Having watched every game the “El Ahmadi has been terrific” comment has somewhat confused me he has been awfull for 95% of the season so far and has to be replaced. You are correct though we lack a creative midfielder and Bacuna could be that man

Kae is an awful player and his performance v Newcastle was arguably the worse iv ever seen anyone in a villa shirt play. He has improved since then but us all over the place he runs and works hard but has no quality whatsoever.

Personally, I think you should play players in their best positions while we have the option, and from what I have seen, Bacuna has looked out of his depth in the middle, both pre-season and in the league (liverpool), while he is playing extremely well at full/wing back.

He was played on the right at Groningen in his last season, both at the back and midfield which suggests the manager there thought he was best as a wider player too.

I agree we still need that special CM player but I dont think Bacunas our man. But then Iv been wrong plenty before.

Yes, we need a creative midfielder but we can’t afford to let Lowton back in the team. Bacuna must stay at right back for now IMO.
Lowton is a poor defender and I commend Lambert for rightfully dropping him. His goal at Stoke was great, but don’t forget the endless goals he cost us through poor positioning.
Bacuna looks to have a good delivery and pace. He played well against Norwich and City at full back so why change things, there is no need.

Not sure we should move Bacuna.. he wasn’t any good against Liverpool or Spurs in midfield.. obv new league and takes time to settle etc.. he may well be a midfielder but as of now he is doing well as a full back.. it has only been two games and he will get better IMO.. so why move him and then he doesn’t do well and we lose him at RB too..

Id have to agree that he should stay where he is at the moment, reasons being that lowton is just awful so far this season and has been responsible at least in part for every goal we’ve conceded when he has played an dhe just isn’t hitting any kind of form at the moment while bacuna has come in and performed very well in the RB/RWB positions while I would say he looked a little out of his depth in midfield for us against spurs especially. personally I think he needs a while before he’s midfield ready, remember he’s only young and brand new to the PL game.
as for KEA I think he’s improved 10 fold on what I saw from him last season, cant fault his effort and if he could tighten up his passing game that would be great.
we are with out doubt still missing a creative CM and I don’t think we have one good enough in our current squad and until we get one we just gotta play to our strengths which is fast counter attacking football and 110% effort.
I would seriously hope that we aquire said creative/holding CM, (our holy grail quest if you like as its almost becoming mythical)in jan or the closed season next year.

Keep Bacuna at RB and make him Free kick taker sorted. I think he defends quite well. I feel more sure about the defence with him at rb instead of Lowton. I think Westwood will provide a bit of quality in the middle when he’s back. I know he started slow but last season his passing looked good, and you would expect that to only get better.

I like the look of Westwood but he hasn’t had a sparkling season so far. He’s good at corners though and his free kick at Wycombe (I think) was great, although it may be that a Premier League defence would have been better at defending something like that.

Bacuna certainly has the quality to play a midfield role at some point. If he played in the midfield, for me, he’d be playing out wide. He’s not a central player as I see it. But as others have said, he is much needed playing as RB for now. Who knows, hopefully soon we will see him get the opportunity to flourish in a new role and hopefully that’s because our squad improves even more!

Honestly not sure bacuna is the answer for the creative midfielder we need, however i think if we could accommodate lowton and bacuna into the team we would be better, lowton is gettin a lot of stick over 2 bad games, its typical villa fans really very little loyalty or respect but expect the players to have that in abundance.

Lowton was great for us last season and if he can find the same form as last season wit bacuna in front of him either as a RM or on the right side of 3 in the middle i tink our right side would be sorted both attack wise and defensively because both lowton and bacuna can defend and attack and are very hard workers.

Westwood i tink could take KEAs place as he is a better passer but i tink KEA is really stepping up his defensive side of the game this year and i don’t think westy is great defensively.

Don’t know how long the loans for grealish and carruthers are but if they are not season long loans i tink either of these could be the creative player we need provided they can make the step up that is. But i really think grealish will make it, he just needs more 1st team action so would really like to see him on our bench at least after January unless we decide to buy an AM.

KEA is still adjusting along with the others that have had a season or less in the PL.KEAs goal was well taken if you see on the replay he called for the ball, moved for it and scored composed and we’ll scored.Bacuna is an all rounder and I think will be good for us.Bacuna played well and his free kick was majestic and perfectly placed. We have done well against Arsenal and now Man city. Our performances are inconsistent Newcastle and Liverpool show this.I am really glad Lambert changed up the system and got his home win.Now onto Hull away a good away win and we will have had a good start UTV

Anyways, I can see Bacuna as a Right Winger whenever Lambert wants to bring Lowton back in the team, Weimann behind the striker and Gabby out left. Don’t like Weimann on the wing as he leaves his fullback alone far too often to get doubled/tripled at times.

