This is not exactly new, but given that I’ve only just read it, it still seems a good viewpoint, hence here it is.
With thanks to Ntype;
Today’s news that Wayne Rooney wants out of Manchester United plays into Villa’s hands in their negotiatons over Christian Benteke.
There are two reasons for this. Firstly liquidity in a market is always good for a seller. So far there have been few Premier League to Premier League transfers. This has meant the British clubs are in a tricky position as purchasers – they don’t have funds readily available. The same thing happens each season, once the first big transfer happens you see lots of business as the influx of money into the system oils the cogs.
The second reason is that the sale of Rooney would force Manchester United to find a replacement. Fabregas has been mooted, but this doesn’t appear to be a genuine story. Much more likely is that Moyes will look to make Gareth Bale Manchester United’s marquee signing.
Of course this relies on two actions. Rooney has to leave, which looks likely, and Bale has to choose to move to Manchester United. I think this is likely, after all this move is made for all the same reasons as Benteke leaving Villa.
It’s realistic that Villa can get £26m (plus £4m add ons) for Benteke. Thanks Rooney!
Steven Ireland would be an excellent signing to replace Rooney
Ha ha
Lol
I’ve read somewhere that this rooney thing may all be a rouse by Mourinho to unsettle Moyes and United and a way of welcoming Moyes to the top four although that said if true im sure fergie would be wise to that, its the kind of shit he’s been pulling for years.
as for will it help us, it may do, its very early days yet, the transfer frenzy is yet to kick in and we’ve got the whole of august to go. there being no tournament this summer, no world cup, no euros, the press and the fans are desperate for football news and in reality there is none so half the time its stuff just blown out of all proportion.
It’s actually bloody brilliant from Mourinho. Unlike what Spurs and Arsenal fans believing that bidding for Soldado and Suarez respectively will lower the price tag of Benteke and Higuain as they think we actually wanna sell them, which is completely stupid. At least some fans actually understand that however.
However he’s talking up an unhappy striker, he’s not exactly mentioning his name every time, however it’s pretty clear. He’s either A. Going to put in a relatively strong bid for Rooney who will push for the move as Mourinho probably does want him and they would then have a really happy striker who will be committed for the faith Mourinho showed or Rooney stays and is extremely unhappy.
benteke signs new contract with villa
Get in there onward and upward.
UTV!!!
New contract for Benteke till 2017
Christian Benteke said: “I spoke with the Manager when I returned to training and we had a good talk. I am very happy to be back here in Birmingham and at Aston Villa, and to sign a new contract. This is a great Club and it has given me a lot. Now I have to give back to my teammates and the fans who have always been right behind me. The end of last season was very good and the lads were very strong. It was not easy but we came through it and the confidence is high. So everyone knows what we have to do now – be better. I need to be better than last year.”
On official website.
He also withdrew his transfer request.
Just seen that billy. Lambert clearly had words but shows his agent was in his ear over the suer
Of course he was, he has 2 top talented clients, and one’s nearing 30 years old so he has 1 player that’s going to make him a lot of money, Benteke.
no fuckin way!!!
