Well, the whole theme of this was going to be about how poor we are.
But we did look pretty good for a while, a period which started with Bacuna hitting the post, with Ayew scoring from a decent shot, albeit it was deflected.
Unfortunately that period only lasted five minutes, so the general theme still stands.
You mention any negative you like and we demonstrated it tonight.
We lacked creativity, we lacked guile, we lacked craft, we lacked dynamism, we lacked skill, we lacked desire, we lacked quality, we lacked direction and most importantly we lacked confidence.
Fair enough, you could probably leave Ayew out of that, as he looked pretty good, but overall the rest of it was so poor I just had the feeling that we’re going down this season.
For once I got the score right so it wasn’t entirely unexpected, but it was the nature of the performance that disappointed me and we frankly look a team in disarray.
I didn’t really want to talk about Remi Garde, as I was hoping to write something about him tomorrow, but I’m afraid I’ll be amazed if he can turn this team around.
I think the one thing that worried me about his appointment, even more than having no Premier league experience, is the fact that he has no experience in dragging a squad by the scruff of it’s neck and changing it’s mentality; something I think that’s needed.
The Sky pundits are suggesting we looked better in the second half, but when you consider we were truly awful in the first half, it’s really not saying much.
I think we’re doomed and I just hope that Lerner and Fox appointed Garde with a view to getting us promoted.
On that performance I don’t think we have a hope in hell of staying up.
I wish someone would chin LERNER.
I know everyone is pi**ed of with current situation – me no less than anyone else but just tearing into everyone isn’t going to save anything.
Garde hasn’t even walked through the door at BMH and his appointment is being questioned by all insundry but I have yet to see an alternative suggestion that 1. Is realistic and 2. Is actually available and who would join us. It doesn’t matter who we appoint at this stage they are on a hiding to nothing.
My knowledge of Garde is limited to what I read in the press ( good article on BBC web site by a French journalist) but I applaud the guy’s guts for taking it on and for that alone he deserves the full support of every Villa fan.
*solve anything
Hitch all I can say is this new bloke must have confidence in his abilities to take this job on or he needs sectioning.
Couldn’t agree more Giddy. The thing is if you look at his background and experience (admittedly in France) then he has worked his way through academy, coach, assistant manager and manager – he worked with Houllier at Lyon. He is the antithesis of Sherwood and,if, as posters on here thing, Villa have a decent squad then I think this guy is as good as any to get the best from them. If we don’t (have enough quality) then it doesn’t matter who comes in as manager -.we’re right royally f****ed 🙂
I’m trialling a like/dislike button that might prove, er interesting 🙂
General feedback would be appreciated, particularly colour and position, cheers.
In fact, just try it and let me know via the buttons if you can’t be bothered to comment.
BADGER I was just about to contact you about it,thought there was something wrong with the site.
This should be interesting…
My thoughts exactly Marvin 🙂
Giddy, have you noticed any difference on a mobi?
Does it slow things down at all?
No problems yet????
Loads correctly on my mobile at least – no real lag time.
We’ll have to run a league of like and dislikes, I’d win that.
Cheers chaps.
Bill, you can actually do that with this widget, but I’m not interested in tracking anyone, so have turned it off.
It’s just something that I’ve found useful as an indicator on other sites.
Fwiw, I think it makes the replies look a tad cluttered and distracts slightly from the actual wording, but I think I can get used to it, although I might look into reducing the size.
It’s all about interaction, which apparently is the way to go 🙂
And it will prove useful if, say, you’re on a mobi and don’t have time to post a reply.
Great Addition Badger, love the like/dislike – At the moment most of us are a bit tired of the Villa and sometimes we just don’t have the effort to write anything but agree.disagree with someone – I hope this makes sense !!!
It does. Cheers mate.
Badger understand mate, don’t want Oohah running away with being the winner.✌
Strangely enough Bill, I’ve just asked Oohah to let me know if I should disable the “dislike” button 🙂
I’m sure he’ll be man enough to take it.
Just like to say, I’m on a mobile due to smashing my tablet when Villa lost to Southampton in anger. Oh happy days.????
I know that feeling, although I haven’t gone that far yet.
Here’s hoping things improve mate.
really surprised we haven’t seen gabby’s retirement from football after the piss taking on sly sports last night he cant get another chance surely, also did you get to see the ref celebrate the first goal last night
Having watched the game last night only 1 new signing in the starting line up. Why not start with GIll on the bench!! E
We looked much better when he came on.
I personally would drop Guzan, Hutton and Gabby as all three are not good enough.
Hutton can’t cross a ball, Gabby 8 touches of the ball says it all and Guzan well his performances say it all. I thought after conceding after 3 minutes we not only gifted Spurs a lead but then found ourselves chasing the game. We can take some positives from our second half performance ( GIll coming on) and build from that. I noticed Garde shaking his head a hope he was thinking the same as every VIlla fan at the moment ( What a shambles)
I still remain confident we can just about survive as I see a group of players when organised will beat teams around us. AS a season ticket holder I watched all our home games and although we’ve been poor the other teams have not been much better.
We all need to be positive and support the new manager. A couple of wins will bring confidence and lift us. Can’t see us beating Man City but there’s still a lot of games to come.
