So that’s it then, no buys

With me being on holiday, I’m a bit out of the loop and I’m not even sure what day it is to be honest.
But it’s apparent that now the window has shut we haven’t bought anyone.

Are any of us really surprised?
I can’t say I am really and it’s all a bit depressing to me.

We all know what’s seriously required, ie a decent attacking midfielder, someone who can unlock a defence, but yet again we haven’t got one in.
Why?
Does Lambert really not see what we all can?
The answer is beyond me.

Whatever, did I really read that Tom Cleverly was demanding £80k a week?
That’s just laughable, but shows how much the game is getting out of hand.

Bear in mind that all clubs got a nice £30 million bonus this year.
We didn’t spend much of it though, did we?

Lerner’s revitalised about the Villa?
Don’t make me laugh.
He’s reeling the money back in, big time.

Good, because hopefully he’ll sell up all the more quicker, at a lower, more realistic price.

Who cares then? He uses us for a couple of months, sets the world on fire for villa and launches us up the table, he can either stay or fuck off in january, and if he leaves Lambert has a whole month to find a different attacking midfielder.

Why pay a Man U player £80k per week to get game time at Villa ?

Let’s be honest, we shouldn’t be in the relegation scrap this season, what a refreshing change, and Lerner isn’t going to break the bank to go for Europe when he wants out.

Let’s face it, Hull made Europe & surrendered meekly in the qualifiers. Reminds me of our Rapid Vienna efforts.

A little bit disappointed but we should be ok even with no more signings. Big test coming up over the next few weeks though, if we do Liverpool or get a draw I can see us getting a fair few points from those games. I have a bad feeling Balotelli will smash us though on his home debut, you know its going to happen as were always the club for things like that!

The truth is nobody knows the truth. We don’t even know if there is truth in the news that a deal may still go through (and it wouldn’t be the first after deadline deal to be approved).

If I wasn’t a Villa fan and had the choice between Villa and Everton I think I would probably choose Everton. Why would we expect Cleverley to want to come to Villa above other teams? I doubt that he wants to leave United, but is being pushed out (and at the last minute for him too).

If he comes, let’s see how he performs. If he is crap he will get stick. Maybe it’s best not to dish that out before he even kicks a ball though.

You really are a prize tw@t. You want our best players to leave (Benteke and Vlaar). and if we sign Cleverley on loan “it’s the last straw”. Oh really, so what if we do? Stop supporting the club? Looks to me like you did that long ago.

Villa apologist? I just say what I see, not what I think other people want to hear. Villa has been a club in a mess for a long while, but if I see something that I think might improve things I will say so, rather than slag off every single move Lerner, Lambert and the club make.

Who says Cleverley is anything like Ireland? You probably know him as well as I do which is not at all. If he comes and you are right tell me you told me so. At least that should make you happy.

Looks like your last straw has happened. Now what? Nothing really. Just carry on slagging off everything about the club. Until the next last straw?

Has Cleverley really disrespected the club? If you were being pushed out of one club that you had been with since a kid, wouldn’t you want to consider your options and choose the best one for you? And the best deal financially? Lots of signings go through at the death after a game of poker played out by players, clubs and agents all after the best deal they can get. That’s all. If Cleverley was a Villa player who forced the club to sell him because of his antics then that would be disrespecting the club.

Well, well, that’s a turn up for the book (assuming it get’s approved). Sounds like Cleverley’s clever strategy left him in the soft stuff and he had to do a very quick volte face whilst eating a large slice of humble pie. I think we should give PL some credit for facing the guy’s agent down and getting him WITHOUT paying a large transfer fee so, if he’s no good Oohah he has only cost us KEA’s wages!!!! And on wages, I read he was on £30k a week at manure; this 80k claim is rubbish.

OohAh, for once I agree with you. Interestingly both the Falco and Welbeck deals were also concluded after the 11pm deadline. Telegraph report that Cleverley’s basic at manure is £30k plus appearance money and add ons. He has something to prove and if Villa get his career back on track why would he want to move elsewhere? Welbeck is another Man U reject. I wouldn’t mind him at the club. Plus a few others they have dumped in the past as well (Jaap Stam would have been nice!).
I actually think Cleverley is a decent player and would add something to our midfield. Given the trouble we have attracting players at the moment (we have tried and failed it seems to bring in some decent players in the last few seasons but don’t pay the going rate) I would prefer we took a chance on Cleverley rather than did nothing.
Then again he might come here and be crap. If he is I will hold my hands up. One thing in my defence, I stuck up for Alan Hutton when not many did. That seems to have turned a bit. Let’s hope Cleverley does too.
