Wycombe 1 – 1 Villa; Garde out. Yes, even this early.

There are a couple of things I’ve learned about our players this season.

1) Gil is a talented player, who, on his day carries a serious threat and can make things happen.
2) Gestede is absolute garbage and his movement is probably worse than mine.
How long can we keep saying “that was unlucky, because it was just behind him”?
A point can be made in it’s all down to confidence, but I think it’s more than that.

So why did we take off probably our best player in Gil, while Gestede, who didn’t look like scoring in a month of Sundays, stayed on?

Looking at this fairly, Sherwood got slated for taking off Sanchez against Leicester, a decision that helped in his sacking.
By that rating, my opinion says Remi Garde’s decision today will be seen as the same, when it comes to his sacking, which my money says will happen this season or more likely at the end of it when we go down.

Is that harsh or even dare I say Fickle?

Not really, as the truth is, while I’ve always tried to get behind Garde, I was never convinced by his appointment.
From what I’ve seen, he’s far too pragmatic and dare I say, scared.

We should have attacked Wycombe a lot more than we did in the first half and going with just Gestede up front was the wrong tactics in my eyes.

Am I being over-reactive in taking this position?
Well, the last to turn are always the away fans and when they start singing “you don’t know what you’re doing” to the manager, you know it’s only a matter of time.
Also consider that I’m not normally the sort who goes OTT at the first sign of a poor performance.

While Garde looks like he knows what a load of rubbish we are when you see his reactions from the bench, I have no faith in him whatsoever in being able to sort it out and bring the right sort of players in.

Hence, I wouldn’t give him a penny to spend in this window and we need someone who will give this team a kick up the proverbial NOW.

Nigel Pearson is our only hope, even if he gets involved in punch-ups with the players etc.
It’s what we need, as this current squad has absolutely nothing about them.

The trouble is, will Fox be able to see it and actually have the sphericals to act quickly?
I very much doubt it, because he doesn’t have a clue and he’ll be happy because we’ve managed to bring Wycombe back to Villa Park; ie more money in Randy’s pocket.

As for the game, that’s easily summed up in a couple of words, which are all I want to say.

Utter rubbish.

  1. garde inherited international players so they were not all donkeys he doesn’t know how to put a team together Richards looked painfully slow today in actions and thought this new fitness exert seem to be really taking effect with iloris performance for pool,2 what are the dong at BMH?”

  2. Did anyone noticed how easy it was to dislodge our player of the ball, also how bad our distribution was in passing and running off the ball, who the he’ll trains them players, 9 year old kids play better games , Gestede well he’s a joke, Richardson words fail me, we are lost in poor, poor players and not going to get any better in thier life time believe me.what a shower of Shiite we have.

  3. Hitch I watch Worcester warriors quite often & remember that season difference between the 2 Worcester showed spunk & battled even if it was in vein plus they had a full house every home game I wouldn’t go as far as saying they were inept MATE.financial restraints yes

Fair enough Giddy – not sure I was trying to suggest WW were inept but our performances are ‘as inept’ insofar as we look unlikely to win a game this season.

  4. Manure score in the 93rd minute to scrape through jammy b******s.

  5. thoughts on grealish illness, or didn’t want him cup-tied, no mention in team news Friday night that i can see anywhere

Garde is an easy target, so predictable that people will turn on a manager who has been handed pretty much the worst hand in European football right now.
Most of the squad is sulking because Garde is standing up to them… he is clearing N’Zogbia, Gabby and all the wasters out slowly but surely and they dont like it. Why do you think tossers like Grealish aren’t putting any effort in. Because they dont want Garde here because they know come the summer they are finished at this club.
Let Remi get through the next nightmare 5 months and then he MUST be allowed by Fox to clear 80-90% of the squad out

    1. Cavillan avatar

He took the job knowing the squad he was inheriting. We look worse than we did under Sherwood, and that’S difficult to imagine!

  7. Villain1 avatar

However, I wouldn’t blame Remi at all if he walked away from the shambles at Villa. The players are taking the piss out of him and the fans. It’ll probably get to a point where its not worth the aggro and he’ll be better off finding a club where he can build properly.
The Lyon fans absolutely loved Garde and there is good reason behind it… but the typical short sighted fans such as the poster of this article cant get their heads round the fact the players and owner are accountable in this situation

Villain1 – see my earlier post when I was trying to suggest the same. Keep sacking the manager to appease the fans when in reality it’s the Chairman and the board that should be sacked. That in itself is not an endorsement of Garde but more a realistic view that the club as a whole is rotten to the core …… and that starts from the top

Don’t t think garde can get off Scott free
Traore until his injury never started
Rudi plays 90 mins every match kozak never gets on
Bunn looked better today compared to clown guzan
Hutton has conceded 16 goals from right back played up til injured
Richardson one worst players ever in villa shirt keeps getting match time match v Everton a complete joke performance but no garde slaps grealish down in public not fergie way with young players arm round shoulder in public
Westwood would get in my worst villa team along with already named surely some young fellow from reserves has to be worth game,Wycombe was Westwood level and their midfielder showed him up
Rudi 16 games without goal when last attempt on goal, target ,and to top it all no effort useless as bad as babalan

      And the alternatives are……..

