I always wear any Villa shirt with pride Giddy, but now I’m beginning to understand the other side of things, where I always ask supporters of lesser clubs “why do you support them?”, while expecting the answer, “because they’re my local team”.
Which is where I always say “fair play to you!”.

The shoe’s beginning to feel like it’s on the other foot these days 🙁

This is the one I’ll buy.
Although I’d prefer it with the Acorns logo, that you can get with the junior’s and kid’s kit, but not the adult’s?

It’s a nice shirt, very much in the European cup mould, but that Dafabet logo is just embarrassing, imo.

Now we’re apparently after Joe Cole, according to the Daily Mail.
A player who Fat Sam didn’t rate as good enough.
This is what we’re now down to. 🙁

We obviously can… Kinda puts the whole we couldn’t afford 35k for Albrighton into true perspective. We’ve have a fair bit of room for wages now, and Cole’s affordable. Cole and N’Zogbia wouldn’t be bad in all fairness.

          That’s fair enough.

It won’t happen and I’d put money on it.
We will not pay the wages he wants, simple.
I don’t even know what he wants, but I’ll bet it’s more than £30k a week, which will rule him out automatically.

Wouldn’t rule him out at all. I have little doubt Senderos came in on at least 30k a week, probably 40k a week. Everyone’s claiming we’ve signed him and it’ll be done tomorrow, SSN’s, radio’s, etc etc. 1-2 year deal, read different things but I have no doubt we could afford his 40-50k wages that he’s brought down a lot from West Ham.

Both Senderos and Cole improve the tean/squad over last year. It may not be as exciting as we wish for, but there were times last season when we were crying out for the experience that these two, along with the returning outcasts will give us.

i don’t expect fans to be jumping up with joy, but just consider where we are. Lerner is trying to sell, and its hard to see any real benefit in the short term from adding too much to the wage bill and spending large amounts on transfers. Hopefully this type of signing will be enough to keep us in the Premiership while keeping the sale price down.

I am struggling to believe we are anywhere close to being sold, and Ianrobo is noticeable by his absence these days. The club does tend to do business under the radar these days, as Senderos and Cole shows (and Keane maybe). Perhaps the same will be true of the sale of the club.

Fair comment DS, Senderos and Cole sure aren’t going to do the squad any harm are they? And how many of us were calling a little quality and experience last term? So now we get some in and they aint good enough?
Come on people get a grip.
And as DS points out the club is up for sale, it’s in Dixons window and so Randy is hardly likely to fork out the money for an extension, new roof and a conservatory is he?
The best we can expect is a tin of paint and the odd roll of paper to cover the cracks.

I don’t think Lambert being here makes any difference to a sale. Just makes sense to do what we can within the limits Lerner has imposed. He will sell if he gets around £200M. Whether that happens is anyone’s guess.

Did Lerner actually ever claim he wanted 200m? Or is it a figure the media came up with simply because that’s how much he’s put into the club and they believe he wants to not lose out on it?

Well whatever the exact figure is is irrelevant bottom line is no one wants us for now and we are stuck with Lerner and lamberk into the new season. Just can’t be arsed with the club now I really don’t give a shit with those two jokers at the helm. I refuse to set foot in VP ever again until those two have well and truly gone which potentially could take years in Lerner’s case

That is your prerogative and right but to claim he’s priced himself out seems a bit farfetched. No doubt he wants to sell and as a businessman, he’s hoping to recoup money + not price himself out of selling.

Cole is a decent signing in all fairness, brings bags of experience and is an attacking midfielder, may not be what we were all hoping for but id rather we have him than not. Same with Senderos, decent backup if Vlaar or Okore are out and has lots of experience. Obviously Lescott would have been my first choice but I think he will have set his sights higher than us to be fair.

Worst of all the signing of Cole and possibly Hoolahan will further retrict the like of Grealish, Carruthers, Gardner etc.
Lambert has proved that he only picks his signings.

Joe Cole, a very good player, 10 years ago, and 5 years ago. Wasn’t really given a run out last season and age looks to be getting the better of him from the times I saw him last season.

On the flip side. Technique never goes away and he has that in abundance, can pick a pass, take players on and knows where the goal is, attributes nonoe of current midfield have, bar a good day from Delph.

I’m not against this signing in teh slightest and it’s no embarrasement to have him at the Villa. It could be worse and he is far better than Westwood, Bacuna, Tonev, Sylla and KEA regardless of his age.

A leader? Not a word I would associate with Cole but still, he has bag loads of experience.

We can’t expect any massive signings while we are in this limbo land and these two are far better than some dog eared 15 year old, division 3 player from Lithuania !!
