Hunt and Anschutz the new owners of AVFC ?

| | 309 Comments| 8:02 PM

A few weeks ago when Larry Ellison was being talked off I explored some links between him and Lerner. This was in the belief that Randy is going to sell us to some he knows.

Well following on from today’s announcement I have looked at any links to Philip Anschutz and then came across something.

You will know that we are going on tour to Texas in the Summer, I always held off from saying this was to new owners. Of course Anschutz owns one of the teams Houston Dynamo’s that we are playing. Well the other team is FC Dallas ….

The owner there is Clark Hunt.

Hunt also owns the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team so there is no doubt he and Randy in owners meetings have met many times. He has also owned previously the Columbus Crew and who did we play in Lerner’s home state of Ohio a few years ago ?

If you google Clark Hunt you will see his name linked with takeovers at Palace, Newcastle and West Ham, so he has had interest in English football.

Could it be we see a joint ownership between the two and do they know each other ?

The answer is a clear yes as THIS LINK shows and let me quote

The joint project is the result of a unique partnership between Hunt Midwest, a full-service real estate development company owned by the Lamar Hunt family, and LightEdge Solutions, which is owned by Qwest founder Phil Anschutz. The long relationship between the Hunt and Anschutz families helped foster the partnership.

Lamar Hunt (deceased) was Clark Hunt’s dad … the two are obviously very close, a joint bid from them is now by favourite.

  1. as long as we have an owner who enjoys his football knows the game and understands how integral it is to English culture I’ll be a happy man.

Unfortunately football clubs in the PL have become the billionaires next toy to play with and as with all toys people get bored of them eventually.

We need a footballing man at the helm it’s destined to go wrong or at the very least an owner who can appoint footballing men to keep cogs oiled while he stays rich/gets richer. I don’t trust Lerners ability to handle the task of finding this type of replacement in the sligtest

  2. i assume you include Benteke and Gabby in that statement Rum Rum. form where Lambert started if he had turned round and bought three half decent players for the spine of the team instesd of bying a wagon load of shite from the lower leagues we would not have been in the position we found ourselves in.

    1. Gabby seems to be the only one to have escaped the high earners going into the bomb squad. Because he was a Villa boy perhaps? I’m not defending Lambet’s actions btw, it was simply a thought. And don’t forget Benteke was far from a high earner when he was first signed.
And the name is ‘Bum Bum’. Learn to spell 😉

  3. Spot on New Regime in a nutshell but i cant see it happening without having some football men at the club it wont work.

  4. Anyone noticed we’ve been linked with a 30 yr old defender at Doncaster who can’t even get into the first team? FFS!

  5. Don’t know if anyone else heard the Radio 5 interview with the chap who oversaw the sales of Chelsea and Man City to Abramovich and the Sheikh Mansour.

He said that he understood that no buyer was in negotiations at present, but that Villa were an attractive proposition as a huge Premiership club.

I don’t think that a new owner is in final negotiations, I really believe that we are, as the statement said, up for sale.

    1. I’m afraid that’s how I see it too Vaze. It’s quite worrying but I guess in a sense we are no different to Newcastle and Everton. Whilst they haven’t announced that they are formally up for sale, they have been for some time. It doesn’t prevent them from being run as a normal club in the meantime. If there is no buyer Lerner will need to protect his investment, so funds will need to be released for a transfer budget. We probably need 2 or 3 quality players ( so up to £20M) to bolster the team, and help some of the weaker/less experienced players along.

I can’t see Lambert being sacked unless Lerner has completely lost faith in him, as that’s more money wasted. I can’t see a new manager of any quality that would fancy joining a poorly performing club whose owner wants out either.

Add those 2/3 players to Benteke and Okore, we may have a team that could hold its own fairly comfortably.

  6. Villa for sale!come get your villa for sale! You mam with the pretty face ill do for a fiver.
villa for sale! Come get your villa!

no Everton, no Newcastle its all about the villa!

  7. Well just checked and villa park is not on rightmove. What’s that all about ?

  8. Do you think we can trick a sheikh into thinking that Aston Villa isn’t the only nice thing about Birmingham.

    1. Well if they can fall for the ‘attractions’ of a dump like Manchester, then it shouldn’t be too difficult. Let’s introduce camel racing at Sutton Park…

      1. Pretty sure manchester united had something to do with that and we haaave WBA

        1. Why are camels called the ships of the desert? Because they’re full of semen (seamen)!!!

  9. When a chairmans in the mind frame which is to sell the club which may I add ain’t an overnight thing why not have prospective buyers in the pipeline???? He must have contacts in America. As it stands the clock is ticking & FUCK all is being done.

    1. We don’t know that yet Giddy. Let’s try to be positive, even though Lerner has done his best to crush that over the past four years…

        1. Doesn’t matter how impatient we are or how much you want a new owner, its ultimately out of lerners hands.
If you want a billionaire bevolent , owner … I think the odds are in the millions for that to happen

  10. Were for sale and thats it. we’ll be stuck with same shit next season with less to spend because the yank wnats shot if it all. depressing times ahead next season.

the upside? one of lerners connections, another yank who doesn’t have a clue about english football and will employ clowns underneath him or even worse keep the clowns we have now and eventually lose faith and one shot of it all as well

    1. ya take that stupid yanks … how f**king old are you seriously? its all america’s fault is it?
how many brits are standing up to be counted right now? putting their money where their mouth is?

      zero ..

so lets quit with the yankee doodle shite, i couldn’t care less where they are from as long as they have traditional and custodian approach and respect for the club( like the previous “yank”) but with the money to push us forward.

if that happens though, we will have won the lottery

  11. Hearing the New York meeting is to settle payouts for Lambert and Faulkner. Not sure when we will hear confirmation.

That’s what I’ve read recently, on facebook of course, but who knows if it’s true. Also read Gardner’s getting offered a new contract.

