    Now that’s a positive and a surprise or am I being negative by saying that. Lets see what the doom merchants can make of this excellent signing. You deserve better Tim.

    A new right back, winger and 1 or 2 attacking options bought in after the sale of Benteke and I think we could surprise a few next season.

    Not asking a lot is it? Utv

    I think im the only one not too disappointed by delph leaving surely around europe there are better players we can pick up than him and with the Benteke money aslong as we get to reinvest it we should be allot stronger than last year. The future is much brighter than last summer bring on the season.

    Oops, I didn’t realise you’d published this Adam. I’ve binned my version of the same subject.

    I’m excited about this lad too and really hope he’s as good as he’s made out to be.
    Supposed to be a good defender who goes forward just as well. Pacey too apparently.

    Lyon were after him and they have CL, but word is we’ve tripled his wages.

    Anyone know why there was no quotes from both Amavi and Gueye after they signed their contracts? I liked reading those and hearing what new players have to say about us.

            You also said he’d be off last summer, and the summer before as well as last January. In fact you said he’d be off before he even signed for us!

            Didn’t you also say you think he will stay a couple of weeks ago?

            Oh well, either way your right oohah. I’m predicting that Gueye will be sold within 10 years.

            Maybe we should all make predictions based on oohahs theory and see how many of us get it right. If I do a post about it will you put it up oohah/Badger?

    Feel for sherwood, first full pre season and been emu thing but smooth, 2 players he would have planned around gone, must be pissed about delph. Be good to have fresh start, fresh mentality, 8 players gone and let’s face it they didn’t get us very far. There will be more arrivals, hope we get one with prem experience but think on the whole the signings have been good, either mentality or attacking intent. Let’s face it can’t be much worse, five crap seasons, crap football, onwards and upwards!!!!

      It could be a master stroke by Tim. If he manages to buy a complete team with no Premiership experience he can just kid them before the first game that it is easier than the level they are used to. When they step out in front of 12000 at the Goldsands, they’ll believe him that it’s like Serie B.

    10 questions for the prophets of doom…
    1. Richards and Amavi or Hutton and Cissokho?
    2. Clark and Okore or Vlaar and Senderos?
    3. Gueye or Delph?
    4. Gardner or Cleverley?
    5. Grealish or Cole?
    6. Sinclair and Gil or Tonev and NZog?
    7. Kozak or Weimann?
    8. £32.5m or Beneke?
    9. Sherwood and Wilkins or Lambert and Keane?
    10. Fox or Faulkner?

    5 or 6 votes expect more of the same.
    4 or less we are going down
    7 or more , look on the bright side

    1 = Richards and Amavi
    2 = Undecided – still don’t rate Clark and Vlaar and Senderos did well together
    3 = Hard to say yet, but want to say Gueye!
    4 = Gardener
    5 = Grealish
    6 = Sinclair and Gil
    7 = Kozak
    8 = £32.5m – if Benteke doesn’t want to stay, let him go and buy Austin plus others
    9 = Sherwood and Wilkins
    10 = Fox, but only because Faulkner was so shocking!

    On this basis, yes, I think we probably can try to look on the bright side a bit. However, it will take time for our new additions to gel. Plus we definitely need a new right back, or a new centre half if Richards will be playing right back.

    Personally, my I would also be looking at buying a keeper and a striker. I really think Austin and Kozak could be a good pairing. Although it looks as though Sherwood will play either Gil or Grealish in the No 10 role. Or perhaps he will play Grealish and Sinclair as wingers with Gil and Kozak in the middle.

    We probably need to get another central midfielder in too now after having lost Delph and Cleverley. Hopefully Gardner can step up.

    Does anyone know whether Cissokho can play centre half? I personally think he’s a good defender, just a bit sloppy going forward. Him, Okore and Richards – beasts!

    This is possibly our best lineup with our current crop (assuming we’ve lost Benteke and Vlaar):

    Guzan
    Amavi
    Okore
    Clark
    Richards
    Gardner
    Gueye
    Grealish
    Gil
    Kozak
    Sinclair

    Classic 4-4-2

    Sanchez could play instead of Gardner.

    Experimental lineup:

    Bunn

    Amavi
    Cissokho
    Okore
    Richards
    Bacuna

    Sanchez
    Gueye
    Gardner
    Gil

    Kozak

    Back 5 with wing backs pushing forward
    A midfield diamond with Gil just behind Kozak

      Ha ha ha, the famous talksport who also predicted Liverpool were signing Benteke “within 24 hours” over a week ago? Mate although it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if we did sign Adebayor I can’t see it being a permanent move, certainly not for 100 grand a week! Could be decent on loan for a season though.

      the same danny kelly who is a spurs fan who said he would love to see Adebayor leave to free up wages at spurs about a month ago. this story is BS villa wont pay 100k a week for a 31 year old lazy bastard . even if sherwood wants him tom fox and lerner will veto this deal. the board have spent the last couple of seasons trying to get rid of the high earners from the squad and you really think they would allow this.

        plus why would sherwood want to do spurs any favours he must know daniel levy is desperate to get rid of adebayor and at the end of the day levy sacked sherwood after only six months as manager of spurs .

          Typical villa though so naive. Just like us to offer him a 5 ur deal for him to spend that time replacing vlaar on treatment table and pay him a £100k a week.

    In the transfer rumour merry go-round a few months ago,West Brom striker Saido Berahino was strongly linked with moving to Liverpool so with CB going to Liverpool, Berahino could be going to Villa for about 20-25 million. Villa is the top destination in the betting odds with Paddy Power for Dimitar Berbatov’s next move who had did well with Monaco last season.
