Barcelona youngster Adam Traore is flying into Birmingham to discuss his proposed move to Aston Villa. Apparently Villa have agreed a £7 million deal with Barcelona over 19-year old Traore. Barcelona have decided to allow Traore to leave Barcelona after their Barca B side got relegated to the third league. Barcelona want Traore to develop but don’t see him breaking in the first team, and playing in the third league won’t pose as a challenge for Traore and harm development. There are two rumours regarding whether or not Barcelona have a buy-back clause. Some tabloids claim that Villa will pay more than £7 million in order to ensure that the buy-back clause will be removed. Whilst other’s expect a buy-back clause, one that Barcelona often include when selling their young players.
Villa have apparently beat out Stoke City to signing of Traore after Stoke secured the signing of Shaqiri for a £12 million deal. Traore will complete a medical sometime this week and if terms are agreed he’d be Villa’s 10th signing of the season. This would be a massive coup for Villa as Traore is labelled as one of the best young players to come out of Barcelona’s youth academy. Traore is reportedly set to sign a 3-year deal with an option of a 4th.
“He’s a good player, but at the moment he’s Barcelona’s player.” – Tim Sherwood
Traore would be a big, big signing for Aston Villa. He is a very talented individual who would certainly develop at Aston Villa. Villa are in need of a right-winger, and Traore fits the bill. He has pace, good technical ability and has the capability of getting past a player. One of Traore’s biggest flaws is that he is a little selfish at times. Still at £7 million, Traore would be a better signing for Villa than either Aaron Lennon or Townsend (who Sherwood is still reportedly keen on)
