham got when he donated his wages to charity. Fuckin typical

im working too badger :/ and worst of all im off Saturday when im usually working, bah! :/
im concerned about this game too, I got a feeling we might get a pasting, I really hope im wrong and my predictions aren’t too great.
my concerns are we are without vlarr(we’ve conceded 4 goals in the game and a half he’s been missing)and the fact united have a run of 4 very winnable games coming up for the rest of December which would seriously put them in a good spot by xmas, the other top teams all play each other at least once in the next 4 games btw. united no doubt see this too and will be(or should be)well up for the 3pts.
my hope would be we get the 1st goal which would no doubt hammer their already low confidence they don’t seem to have the fight to come back like when fergie was there.

Also Paul Lambert has told the press Ashley Young does not dive…….Is he insane ???