I’d like to see Wiemann behind Benteke. They understand each other and made some great moves last season, the back heal and goal being one. I think I’d rather see Albrighton on the right wing in Wiemann’s place although I’m not sure how good he is coming back to defend.

Still don’t rate Albrighton, though I think he could be a good squad player for the wing. I can see Bacuna beating just about any LB in the league, while still helping Lowton, he’s got a great free kick and I can see his crossing being great as well.

I agree with KEA been a different player this year, workrate is second to none and isnt afraid to make a tackle, popped up with a goal too so he’s doing something right this year. Lambert wouldnt play him if he hadnt noticed his improvement as he didnt get a look in last year. Hope he keeps it up.

as for lowton I diont think anyones being disloyal or unfair to him, he had a good season for us last season but his form this season has been terrible and on that alone he just cant play at the moment until some improvement is seen and Bacuna has been better which is why he’s lost his place, that’s just football.

KEA has a tremendous engine on him no doubt. I was at the spurs game and have to say he was simply awful – did everything wrong. Kept giving the ball away, taking the ball in wrong direction. He couldn’t even successfully make a 6 yard pass! It was so poor but then the majority of the team was crap on the night. However, he is very natural on the ball and his goal against man city deserves recognition. We had been totally outplayed up till that point, yet he was good enough to find space for a clever through ball to be played to him, followed by a sound first touch and a perfect finish past one of the best keepers. Great confidence and composure and without that there would have been no comeback. Anyone who argues with this is wrong IMO. You don’t drop a player who has just scored such a goal. His confidence will be high and hopefully will reflect in the rest of his game.

I dont think KEA is more than a squad player to be fair, but Bacuna has impressed me in the last 2 games.

What I would say is that when given the AM role against Liverpool, he was rubbish! We might want to consider putting him on the right hand side and moving Weimann more central in the no.10 role.

I feel for Lowton as he was terrific last year, but maybe having Bacun in front of him would give him more support defensively and allow him to overlap more…?

I don’t get why people think lowton was great last year sure he scored a fantastic goal v stoke which should of been gots IMO. But defensively he has never been great but going forward he has been decent. The only decent defender lamberk has bought is okore and resigning Guzan was a master stroke. Midfielders that have signed for pl are very hit and miss ok one minute shit the next up front he has done well with Benteke, Kozac looks useful but has no pace and needs to beef up as he is too light weight for prem helenius has a decent touch for a big bloke (cliched) I know but that about it. Other than okore and cb I’m struggling to find any decent signings he’s made though at fees of around 2m what do we expect

Agreed that Lowton isnt the best defensively, but he is excellent going forward and not just because he scores goals. Re-watch games like Everton away or Sunderland at home and tell me he isnt good!! He was the best crosser of the ball by a mile last season.

Lowton is not bad defensively its only when he goes forward and our other full back moves up but no midfielder drops deep so he gets caught out of position, that’s why i think wit bacuna in front of him we would be better defensively and them 2 linking up and gettin a few games together i would really like to see.

When are we all going to realise we cant keep blaming full back saying they can’t defend properly. Warnock, Bennett, Luna, Herd, Lowton who else??? People need to realise the issue started when Young was given a free role behind the strikers and Downing was pushed further up the pitch under Houllier. Our full backs may not be great but they are put under so much more pressure now that strikers are playing in the wide areas who do are not naturally suited to a defensive role. Young and Downing weren’t tacklers but they would always track back and support their full backs and their positional sense was fantastic. Since Houllier changed their roles we have had, predominantly, Gabby or Bannan on the left, and Albrighton and Wiemann on the right, none of whom are adept at the defensive side of the game.

All those full backs aren’t awful they just have crap wingers in front of them or play in a system where attack is preferred to defense.

Lowton just needs to bulk up a bit get pushed off the ball a lot ,Bacuna at right back is working he can move into midfield when we have the ball, also the one time I have seen him play in midfield myself was against Liverpool and I think he looks better at right back myself, I do like him, I would say lamberts best summer buy so far.

When we play the big teams they come at us which means we can play counter attacking game that suits us. But the lower teams put everyone behind the ball and we Havnt got a clue. Having said that Celtic did it last night v barca and tbf barca only managed to create a handful of chances at best so what chance have we got
