Rumours are spreading fast that Randy Lerner will most likely sell Aston Villa at the end of the season and has already lined up two American investors. Lerner is looking to sell the club for a price of £200-£250million and rumours suggest that Aston Villa maybe sold to either a pair of Americans or a Russian Billionaire. Take over talks have been productive but ultimately, Aston Villa will only be bought if they successfully avoid relegation this season.
Aston Villa have been in decline ever since Martin O’Neill left the club in 2010 and since then Aston Villa have had financial issues linked with high player wages. Paul Lambert was brought in by Lerner to balance the books and since then Aston Villa have been buying cheap players for low wages in a hope that they will quickly adapt to the Premier League and make an impact.
In regards to the take over, it’s believed that these two potential American Investors hope to replicate Liverpool’s recent revival. Aston Villa may take up a new transfer policy of buying quality players but always younger than 25.
More information will surface about potential buyers and the take over itself. But the most important thing is for Aston Villa to avoid relegation, otherwise no one will be interested in buying our club.
if Robinson features then i think Lambert is only a figurehead until the end of the season
The part that makes me think this is horseshit is the threat that we have to stay up. If I was buying for a long term investment and the club went down, I’d simply deduct the money lost from tv revenue from the sale price, then aim to rebuild and get back up. It’s not as though we’ve loads of highly paid players anymore…
I think this is a ploy to shut fans up so Lerner can have another Premier league season on the cheap.
Spot on bum bum. Exactly what I think a smokescreen by the club to sell STs and get supporters behind the team instead of having a go at lamberk. Then they will just say rumours are bullshit but won’t care as people have committed to STs and Lerner has another season on the cheap.
You started believing it was a smokescreen as soon as the Daily Fail posted the article Lambert wants money (which was actually running months ago in other papers) and would believe anything bad about the club no matter how poor the source and how old it is.
It’s that old adage Andrew if something sounds too good to be true it usually is!
Right right, nothing good happens to Villa or Villa fans. We should start a “poor us” club.
I think it’s absolutely wrong to be honest. On a different note I have been very with Ian Robathan’s efforts to raise money for his daughter be a bike ride and other means. I have never been able to ride a bike properly and I also had a very unpleasant stressful learner driving experience last year with someone who was sexist and slagged me off for being unemployed, I also have an invisible neurological condition which is extremely difficult to raise money for
I think it’s safe to say we all have our own opinions on this. For me everywhere I’m reading is saying either this american duo will buy the club and give us some serious cash to splash.. or Lambert is gonna get extra cash this summer to buy targets he’s had “his eye on for a while” that cost “a bit more” than what we’ve got over the past few summers. So for me personally it’s a win win 😀 Either we get new billionaire owners or we’re gonna be paying more serious money than what we have of late 😀 now we just need to take our final games one at a time.
Why would Lerner release more funds when he dosnt need to. His sole aim is to stay up. So will spend 10-15m tops
do you know i think you would be really dissapointed if Lerner sells up
Would love him to sell as long as it’s to someone that has more ambition than just staying up. A lot of my mates are holding fire now on STs if we sell they will renew no matter who the buyer is they will get behind him.
I’ve heard the team will be:
Guzan
Bacuna Baker Vlaar Bertrand
Delph Westwood El Ahmadi
Albrighton Weimann
Agbonlahor
i doubt thats the team
i think he’ll go 4 this
guzan
lowton baker vlaar bertrand
delph westwood el ahmadi
bacuna
agbonlahor holt
My future is irrelevant, that is not an issue
Lambert said this yesterday and could be equally applicable to Lerner, Lambert defo off … think Lerner is, as when I said on here with the first news of debt/equity swap and many decried me …
even a busted watch is right twice daily
Jones academy director announces retirement , whether we are sold or not. This summer is going to see massive overall changes at Villa.
indeed that is true … you wonder if the timing of this is with some pre knowledge of events to come
Would make sense, as well as Jones has done with the academy, if we get new owners, it truly shows they might know what they’re doing in revamping the academy to match a new manager and the style they want.
Have seen rumours that the new owners are looking for a lower league club in Belgium and a club in the MLS, whether this is true i dont know
Like the Man City owners brought a club in Australia, need I tell you how much I hate that ?
You mean the fact City has conquered Australia’s youth market and any youth players who are going there? City won’t loan players to them because Australia’s a bit far and different and they can use European clubs, but they not only saved a club who were rock bottom and terrible and have made them so much better, but they get to use their academy to develop players, give fans something to cheer for.
Belgium is the best place to do it. They have a great young group of Belgians already, will continue to develop them, and they also have a few great young African/South American youth that could be developed in Europe.
MLS is a bit more interesting. The US youth teams are actually pretty good, not great, but good and if they can get 2-3 of them in a said academy, then can only be better.
But all rumours obviously.
yes all that. every true football fan should hate clubs being owned by the same person (see charlton) as it only makes the leagues more and more uncompetitive.
Udinese, Watford and Granada are all owned by the same owners. Last time I’ve read, Spanish fans like Granada and their unique set of players they bring in, Watford make the Championship more fun and Udinese are definitely a great team to watch.
“I read an article about taxation after divorce based on Lerner. I am no accountant but the gist was he needed to sell the Browns and Villa. Please do not ask me to elaborate”
Lerner apparently needed to sell one or the other.
He chose the Browns, which got him nigh on a billion dollars.
A nice fat profit, although I suspect his dad (who made the money in the first place and was the real brains behind the outfit, as Randy has achieved nothing himself) wouldn’t have liked it.
That’s what happens when you’re down to a paltry £3-400 million, I guess.
the other impact at the same time was the disaster slide in Bank of America shares on which the family fortune was based after selling MBNA.
at the same time the money then became cut …
you make your own call on it …
The article which i cannot post a link to because i cannot suss out the tablet i am working refers to high taxation due to estate tax in the US. Would this mean that the transfer of debt to the Lerner trust was to protect his family from paying massive tax bill on Villa should he die tomorrow. If he was to sell half of Villa the half he sold would be inhis name and not the Lerner trust. No accountant but i would say that was some clever juggling.
The article i read mentioned if he was to die and now that he is divorced. The value of the Browns and villa could leave his children with a massive tax bill. Even if he did not leave them any real money.
wasn’t the browns and villa owned by RLT which is a trust fund with his mother and sister who by all accounts were not impressed with the purchase of Aston villa
Yep and still the case, I think.
Randy probably has the calling shot, but has to listen to the family.
Who probably can’t be arsed with Randy’s flirtation with the Villa.
its all bull….there will be no take over,it is just to try and settle us down.
