Three or four players gone this week; Who though?

Tony Xia

Tony Xia has been very chatty on Twitter this week, which can only be a good thing, although I have a nagging feeling it won’t last that long, because as is the way of things with Twitter, something will be taken the wrong way or the criticism will be thrown about should we not be doing as well as we all hope.

Until it does go pear-shaped though, I find his willingness to answer questions and keep us informed, very refreshing and we should make the most of it.

In today’s main tweet, our owner has revealed that he expects 3-4 players gone in a week or so and of course everyone is wondering who they’ll be.

“Trimming is needed & then will be new signings till window closes. 3-4 be informed next week to farewell the old days.”

It’s been noticeable that Gabby, Richards and Lescott are all supposed to be carrying injuries, but I’ll bet I’m not alone in guessing that at least two of the three will be on the list; if it’s not all 3 of them.
I’d guess the others might be Sinclair or Bacuna, although the latter has apparently played reasonably well during the friendlies and might have won himself a reprieve, as although he isn’t liked, the fact is he can play in a few positions, which makes him quite useful. Whether he’s any use in those positions is of course another subject altogether.

Then again, I could be totally wrong and we might simply be talking about fringe players who just aren’t going to make the grade.

We can hope the much maligned suspects are the ones, but whatever happens, it surely means we’re going to see a few players coming in, as Xia suggests.

One of them has to be a striker and I feel we should be pushing the boat out somewhat for this particular player because we need a bit of quality there; someone who can hold the ball up and be a focal point.
We also need someone who can get the ball into the box to take advantage of Gestede. Which is where you have to wonder where the service is going to come from.
Hence surely we’ll see another midfielder or two coming in?

I reckon the next 3-4 players coming in could well make or break our season and RDM has to get them right.
But we all know this, don’t we?
Indeed, I’ve seen a few comments where people think we won’t do any good until the team is mostly different to that we witnessed last season.
And it’s something I can’t disagree with.
It should be an interesting run-up to the start of the season.

God that’s two matches now I’ve used the word ‘win’ must be some sort of record.

Anyway goals by Sinclair, Hepburn-Murphy and Gardner. Interesting team RDM’s put out tonight.

Hopefully we get the £5 mil for Sinclair now he’s scored! Tbf we should be biting their hands at £2 mil he’s absolute gash. Gardner and Tshibola as the two central mids for me this season. Traore and Grealish out wide. Murphy and Ayew up top, get the ball to feet with players that are comfortable on the ball and exciting players to watch, then if needs be over the top for Murphy to Sprint on to. Can see us doing really well this season if I’m honest.

Amavi hasn’t kicked a ball either but he’s still our best left back what’s your point? Because they haven’t kicked a ball that means they’re going to be rubbish? Spouting negativity just to stir, your no supporter.

when you place low selling clauses on new recruits. you limit your chances on making profits and guarantee losses. how to run your business into the ground. name of lerners new BOOK available at all bad book stores.

we have some decent youth players coming through, i know most fans will want signings, but in our position right now, the signings we can make, players willing to join a championship side, aren’t leaps ahead of the current youths coming through.

gueyet was one of our better players (not great).
he was always going to leave even if we stayed in the prem.
when he joined he openly admitted he was using the club as a stepping stone.
    good riddance.

An old London Lion, still wedded to the idea of seeing the pre-season friendlies went to the Bristol Rovers and Nantes games. He thinks it will be a long hard season barring new signings. The plus points were the new keeper is better than Guzan and the youngsters, Green, Gardner and Hepburn-Murphy looked good. Grealish looked sharp. On the down side all the old lags who played looked exactly the same as they looked last season. It would be daft to expect different.

He was not impressed with a coachload of Villa at Nantes. The passengers were a mixture of pleasant people and yobs. Of the latter he said many were drunk and some got into fights with French police.

i hate being a negative poster, but ppl are believing in fairies if they think we can shift all the wasters from last season.i thought we would shift maximum of 5. that was sanchez guzan richards vertede sinclair. but richards and vertede deals av fallen through. i can’t see us adding more players until we shift some numbers.

i do believe we have some great kids coming through, some talented ones. its a gamble to rely on them for the entire season. but i think if we do have too, they will all come good and won’t let us down.

we are gonna be stuck with lesscott, gabby and richards these three i personally think are the bad apples from last season. i hope the new management have more balls and don’t allow them to run the show

    goood night god bless

Nath, I don’t like to be negative myself it pisses my off that the wasters are still hanging about. I know it’s going to be hard to shift them all, I believe we won’t move forward unless must of them are gone . As for the youngsters its time for them to step up to the mark.

We can get rid of all deadwood by sacking them or buying them out of their contract but would cost a lot of money. Having said that if we got promoted it would be worth it

If our new owner has as much money as he claims then he should buy a few out at least, then he can get in a few more that’s needed imo
I know that means taking a hit to start but in the long run Shorely it’s gotta be worth it!

two down HOW many more to go. both gana and guzan should have left by tomorrow at very latest, both undergoing medicals today. sinclair i think will be next after celtic dig deeper into the copper jar.

i think the players we should be rejoicing, when they leave are the players that we will be left with, gabby lescotts and richards, these players are in their minds best thing since sliced bread as they say. but they are toxic to everything a team need to be successful. they are out for themselves

I know he wants rid of a few first but is any 1 else getting a little nervous now about the lack of signings?? I was really excited when the first 3 come in, thinking right all systems go we mean business, but now I’m starting to feel like the winds been taken out of my sail a bit! I might be being a bit impatient but does it mean if we can’t get rid of the dross were gonna stick to what we have already? Christ I hope not

I’m a little concerned that we may be willing to sign Ravel Morrison.
Just a quick summary of the facts about him suggests that we should stay well clear.
Firstly, he was quoted as “being the best player I have seen at that age” by Sir Alex Ferguson when Morrison was 16.
Sam Allardyce said “That’s a genius goal for me. You’ll struggle to see a better goal than that all season” after he scored against Spurs in 2013.
Praise indeed from the best ever manager in British football and also from England’s newest saviour.
Why then, has Morrison only played a total of 70 games in six years ?
As far as I am aware, it has nothing to do with him being injured.
It is because of one reason only and that is his attitude.
Morrison, or Ravel as he likes to have on his shirt (says it all really), has one massive ego and, despite his undoubted talent, he has to change this side of his life if he wants to be a professional footballer for the right reasons.
I would have thought that Villa would have learned their lesson from all the “bad apples2 that undermined the squad last season. Trust me. Sign Morrison and it will end in tears
