Yeovil – Villa; A weaker, or just younger team?

I detest the idea of weaker teams, especially this early in the season where surely players are still getting into their stride?
There can’t be any tiredness when most of the squad have had a month off, so I can only assume that Bruce simply doesn’t give a toss about the League Carabao cup.

It’s my firm belief that you should play every game to win and …….
I’m sure you know my views, so I’m not going to bore you with them.

So I prefer to think we’re just having a look at the younger members of the squad while still going all out to win the game.

Given that Easah Suliman, Jake Doyle-Hayes, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Corey Blackett-Taylor and Harry McKirdy didn’t feature in the U-23s game against Norwich, you’d expect at least a few of them to feature tonight.
I very much doubt they’ll all get a shot, but if things are going well, why not?

And really you’d expect that things should be going well, given that Yeovil don’t seem to be setting league 2 alight.
But we don’t have a decent record in the cups recently, do we?

I really can’t see past a win here, but you never know.
Maybe Yeovil’s 8ft side to side sloping pitch might catch us out?

Nah!

3-1 to the Villa.

    1. Hourihane and the goalie have both had stinkers but one saves a pen and the other scores a goal. Strange game.

      Still 1-0

  1. Kodjia and Grealish made all the difference – fair play to Kodjia he put their cb’s under pressure and great bit of skill to create the goal.

    Tuanzebe looked good.

If they had a penalty then so should we for hand ball.

Overall not that good but again showed real resilience and Hourihane pops up with another goal and he made up a lot of ground to get there

  2. It wasn’t pretty by any means but we won. We probably would have lost in previous seasons, so whether we are getting lucky or resilient, or both, i will enjoy it while it lasts.

  3. Well a win is a win but I don’t think anyone covered themselves in glory tonight. Jack made a massive difference when he came on and Kodjia showed some real skill. However Moreira looked scared stiff and Hourihane was unusually wayward while Adomah was invisible for a good part of the match.

What’s Bruce learnt? Only that he should pray that none of the starting eleven get injured I should think.

  4. we won again. best start to a season since the swinging sixties. less said about the game the better. i will say tuanzebe looked better at centre back and that should be were we play him, cause hes not the best going forwards in full or wing back positions.