  12. My word it’s May… We’re half way through god damn May. Will people stop whining that we haven’t been sold yet… IT’S MAY….

  13. Waitin for AVFC to do something positive is like waitin for a man with no arse to crap.Shits just not gunna happen lol UTV

  14. I’m not the only one who wants things to speed up the AVST have voiced their urgency. I’m amazed it hasn’t already been mentioned on here unless I’ve missed something.

  15. i am hearing from a new source that the heads of departments were called into a meeting yesterday and were informed that the club had been sold but because of due diligence could not be divulged at time of statement and to expect an announcement early next week that’s all i have heard at the moment will try to make a few phone calls

  16. Just looked a VT there are posts referring to a David Armstrong of the Daily Star suggesting something could happen after 2.30 on Monday. Coincidently that is when the American Stock exchange opens.

        1. The renaming of Villa Park is the MOST I could ever handle, albeit reluctantly. The changing of our colours or name would bring massive trouble to the streets of B6. We’ll wait and see…

          1. Depends if we get a world class title winning team out of it. If we have to sell our soul for mediocre football they can do one

  17. They are saying over at TBAR site that Lambert has gone. Not known whether he has been sacked or resigned. It is also rumoured that David Moyes is tipped to be our new manager. Of course it could all be bo-locks but I believe these were the guys who first broke the story of caulverhouse & the other chap getting the boot. So make of it what you will. UTV

    1. What is tbar site. Keep hearing it mentioned but dint no wot it is thanks

  18. Oohah, it is The Bells Are Ringing, villa site.

Also they are saying betting on new Villa manager was suspended at 11.12pm.

    Wind up or real?

    1. Ahh that’s what it is thanks mate. Gutted its moyes if that’s true totally pointless

  19. Not my first choice either, but I would say a huge improvement on the current set up if true.

    1. Moyes is a national joke and his forte is running a club in the cheap albeit better than lamberk. Another full lifeless lump who will be hounded out if VP in the next 2 years. Awful app if true

  20. I’m reading Yakin’s our top choice, he resigned from Basel Friday night. I’ve also been told Lambert’s gone.

    1. well keep posting lamberts gone, iam sure u will be right oneday, it may happen immediately when the clubs sold or in 12months when his contract runs out. but if u read this 6 hours ago post the link, betting is suspended on all premier league managers as currently the season is over, believe it or not, spurs av a vacant position also wba with west ham deciding in 10 days whether to replace big sam.

so alittle more facts andrew would be nice

      1. NATH I’ve seen naff all in todays gossip relating not only to LAMBERTS position but to VILLAS aswell, so FUCK knows where these rumours are being generated.

        1. lmao i know i av looked everywhere and not a grain of info to back this. i have seen odds on the next villa manager but thats normal they are doing same on arsenal and other premier league teams.

          1. NATH I suppose first things first New chairman then a new manager, everything is pure speculation atm it’s doing my taitters In mate.

          2. totally agree new owner will come first, otherwise it will be just a pointless appointment, yeah its doing my head in as well. selling clubs don’t happen overnight, information is limited, i think lerner has gathered his staff to discuss this upcoming season, so when will we be sold, i guess much later than most believe

worrying thing giddy is the squad needs freshening up, needs 2 increases in quality and numbers, this must be wot the present owner and managements must be discussing over the pond

          3. Fully agreed NATH, the clock is ticking & we need a new refurbishment ( squad wise ) & being in limbo ain’t helping matters time will tell which I feel we haven’t got with so much planning to do MATE.

      2. Can only relay what I’m told, no? I’ve never once claimed to be right, just what I’ve heard. No real reason to not believe the guy either until he tells me something untrue.

Only thing I know is tomorrow is when we should know. If any of this is true.

        1. no worries ~ i wasn’t having a pop just annoyed like most villians being kept in the dark, well 2morrow never comes lol but we will see

          1. Monday then. 😉

I totally agree. So bored/annoyed with it and truly hope the guys right. I’m so, so, so hoping we get Yakin over Moyes.

            1. Andrew are red bull and yankin rumours true iyo? Or are you just yankin my chain!!

          2. No idea. Although I do like Yakin chains!!

All I know is supposedly Lerner’s told the staff at Villa Park he’s sold the club, but won’t tell them who yet, guessing until tomorrow. I truly hope Yakin gets it though. He did resign on Friday and the guy’s been telling me for 2 months now Yakin’s favorite/top choice and not your usual names like Moyes that the betting places claim. Small possibility Faulkner’s staying, but will have nothing to do with the Football side of things. As for the owner, he has no idea.

            1. Thanks is yakin any good no nothing about him to be fair. Is it red bull

          3. He doesn’t know who the new owner will be.

Yakin’s a very highly rated manager. He’s outplayed the likes of United under Fergie and Chelsea under Mourinho. Plays great football and has that winning mentality. He’s very good. Obviously a big step up from Basel, but I do definitely think he’ll do very well if he comes.

  21. Anes Omerovic – we’ve also signed him. U-16 Austrian international, who plays as a DM… I knew we were looking young, but I think 15’s a bit much.

Jokes aside, we’ve also completed signings of 2 Southampton youngsters. Seems with the amount of players that went out on loan, they’re looking for more which is always good.
