Today Wenger showed his class (he does moan too much though) by backing the FA Cup against what Lambert says. I see Lambert’s excuse makers are all out today defending him, lets call them the Sky Generation.
For them the FA Cup is a nuisance by interrupting their viewing on Sky Sports. Of course the other TV companies do not help the issue by showing Man Utd no matter the rubbish match they have !!
However Vaze said on the other thread
The FA Cup has lost significance, that cannot be denied. Not to us older generation who grew up watching the whole build up throughout the day and having two of the only three TV channels broadcast it live.
But the younger generation brought up on Sky football and CL midweek matches don’t care much for it.
He is totally spot on of course so can I suggest this as a non season ticket holder ?
Any season ticket holder who thinks the FA Cup is not worth it will there fore give up their automatic ticket for the the final ? After all if it is a second rate competition I would not want you wasting your precious cash on something you may not have attended in the run.
I think that is fair and we could use this blog as a conduit for this ?
Tomorrow Sheff Utd have sold all their tickets and I bet that less than 60% of season ticket holders will go, obviously for them the precious PL is worth far more ?
Not to me.
THIS WILL BE OUR YEAR
(after all it is 57 years since we won it in ’57)
Spooky eh ?
Extra extra …Lamberk Lemmings lambasted in alliteration frenzy
read all about it
He’s getting slaughtered on talksport.
We are not alone.
Someone on talk sport just said that if we went down we deserve it anyway as we are only paying championship wages to championship players anyway and not doing anything in the prem anyway. Also said at least we have a chance of winning promotion. Hard to disagree this is really bad IMO.
And can you argue with that? Look Oohah you of all people shouldn’t be accepting this line from Lambert, just another down grading of expectations.
No chance of the league, the cup(s) are an unfortunate inconvenience, where is it going to end?
A guy… On talk sport… And you’re going to agree? Scares me the most.
We’re not getting relegated, and the players we have are better than Championship players, poorly managed.
We should also be going for the cup, though I’d love to see younger players getting the chance. Stieber, Gardner (who hopefully gets a new contract), Donacien should at least be getting a look.
Why is lambert moaning not like he in any other cup is he plus if lambert cant be bother then why dont they lower the tickets then you cant have your cake and eat it fuck lambert his frinshed with me now only history remembers teams that win silverware
Probably because he doesn’t think we will beat Sheffield and has a ready made excuse.
They have £10 for the lwr N Stand, £15 Holte + £5 for the kids but that’s not the point, if Lambert aint bothered why should we be even for £2?
I’d like the FA Cup. In-fact I like every single cup competition.
I reckon it gives you a good chance to analyse some of your players. Lambert give Helenius a chance to impress, I reckon he’ll be the ideal replacement for Kozak.
Also Gardner’s and Albrighton’s contract is expiring soon so give them a chance to impress against Sheffield United.
It just makes more sense to play a weakened team against League One and League Two sides, but play a stronger team against Championship and Premier League oppositions.
I don;t actually question weakened teams Adam, that is not the problem for me.
It is the attitude that it does not matter …
That’s true, but I do think these games matter. It’s a good way to get into the Europa League and which club and players wouldn’t want to win a trophy once in a while
well you know my view on the Europa, get into that would give it up, that does not matter !!
but what is needed is a lift to the fans and yesterday Lambert should have said desperate to win, part of the way to grow the team and build it, give the fans some joy etc
All positives but all he did was mumble on about what other teams think.
Ian mate, just a thought, has that so called twat we have as a manager ever, I said ever played in the F A cup? I’m so mad that my childhood dreams are being taken away.
OK get the jest robbo f,.’k you no answer back, no wonder people leave , its all about what you think and say, BWS might as well talk to a lampost when he’s on.
Bill Oohah & Badger must have a couple of screws loose, they buy the site from the fella then let him have the right back to put articles up without submitting them, editing rights I suppose? F**ked if I’d have let him if I’d have paid him with my own hard earned cash for the site, not in a million years mate.
Ian isn’t the only author we have a few. You are more than welcome to submit an article BWS.
BWS that’s my point, now he takes over, and all the time he spouts what he thinks just so people argue to boost ratings.
I have oohah and I’m not having a pop but this robo thing is like buying a house off someone then letting them have a set of keys in case they feel like popping in, crazy.
If I were I’d demand a refund.
#you#
As I mentioned before, Vlaar and Okore are out. Benteke is only just getting going again but still looked a bit uneasy and off the pace against Sunderland. Kozak is out. The match tomorrow is surely a prime candidate for the likes of Helenius, Gardner, Steer, Donacien and co to get out there and make a case for themselves. We’ll find out tomorrow what Lambert has in mind but do you really think he’s going to set out to lose? What should the club do, play the first team and hope no one gets injured against a team presumably looking to take us down? Realistically we’re in a precarious place, just about surviving with crap football on display. If the majority of the first team plays it will surely be the same as the cup games we lost last season with the opposition hanging back and our players passing sideways or back to Guzan rather than try to move the ball forward. I’d much rather he rested the majority of the first team and let a few of them play (maybe Luna, Lowton, Clark or Baker, Alrbighton, Westwood or Delph) and mixed in players from the reserves.
