Newcastle Set to Bid for Bent

Newcastle are set to bid for out-of favour forward Darren Bent. Alan Pardew has put the Aston Villa forward on top of his wishlist and is keen to re-unit with the former Charlton forward. Aston Villa are holding out for £8 million, however Newcastle are hoping to snatch up the former forward for a lower price of £6 million. New technical director Joe Kinnear is set to start his work this week and will sit with Pardew to discuss transfer targets. It’s believed that Remy, Bent and another French striker is on his list.

It’s believed that Newcastle are planning to bid sometime this week and Aston Villa may not haggle for a better price because they are desperate to sell Bent. Despite the fact that Benteke want’s to leave, Lambert will be keen to get the forward off the wage bill and may have already signed the replacement in Helenius, who has already scored 2 goals in pre-season despite only playing 45 minutes in each half.

It’s also believed that Wolfsburg may also be willing to bid for Bent. Fulham’s new owner may also be interested in bringing in Bent. However, it’s good to hear that something is happening with some potential Aston Villa sales. As we begin to sell players Lambert may also bring in more.

Streetly Benty goes the mercenary will never play for us again so who does Lambert replace him with there is no proven goal scorer that will touch villa with a barge pole.So come on whom the hell is he going to bring in to replace those two prey do tell us then we may have a glimmer of confidence in what Lambert is trying to do.

You were really happy a few weeks ago, bring back the positive Terry, not this whinging doom monger that seems to have reappeared, Benteke leaving is out of our hands, Lambert will replace him accordingly, have some faith.

        1. DOL- fickle fans, he may have had a point.

          1. Guest avatar

We all know he had a point, just some of us don’t like to admit it.

        2. We all have our moments but some of the posts (posters) on here with their anti – Lerner -Lambert -anti Villa in general ethos could give some of the Noses I know a run for their money.

          1. Guest avatar

I know noses with far better things to say about the club than Terry and OohAh, says it all really.

Personally, I still feel bad for Bent and I wish him well. The guy signs for the club only to watch his supply line dwindle and the manager change 3-4 times. When he signed he was EPL proven striker, a house hold name as you will, and now after 3 seasons he has been marginalized to practice with the youth team. It really can’t be easy, but he takes it all in stride and he keeps his mouth shut through most of it. Sure he is our highest earner, but unlike Benteke, Bent conducts himself as a true professional.

Well said MARVIN Lambert should be ashamed but he is to rapped up in his own ego to give the lad the credit he deserves.

      1. marvin avatar

I would say less to do with Lambert and more to do with the fact the club has moved on. The club just can’t support him on, or off, the field anymore, but when supplied properly Bent is still a goal machine.

Mate moved on blimey thats an understatement we only just stayed up last season more by luck than design. So do tell me how we are moving forward when we don;t have a strike force capable of getting into double figures a midfield that is like a broken down old boiler and a defense that stays at home.

          1. marvin avatar

Well technically if you go by statistics finishing 15th last season was an improvement on the previous seasons 16th. I agree we got lucky though. You are right, we have a weak team, which can be said for the past 3 seasons. Although for me, Villa under Lambert has offered something GH and AMC did not… inspiration and the potential for a bright future. Sure we are signing no names and young kids, but they are hungry, eager to prove themselves, and except for Benteke happy to play for the club. Even Gabby looks fired up again and this season hopefully we can contribute more than 12 goals.

Mate there is nothing more than i would like to see such a loyal servent than Gabby to score 20 goals but without a team around him think it;s a bit of a pipe dream.

I’m really confused, when you had your little positivity fit and was hailing Lambert and Lerner for their business in the transfer market, what changed that has now made you this horrible litte Villa troll again?

The only difference between now and then is Benteke wants to leave, i don’t understand how you went from those positive posts to this again?

Please explain your thought pattern because to be honest, not only am i finding you really irritating, you are also creeping me out a little.

          3. Guest, as stated on a previous post he seems to suffer from Schizophrenia. No other explanation is there?

    2. You’re quite right Marvin, Bent did everything right for the club. Lambert was right to do what he did with Benteke playing instead of him but I did feel it was harsh on Bent to be dropped into the reserves. Especially when his goals with strengthen Newcastle and we need strikers who can score goals. Still, I trust Lambert and think he’s best for the club.

