So what do Lambert’s latest comments mean?

It seems Paul Lambert held a press conference yesterday. I don’t know why, as I’ve always assumed the weekly update usually happens on Fridays?

Anyway, the upshot of it was that no-one’s leaving. Or are they?

Here’s the Sports Mole take on what Lambert said, where they suggest that Ron Vlaar and Fabian Delph aren’t for sale. Notice, no mention of Gabby;

“I don’t think anyone will go without me saying so. Put it that way,” he told reporters.

“I think the lads are happy here and want to get going again. Things will happen with those lads in the next little bit. It will take course through the season.”

The Evening Mail quotes the same words, but doesn’t give the same “hands off” impression; more suggesting that we’ll look at their contracts.
And that article mentions Gabby.

How does that work then?
I thought we had an embargo on contracts, unless it’s the kids?
What things will happen with those lads in the next little bit? What will take course through the season?

I’m totally confused, as is per usual with Lambert’s comments.
So what happens if Randy Lerner says “sell”?
Will Lambert really say “no”?
I doubt it very much.

I think we’re being fed a line here.
I don’t believe for one minute that we’d be looking to sign these players up on new contracts as things stand, with Lerner desperately wanting out.
So if we get a good offer, I’m guessing they’re gone, simple and the money will go straight in Lerner’s pocket.
Unless there is a sale definitely in the pipeline, where Lerner and Lambert already have an inkling of how a serious prospective buyer might be thinking??

No, I’m going to stick with my usual “Lambert talks a load of proverbial”, attitude.

We need a complete revamp from top to bottom. Lerner, Faulkener and Lambert have combined to make a complete mockery of the club. The sooner they are all gone the better. Then we can start to rebuild-with the players that want to be at Villa.

watching vlaar last nite and in other games sofar for the dutch team he seems 2 be more hands on. why is this ~ for villa he has standout games were hes brilliant, but they are few and far between, if he stays he has to be more commanding like hes been in the orange shirt in everygame sofar

    1. Lamberk July 6, 2014 at 9:54 am . Reply

Difficult to be more commanding when you’ve got to cover for clowns like Clarke and Baker!

that had crossed my mind ~ but this upcoming season he cant have this excuse with okore and sendros likely to be his partner. if vlaar hangs around

Let’s not be like Oohah, Vlaar playing for his country plus has noted defender’s in front and left and right, I’ll stand by that man to build on, Oohah ostracized Vlaar from day one, his problems in mistakes was other players. Nath I know you know your football and made good comments, that one being OKore and Cole if he slips up then I’ll just fair away.

don’t get me wrong i like vlaar and think hes been good for villa. but i just put out there that in the orange shirt he is more commanding, seems 2b more influential, i see he still makes the odd mistake, like the penalty he should av conceded last nite

also i think if we can pair up okore and vlaar thats will be a good pairing. lowton on the right and HELP on the left. our defence has a stronger look about it, don’t u think bill

That’s the problem he still coukd of had holland knocked out last night with his errors. He also gave the ball away in first half with a dodgy clearance that led to cr nearly scoring. Makes too many unforced errors

          3. Bill Pearson July 6, 2014 at 11:39 am .

Oohah leave the man alone, yes he did foul in the box, what was Messie doing yesterday the very same do you have a go at the best player in the tournament, even the bloody ref turn away, Give Vlaar a break man at least they are further than we are as a country, Vlaar is the best we have back for once.

          4. OohAhPaulMcGrath July 6, 2014 at 8:29 pm .

He may be the best we have but that’s not saying much Bill. Messi is a forward not a defender what’s your point

          Sender-dross, your kidding right?
This guy has played for 70mins in the World Cup and without doubt has looked the worst centre-half in the tournament!
Even relegated Fulham shipped him out. Shocking signing.

          1. OohAhPaulMcGrath July 6, 2014 at 11:05 am .

Spot on lamberk dross by name dross by nature. Though I think Okore coukd be good

          2. nath July 6, 2014 at 11:15 am .

i never endorsed sendros i would say okore and vlaar as number 1 pairing. i saw a lot of fulham last year on the box, sendros is good defender if he plays deep. trouble starts when fulham press upfield high, sendros was always caught out, if hes back up then beggers cant be choosers.

my fears are the owner and his quest 2 sell us / if your a player would you come 2 villa knowing a new manager, will arrive soon as clubs sold. also come 12 months and lerners still here and lamberts contract ends, what manager would come to villa on basis of week by week contract or am i panicking to far ahead

Still makes too many unforced errors even in an orange shirt. Btw does anyone else think the wc is fixed in favour of big teams ie cr had a def pen turned down. Just like the prem with the sky four always winning and getting big decisions. Iv said all along Brazil will win as fixed in their favour IMO even without neymar who is so overrated its untrue.

i think ur on to sumat there ~ i have noticed the referees are biased towards Argentina and Brazil,

Shame really but all big teams in football seen to get the big decisions. Ever since fergie got that 10 mins of extra time which effectively cost us the league iv suspected it. Media and football establishment would never allow a team like us to win the league even if we did have big money to spend.

Defenders make defensive mistakes, forwards make forward mistakes by not taking their chances . .next ull tell me as it was 0-0 and the Dutch had loadsa chances both RVP and Robben are overrated.

Rvp is overrated Robben is class. The diff is vlaar makes more unforced errors than most through I’m looking fwd to dross challenging him on the mistakes front.

I for one would be sorry to see vlaar exit the club especially with what we’ve got as back up.I would love to see how things pan out with okore at his side instead of laurel & hardy making his job almost impossible.as for this chap sendeross OOHA you’ll have a field day ripping him apart.fucking dreading the New season.

Nice one Giddy, Oohah will be back on form, Nath I’ve noticed the refs are one eyed, it will got to a south american team mark my words, Europeans team are mark to go out.

Ashley young reported to have been offered back to Villa would Lerner pay his wages I would have him back in a shot

    1. nath July 6, 2014 at 1:28 pm . Reply

i very much doubt lerner paying his wages, 20k and begging united 2 pay rest of his wages, maybe the only way young returns for me

      1. OohAhPaulMcGrath July 6, 2014 at 8:35 pm . Reply

Just like Lerner to help fergie utd out by taking him back. Fuckin hope not

    2. OohAhPaulMcGrath July 6, 2014 at 8:34 pm . Reply

Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole plus his wages are well out of our league. All he does is cut in on the left with his right foot and either hits the cross straight out or never clears the first man. If he us not doing that he’s diving all over the place no thanks

I totally agree with this. I noticed it a few times in games. Too much politics and too much sponsorship money ruling the game (allegedly & IMO of course…)

Agreed and it’s a disgrace. At least in USA wrestling you are told it’s fixed in advance of spending your money. This season will be no different and the table will more or less mirror the previous ten years totally pointless. Not just in England worldwide at least in the 70s and 80s teams like us ipswich derby etc had a chance to win the league despite Liverpool’s dominance. The prem league and World Cup is one big con IMO

You should by now have noticed we are the most hated country in the world, any thing to do with sport, political, or being English, if you go abroad they like you for your money, not you, they play mind games better than us, me born here die here, every footballer from over the water is only here for the money same as the Yank that has our club, be British stay British , that’s my moto. This in answer to Deferenz.

Oh come off it Bill that is complete rubbish. So Britain was being nice to all of Europe when we had the euros all we wanted was their fans to come over preferably to London and rip them of as much as we can and send them home skint. British footballers like bale didn’t go to real for the money of course, beckham never went to USA either for money. Bill that’s tge biggest rubbish iv ever heard from you tbh

Right or Wrong? What do YOU think?