But that’s avoiding the point of this thread which is a fairly spiteful whinge about people who it seems want to continue seeing Villa in the PL. I’m pretty sure we’d all like to see Villa win things (apart from Terry, who just wants to have a go at ‘Lamberk’s Lemmings’, whoever they are) but realistically we’re currently crap and there’s more important stuff going on.
“there’s more important stuff going on”
Like servicing Randy’s debt?
Yes, like servicing Randy’s debt.
well it is clear, if some people think it is a waste of time then don;t bother when the glory comes …
yes we are crap and yes some should be given a chance BUT you can also say you are desperate to go all the way in the competition.
I would rather be on the side of Jose and Arsene and Moyes than the likes of Fat Sam, Pardew etc.
Tbf I didn’t bother going to semi v Chelsea or final with utd some years ago as couldn’t even get excited then. Plus I refuse to pay rip off wembley prices especially semi being at wembley which is a joke. That’s another thing that’s killed the fa cup IMO.
do you mean jose of chelsea, Wenger of Arsenal .. and Moyes of man utd …?
i think you will see a pattern there.
whats incredible is these teams are notorious for fielding second string players in the cups.
is that side you want to be on?
if so i don’t see the furore over villa fielding a second string side
It’s good there are some old fogies like you around to keep us ‘Sky’ kids on the straight and narrow. I don’t think there are many people who like what’s going on with the club at the moment but it’s always good when we turn on each other isn’t it?
I’m an old fogie foxy but still can’t get excited about tge cup. Even when we were in semi v Chelsea a few years ago I couldn’t be arsed tbh. The only thing about fa cup is the excitement of the draw other than I can’t be arsed.
playing the Semi’s to have to service Wembley’s debt was one of the worse of many abysmal calls the FA made
I was replying to IanRobo OohAh, not you.
So Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U will all be fielding their strongest possible teams this weekend then ?
Actions speak louder than words.
they will ‘rotate’ the same as usual in competitions but they will still play to win the competition ….
Ian some rumours on facebook that Lerner has employed a stockbroker to sell club. Any truth in it? Hope it’s true but probably just rumours.
send me a mail with the link to it
That’s because all three have tough premier opposition. Also wengar and moyes will be desperate for silverware as unlikely they will win the league or CL final.
Ffs its FA cup day, get behind our team, Don’t follow people that have never played in the English F A its ENGLISH not F,.’king Scottish, VILLA for the cup?..?..
Bill I think some have forgot they are fans and are under the delusion they are accountants.
And when’s our next Champions League game then????
BWS I’m out of here mate, just monitor site. Atb…
Just off topic deadly doug will be talking on midlands today wm about the years of abuse off the fans if anyones interested.lerner are you watching.
rather not listen to the serial liar who never gets challenged on a soft interview.
Anyway believe I have a wart to get off at the same time it is on.
Lol ian,i love the bollox he speaks mate.at least you get to see him unlike a certain wank soz yank.
we bloody have gone from one extreme to another, no doubt Ellis contacts Midlands today for the interview !!
More than likely mate been quiet for abit.just heard the interview,i think it’s digusting fans abusing his wife & vandalising his home.soz but some ppl go to far.
that never happened … a LIE
In all my time I never heard of any incident at his house at all. As for his wife maybe one random comment I do not remember any abuse towards him or his wife.
What he calls abuse is what I call questioning him on facts.. Did you ever go to one of the farcical AGM’s ??
The guy hated to be questioned …
And you are all commenting on a piece by a twat who can’t get off his fat arse to watch even home games and would rather watch some non-league numpties running around like headless chickens because it is ‘real’ football. Fucking mad! Piss off and watch the ‘noses, they aren’t on fucking Sky and they will take the precious FA Cup oh so seriously because it’s Bill Pearson’s fucking family heirloom. You’re a match made in heaven.
You ever thought about joining the diplomatic services?
Bill he’s right mate I’ve had a relative play for Villa plus photographs of me holding the cup, worked for them for 20 year’s , and all my ancestors are in Aston Church yard looking after the club. What a legacy BWS.
Just thought beat that Tweety pie.
Have i missed something?
You’re a. thoroughbred. villan then Bill.
“some non-league numpties running around like headless chickens because it is ‘real’ football”
Hey Geoff, is that as opposed to our headless chickens?
I think you over-rate about 90% of our squad, tbh, especially when it comes to passing.
Tweet pie’s blind Badger123 how would he know.
I cant make it to the third round tie simply because its too close to Xmas, i also have a birthday this month for one of my children. Last year i remember a few ST holders who sat near me failed to make it to the third round game because they simply could not afford it so close to Christmas.
Is there an argument to shift the tie back into December or further into February would this fill the stadiums as it is very expensive time of year for most families
1.5m bid for Hoolahan reported by Sky Sports and the Mirror.
“But the younger generation brought up on Sky football and CL midweek matches don’t care much for it.”…. yet the more they ‘suffer’ watching it, the more they will become the ‘older generation’ and appreciate the FA Cup. Null story, IMHO (see, I’m 42 AND younger generation)
Have to disagree with you there QM.
I think that the FA Cup has lost almost all lustre that it once had, and it won’t be recovered.
The point I was making was that the FA Cup was a limited opportunity to see a live football match on TV and the buzz around the week of the final was tremendous.
With a dozen or so live matches or more per week now, the FA Cup seems to have become irrelevant to many.