      1. marvin avatar

I agree Foxy. Any club that can afford to build a team around Bent has a quality striker on their hands and at 6-8m he is a steal. I think Lambert was right to drop him for Benteke, and while practicing with the kids may seem harsh to us, we really don’t know the whole story. I guess the point I was trying to make was that even if Bent and Lambert really don’t get along, Bent is at least professional enough to keep bit a club matter rather than a public matter, ie Benteke. As for Lambert, he has my full backing and I agree, I feel that he has the clubs best interest at heart and he is motivated, or stubborn, enough to fight the good fight.

Despite being benched, Bent never really complained too much. He was always hopeful that he could break into the first team. I’m sure that he was slightly excited about all these news players.

I’m sure that Bent is a little disappointed that he couldn’t play under Lambert, especially since he focuses more on attack. Unfortunately, he opts for a centre forward

  5. Guest Terry is attention seeking mate , he’s delusinal’ in the words of the lord forgive him for he does not know , changed it to he. Maybe sun stroke? or had a bad day. But he’s never all there I’m sure of it.

  6. Terry posts as someone who never even had enough in his glass for it to be half empty. He’s the internet version of the bloke standing on the high street telling us all the world is going to end and we’re all screwed.

Mate Lerner & Lambert are screwing us all by making believe they want the club to move forward and bring the glory days back to VP.

So you won’t be supporting the club if we go down Terry?

Mate i was probably supporting Villa when you were still wearing nappies.

          3. Guest avatar

            Would you like a medal?

You say support, but what you really mean is belittle and whinge.

  7. Benno avatar

Think this needs to happen, but its sad that all the money we seem set to make on Benteke is just recuperating what we are losing on Bent. I dont care what anyone says about ‘keeping us up’, Darren Bent was a bad signing at 24m. We could have brought in a goalscorer for half that price.

  8. Benno, you have a good point, but at the time we had a manager who was thrown in at the sharp end and was about to loose 3 of our top players and so 24mil was what he thought could keep the 3 in place. It never worked, Young, Millner, and Judas walked out, and I might add, I for one was glad they did cause the club are about to turn the corner, become profitable, and start to be seen as a positive move for up coming players.

    1. Terry Jones avatar
      Terry Jones

Up and coming players do not take the club forward nor will they ever get the club into a position where we are challenging for trophy,s.Only thing they are capable of is with luck and a bloody lot of it keep the club in the premiership and that IMO is no where good enough for a club of Villa,s size.

      1. So how come scholes beckham, giggs, and the Neville brothers do with man Utd, were they not up coming players??

I admire some of your comments at times, but you do spout rubbish sometimes.

A young hungry up coming team will get noticed, hence the player extensions for the improved ones, and that will continue once we begin to become stronger throughout the campaign.

Completely different it was different times and they had the likes of Hughe, Mcclair, robson pallister and Bruce to bring them on. Wev got Ron fuckin vlaar! Can u see the difference now!

          1. Another negative, we have Ireland, bent, CNZ, but it’s totally irrelevant, young players have to learn somewhere and some how.

I’m not as positive as some, but I do believe that most will come good, and Villa will prospere.

As for thinking we are a bigger club than we are in todays climate is totally delusional and we never will be as big as we were in the great years of the 30, 40, 50, 60, oh yes and the 2 years in the 80’s

But by god I would love to see it

We can argue until we are blue in the face but bottom line is lets c where we are by Xmas then judge. Iv a feeling we will have a similar season to last season especially when we lose Benteke goals unless of course lambert has a few decent signings up his sleeve but somehow I doubt it

                Terry Jones

Oohah mate so far Lambert as made one good signing and look how he as turned out a right bloody mercenary. So don;t have much faith in his judgement IMO at the moment it;s going to be yet another struggle for survival this year and every year for the forseable future.

        2. Terry Jones avatar
          Terry Jones

Mate think Oohah will agree with me so called up & coming players is not the way forward unless we are willing to flirt with relegation year in year out the club should be aiming high not be prone to some egoistics experiments.

  9. I also wish Benty luck for his future, he did good for us.

I like DB he is what he is a goalscorer. If he gets fed the right ball he will score a min of 20 a season. 1ithout him we would be in the Championship. However he does not fit into the managers plans so he has to train elsewhere it nay to some look rude or disrespectful, but it will mean he will force through a move quickly. On the fickle fans all clubs have fickle fans and at times we have all turned on our favoured player its just the way it is. DOL left Villa and achieved ??????

Reading a lot of these comments from afar I think everyone has valid points. Terry and Oohah have good points and I think they are saying that just a couple of quality players will make the difference. I agree but that dosnt mean to say we have to go mad. I do t think these 2 are negative just realistic but if you are ultra positive as some posters are then you will think otherwise. Just my opinion.
