Brighton – Villa; Hopeful is all I can say

It’s a bit last minute as I’ve been stood still on the M5 for half an hour and I haven’t really thought about what to think, if you know what I mean. You’d think I could have put that time to good use thinking about it, but it doesn’t work like that, does it? All you can think about is moving forward as soon as possible.

Anyway, because it’s late, it’s brief and for some strange reason, I think we’re going to win. I don’t know why, because our football is terrible to watch, but the facts are undeniable. We keep piling the wins up.
Betting against us is probably a daft idea.

Squad news then and Mings’ ongoing injury apart, the only concern is Ross Barkley, who tweaked something or other and could be out for up to three months from what I’ve read. He’s chasing a new contract. Would I give him one?
Not a chance. Couple this injury with his “personal issues” previously, there’s no way I’d do it, but it seems Emery is a lot more accomodating than me and to be fair, he has played pretty well for us.

As for Brighton. they’re not in such a good position. Adam Webster is a good few weeks away, while James Milner, Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March and Tom Watson are all at least a fortnight off.

I’m expecting Brighton to come at us and that should play into our hands, which is probably why they have a terrible record against us.
This isn’t going to be anything like that dreary Wolves game, where they played the low block. We’re frankly clueless against that tactic.

So assuming they do come at us, I can’t see anything other than a win.

2-1 to us then.

UTV!

  1. It’s unusual for me to be so positive, but I’ve been right for the last few weeks I think.
Fingers crossed and as much as me is hoping for a good game, as much as the result.
Winning is nice, but I like to enjoy the watching too.

  2. Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen, Kamara, Onana, McGinn, Rogers, Guessand, Watkins.

Subs: Bizot, Lindelof, Digne, Garcia, Bogarde, Tielemans, Buendia, Malen, Sancho.

  3. I see Martinez was I kites in the warm up. I hope this is not a bad omen.

    Come on you Villa

  4. Watkins. Rubbish again.
    And that’s 2-0.
    Not impressed at all.
We’re fucking rubbish, just as I’ve been saying for a while.

  5. Wow – what an end to the half. Thought we’d equalised, they go up the other end and mess up. And then before the camera has returned to the action Ollie has scored 2-2

    What a mad game

  6. Get your rubbers out lads. Brill Ollie. Welcome back despite the fact that I think your useless

  7. Wow! 2-2 and I was thinking at 2-0 it was going to be one of those days where nothing goes your way.
Guessand needs to come off and sold in January because he looks like a pub player. Rogers has frustrated the hell out of me. But, Watkins scores and looks like his old self again, or is it just because it’s Brighton.
Useless camera man failing to show our second goal. Just before that, we should have had a penalty when their player handled after it came back off the post.
We can win this if we can keep the momentum. Shame the first half ended when we were on top!

    1. Guessand, agreed, but I’ll give him untill the end of the season.
Rogers, yes, frustrating at times, but also brilliant. That stonking run down the left touchline was ultimately unproductive, but we have noone else who could do that.
Quite rightly, England poster boy, imo.

Maatsen? Utter shite and I’ll keep saying it.

    1. Which part Gerry?
      Meanwhile Malen, first touch 4-2!
Unbelieveable. But Brighton have looked there for the taking, imo.

  8. Badger and friends

What a win! Typical Villa making it hard for themselves. Yes there are parts we can and will improve upon. But we won and we roll on.

All praise to Emery – what a manager.

  9. Phew! What a great win. When they got back to 4-3 my heart rate was sent through the roof.
It looks like we are 3rd now Chelsea are losing 3-1. Maybe the media might start to talk about us 😏
Arsenal up next at VP and we need to get at them. We owe them one for upsetting our home record last season.

  10. Keep going under the radar
Talk bout the over spending cheating boys from Chelsea
    Maresca will be sacked soon
Anyhow what a performance from the minute Olie got his 1st
Only weak link for me tonight was
    Guesand
    Keep the run going

  11. Forgot to mention our travelling supporters who were magnificent and definitely inspired the team.

  12. December: it is Pantomime season here in the South, so off to the Amex – more dykes than Amsterdam.
A twist in the plot even before the curtain went up when the house manager announced ‘The goalkeeper this evening will be played by Marco Bizot.’ As we guessed, the hapless stand-in f***s up the first cross – waving as the ball flew over him and was duly buried. Then the Handsome Prince tries to help but deflects a cross past Bizot. 2-0 and all those ice creams to sell at the interval. Time for an unlikely hero, Ollie, and some audience participation. “You couldn’t score in a brothel!” from the left side “Oh yes he can!” from the right side, and he did – twice. 2-2 just to thicken the plot.
The second act – kids waiting for the Beanstalk when he appears suddenly at the far post and nods in 2-3. A wave of the wand, the magician conjures the Dutch sub who scores with his first touch 2-4. All over? Are you kidding? The plot has one more turn as the enemy fire in their third, to keep the audience on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. Beats football on a cold night.

    1. Brilliant comment but you forgot one final twist when fairy godmother waved her wand and bizot flew through the air to tip over a certain headed goal from wellbeck that wiped out his mistake at the beginning.
Fantastic game for a neutral agony for a fan.
I think that’s best league game since they beat Liverpool with 7 goals. What a time to be a villa fans, best since 81/82.
At last they didn’t bottle the job. Arsenal next can they possibly do it but afraid they used up to much energy tonight.
Also like to say how good bogart was when he came on.
      Whoopee utv

      1. Some great comments there 🙂
We were talking about Bogarde earlier. Great player.
Mr consistent and every chance he’ll go on to play for England and become a real top player.

        1. Apart from the fact he’s Dutch 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😀. Yeah, Bigot saved our 3 points with that late save!
          Olllliiieeeeee!!!!!!!

U know, if we stuff the Gooners, we’ll be 3 points off top spot!!!!

  13. Leave Mr Guessand alone – he needs time to adapt to the Prem as Badger and me were discussing yesterday. I thought he looked better when he moved more central.

And it may have passed you by that he had an assist for Ollie’s first goal and Malen scored when the GK could only palm out Guessand’s header.

He may not be a world beater but he played his part in another great TEAM performance.

    Brilliant – UTMV
