Villa 1- 2 Spurs; Another home loss

So I sneaked out of work early to make sure I could at least watch the second half of the game, only to find that the site had gone down again.
Pulling my hair out, I got in touch with the site host and they rebooted the services, which got the site up again.
Hopefully things will be ok now, but rest assured, if there are further problems, they’ll only be temporary. We’re not going anywhere.

Anyway, the truth is because I was trying to sort the site out, I didn’t actually get to see much of the game.
What I did see though, looked reasonably encouraging, as we were working hard as per usual.
Until Benteke got sent off.

I didn’t see what happened beforehand (if anything), but it seemed to me Benteke blatantly shoved the opposition player in the back and there was some retaliation.
Then the argy-bargy started and importantly, I thought one of the Spurs players all but head-butted Benteke, which is what led to the big fella shoving him in the face.
Once you do that though, there can only be one decision and the red was correctly given, if the ref hadn’t seen the near head-butt.

What a choker, as not only have we lost this game, but it means we miss Benteke for the next three games.

And then it all went to script really, didn’t it?
Gabby doesn’t even bother tracking his man from a corner and Chadli sneaks around the back for an easy goal.
And then Kane scores from a free kick, albeit with a massive deflection from Baker which left Guzan stranded.

That’s six defeats on the trot; the worst record in seven years, I believe.
It just seems like nothing whatsoever is going right for us and it’s very hard to swallow.

So many questions about the situation as a whole. What is the score with Jores Okore ? One week he is on the bench, the next he is not even in the squad. Next ,Gabby no doubt loves Villa but without pace, which he has definitely lost, he offers nothing. Why doesn’t Lambert take a chance with Jack Grealish ? Nothing to lose in my opinion. Will he give Darren Bent a start whilst Benteke is suspended ? I don’t think he fits in to Lambert’s insistence on counter attacking football but at least he has a clue where the goal is. Why was Lambert given a four year contract after two poor seasons ? Just because we beat Liverpool with our only chance of that match. Finally, what will Lerner do now ? If he still wants to sell the club it is hardly in the best state to do so. If he is staying put he stands to lose a lot more with us in the championship. Both of these mean only one thing. Lambert must go. I, for one, would like to see David Moyes in charge. I believe he was on a hiding to nothing from the start at United. With what he did season in season out at Everton, we might just be the right sort of club for him. Can you think of anyone else at the moment ? He has got to be better than Pulis.

We need a tactically astute manager. We don’t need another one trick pony like Moyes. Must look for a continental manager who I think could get the best out of the players at our disposal. These players are playing the system imposed on them by Lambert and Co. It hasn’t been working for over two years now. A good coach could get these players playing football. Look at Southampton. We all thought they would be fucked after the players they lost in the summer. Lambert out !!!!

So many things wrong. Weimann seemed to be playing nearer the centre alongside Benteke a lot of the time. Nothing wrong there but CNZ was wandering in from the right as well so their left back had the freedom of that wing to attack and get at Lowton. The left side wasn’t much better defensively. I have come round to the idea of Pulis as he would sort a lot of that out. If he could get the clear instruction (like Allardyce seems to have been given) to then play with a bit more flair then maybe that will be a good move.

I can’t see Lambert lasting another couple of defeats, and with Benteke sidelined again this looks on the cards.

I really don’t know what we need, but change has to come, and I just hope that when it does Lerner gets it right for once. Maybe Fox could be important here.

Lambert needs to go ASAP. At this moment in time anybody would do a better job then Lambert . We are not a big club any more, in my opinion I think Pullis would get us out of the shits. But I think this Dick is here for a while, I hope not.

CRAP……….the thing about the Villa loosing 6 on the trot is that apart from Chelsea all the rest were terrible….all were there for the taking as non of them could make a couple of passes on the trot.
It just shows how crap we are……the 3 we have won shows that at the time they were much worse than us as we were just the same……..the really bad team we played were Liverpool……more problems than us as they play well and loose most times.

I cannot get over Abonglahor attitude in the game he’s suppose to be a Villa fan, has anyone seen the way he’s gone over the last few years, waits, and watching, not working for the team, he’s not the only one, we have Grealish, Gardener, all could show better willing in a team, OK Benteke did a stupid thing, but you could argue he got frustrated with his team players, he wanted more, Abonglahor was dropped to that bench because its seen he gets idle in the game, so what’s that saying? Players don’t respect the manager, and shirt, we should have off load 8-10 players in that closed season and got in end of contract players in and paid the money.

Steve didn’t you see him again with their first goal at the near post? He failed to mark the man that was his, if you see a video it clearly showing him watching that goal, now to me he fell away again. He constantly drifts in and out of a game.

Bill i think Steve is saying that he had his best game on the bench. As a joke. Gabby offers nothing to villa it was his fault for the goal not picking up his man.

Thanks Dave, blame it on my age. Two seasons ago we did have this very same discussion, I met his best mate in a pub and told him to tell Abonglahor he’s like what he is now, piss me few games later he got an hat trick. I’d like to see that guy again

He is Ajax’s manager, yes. Unfortunately finding someone willing to leave their club at this stage is unlikely. Might have to go for the best free agent currently until the summer.

Still don’t think we’ll go down fortunately as there are teams that are sadly just as bad as we are who can still go down. Although I agree after 6 losses, fact he’s still here is a disgrace, any free agent manager would be better than him and could probably keep us up.

I think we have reached the stage Helenius where we are willing to accept almost any change. I mentioned Pulis earlier as many have before. It would not be an exciting choice for me but I accept it would be a big improvement. Given his recent experience at Palace it’s quite possible he wouldn’t take the job anyway. I actually think Lerner would be prepared to pay Lambert off to ensure Prem survival, but I don’t think anyone of any merit would take the job with the club up for sale and the likelihood that there would be little cash available for transfers.

Doubtless there are much better candidates out there but I think it would be wishful thinking to expect any of them to turn up at VP.

Agree Bill but saying that I wouldn’t want Laudrup well not in our present position. Perhaps if he had time and money but at the moment both of these are in short supply at VP so that imo leaves a short list of 1… Mr Pulis.

I fcan see a role for Miss Lambert at VP. Since her father believes “she can punch harder than Benteke” perhaps she can be given Roy’s seat on the Bench. Then if she whacks Daddy every time his team passes backwards, shoots wide or lets a goal in – he might start getting the message.

Elsewhere, our U-21’s lost 5-0 at Newcastle.
There was one other thing, what was it now, oh yes, Paul Lambert is STILL in charge.
There’s always our 7th consecutive defeat on Saturday to look forward to.
