Jordan Amavi has officially signed a new 5-year deal with Aston Villa after moving from Nice at a reported £10 million deal. Amavi is one of the highest rated left-backs in Europe after being ranked as one of the best left backs in Ligue 1.

Amavi is the latest left-back that has been brought into the club as Aston Villa look to solve a position that hasn’t yet been secured since Warnock’s and Bouma’s prime days at the club. Amavi arrival affects Cissokho’s and Bennett’s position at the club with Amavi set to become Sherwood’s number 1 left-back. Amavi is a very attacking left-back who also boasts decent interception stats. One of his flaws include frequent bookings.
This is a great signing and I am very excited that Sherwood has brought in a player of Amavi’s caliber. At the age of 21, Amavi will most likely remain Aston Villa’s left-back for a number of seasons and being so young, Amavi does have resale value. Left-back is a position where not a single left-back has necessarily secured it for more than a season, hopefully Amavi ensures that we don’t buy an additional left-back for the next few seasons. I’m excited about this signing.
Now that’s a positive and a surprise or am I being negative by saying that. Lets see what the doom merchants can make of this excellent signing. You deserve better Tim.

I think im the only one not too disappointed by delph leaving surely around europe there are better players we can pick up than him and with the Benteke money aslong as we get to reinvest it we should be allot stronger than last year. The future is much brighter than last summer bring on the season.

Feel for sherwood, first full pre season and been emu thing but smooth, 2 players he would have planned around gone, must be pissed about delph. Be good to have fresh start, fresh mentality, 8 players gone and let’s face it they didn’t get us very far. There will be more arrivals, hope we get one with prem experience but think on the whole the signings have been good, either mentality or attacking intent. Let’s face it can’t be much worse, five crap seasons, crap football, onwards and upwards!!!!
It could be a master stroke by Tim. If he manages to buy a complete team with no Premiership experience he can just kid them before the first game that it is easier than the level they are used to. When they step out in front of 12000 at the Goldsands, they’ll believe him that it’s like Serie B.

On this basis, yes, I think we probably can try to look on the bright side a bit. However, it will take time for our new additions to gel. Plus we definitely need a new right back, or a new centre half if Richards will be playing right back.
Personally, my I would also be looking at buying a keeper and a striker. I really think Austin and Kozak could be a good pairing. Although it looks as though Sherwood will play either Gil or Grealish in the No 10 role. Or perhaps he will play Grealish and Sinclair as wingers with Gil and Kozak in the middle.
We probably need to get another central midfielder in too now after having lost Delph and Cleverley. Hopefully Gardner can step up.
Does anyone know whether Cissokho can play centre half? I personally think he’s a good defender, just a bit sloppy going forward. Him, Okore and Richards – beasts!

Mate although it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if we did sign Adebayor I can’t see it being a permanent move, certainly not for 100 grand a week! Could be decent on loan for a season though.

In the transfer rumour merry go-round a few months ago,West Brom striker Saido Berahino was strongly linked with moving to Liverpool so with CB going to Liverpool, Berahino could be going to Villa for about 20-25 million. Villa is the top destination in the betting odds with Paddy Power for Dimitar Berbatov’s next move who had did well with Monaco last season.

Adebeyor is exactly what we don’t need. Another injury priced overpaid mercenary the type of player we’ve been trying for years to get off our books. He will want a £100k per week ffs. Why don’t we just offer Benteke another 50k to stay instead. I’m still not convinced his heart is really in going to Liverpool and would rather move south than further north.
Always been a fan of Adebayor’s when he actually cares, like he did under Sherwood, but Adebayor doesn’t have the mentality that Sherwood wants and I can’t see it happening. He’d be a good 2nd choice and is different than Kozak is, technically is quite gifted, similar to Berbatov, but his attitude for a majority of the time is poor, although his strike rate is quality. I do think we’ll look for 2 strikers if Benteke leaves, as I believe we were in for a striker to partner Benteke. Embolo would be quality next to Benteke if he stayed.
Definitely be shocked if we were ever interested in Callum Wilson, let alone are now, English media have no clue who we want. If Sherwood wants a Premier League experienced striker, the best one would be Chicharito to partner Kozak (if Benteke left) as his runs are absolute class. There’s a lot of strikers out there that I think we could get/go for.
I agree. I don’t think anyone should take much notice of the media. I mean they didn’t predict Gueye and Amavi joining until negotiations were well under way so what do they know? Still prepared for a few surprises.
Also agree that Chicharito would be a brilliant buy. He’s still young but has experience and has played at the highest level. A real trier too which would please Sherwood.
Chicarito is quality, but I’m not convinced he would want to sign for us. I’d take Austin, as he is a proper goalscorer. Adebayor – not convinced, way past his best.
I don’t think it’d be too far-fetched. Not sure who else would go for him. Tottenham are linked but that’s about it. Oh and Orlando City are also linked to him.

Talented, often unplayable, an eye for goal (career stats better than 1 goal every 3 games), a point to prove, loves Sherwood and tried his arse off for him. He could be great for a season or two. If we could sign him AND Austin we then have options upfront with Kozak, Sinclair and Gabby. This would be refreshing seeing as the only option for 3 years has been Benteke or nothing. (Blimey – I sound like Adebeyor’s agent!!). It appears to be his family who are a bit loopy.

Media reckon benteke wants Utd over Liverpool lol and is holding out to see if they come in for him. This means he’s no chance of joining pool as their fans would go ballistic. If Utd don’t come in for him then he is in limbo and we can tell him to do one