You’re not really suggesting they are significantly better …..?

  9. What the f**k, anyone seen the abuse the players got after the game, over the top or what, no need for that, show your frustration yes but that’s just abuse!! If I was remi garde I would get the hell out of this shambles, I wouldn’t want any association with this joke, everything is wrong, if the club ain’t being run right, the manager ain’t in charge of decisions and stats are guiding the players we buy get the hell out.
This is supposed to be an outlet for fans for enjoyment, entertainment and watching players express themselves and it’s all gone sour. Palace game could get nasty!!!
How can we not beat a side from div 2 and get dominated in 2nd half, please remi try playing 442 for a change????????????????????

  10. ara here, Garde out, 5 years of 7 managers and god knows how many players mostly shit or otherwise .. and the best we can come up with is ? … sack the manager again ..

the common denominator is the general strategy, and running of the club.
If you sack Garde, the next manager will be hired by the same people who hired the manager you want to sack now… ?

The same people who are the only common denominator for the last 5 years of decline

ffs I understand the passion, but we are not gibbons in a Zoo screaming at our own reflections, Lerner and Co. are the(biggest) root cause of our woes
and the only logical direction to vent/rant at

Leaving that obvious point aside, who would you have instead pep is it
the only one I can think of that would have just the slightest bit extra qualifying criteria is Nigel Pearson. but as much as he proved he can get a club promoted and keep them in the Prem he also proved he is a short term fuse and public liability.

if he was that good Leicester would have kept him. how do we know that he would even take the job?

Also I don’t think I can stomach another – this is a big club we shouldn’t be here unveiling speech, or more talk of its not his squad blah blah

On a side note, Richards has just gone up a notch in my book for facing some fans today.
we are shite, and he is the captain, he should be taking this type of medicine and it should hurt him. captain of a bunch of losers. that is to say if being captain anymore means anything

In that regard he did go over and listen and he should be using the words he had thrown at him with the rest of the players in the dressing room.

So in fairness .. good on ya Micah for not shirking it today and a decent goal as well.

    1. Villain1 avatar

Agreed. I don’t think Pep, Ancelotti or whatever other name you want to throw in would make a big difference. The club is rotten and the players on the pitch reflect the owner of the club – disinterested, lazy, lacking passion and commitment and not up the job ability wise.
I believe the Villa job is pretty much one of the worst in major European football right now – a club wrong on every single level and it is my strong belief that Garde had no idea just how bad the inner workings of AVFC were.

    2. Great post sir but Pearson’a issues at Leicester where more to do some of the players less than tasteful antics on their Asian trip.
It’s all academic anyway as our glorious leader as already labelled him toxic so he isn’t an option.

      1. Cavillan avatar

Exactly BWS, and his son was one of those players involved, which was the reason Pearson was sacked

  11. i don’t post here anymore, but i have perused occasionally. once was pre seasons predictions. where i saw most of you predicted us finishing top ten. i nearly posted then, but pissed myself laughing and couldn’t type.

but today i had too post, if only just too say sacking another manager like garde whos responsible for no player recruitment. mon was saying same on box. 2 months in football you cant achieve nothing within this timescale. are you all seriously blaming him.

clearly the players aren’t good enough, as myself and many others stated last season, selling and releasing others from last season and again not properly replacing them and not adding to a squad which narrowly escaped relegation for too many seasons pior

p/s i get they spent 50 trillion /billion or was it million. but if you add delph and benteke transfer fee received again lerner spent nothing really of our tv money. the french players would be good recruits given time to settle and a decent squad around them, but its too early too have these as the spine hence why we are struggling.

This is totally unacceptable. Whilst somethings needs to be done and players need to take their share of the blame this is bang out of order.

    1. I know we’re angry but yes out of order that.might make the players retaliate and totally give in.

      1. Disagree Bill, apathy as got us just where mate?

Why wasn’t that twat arrested? Over the top.
It it was directed at Randy Lerner getting on the bus on the other hand…

for £20k a week you can call me all the bastards under the sun.
its called getting a grip of reality mate

      1. Here here Andrew.

      2. Constructive criticism yes, mindless abuse no. Player who ain’t good enough don’t deserve that. If they were the same quality of player as we have had in the past who ARE good enough for them prem then fair enough, they would deserve all the criticism they get.

These players are championship level at best and fans are expecting them, when they blatantly know by their own admissions they’re not good enough, to compete in the Premier League week in and week out.

It’s the same with any profession. You can’t expect boys to compete against men. Everyone can see the players aren’t good enough. That’s not the players fault, that’s the people who employed them fault.

As for drawing with league 2 opposition yesterday well, that’s the glory of the FA Cup. Regardless of what team was selected that result is exactly what the cup is and always has been about. We’ve lost against Doncaster, Leyton Orient, Sheffield United and Bradford in recent years. I’d say that yesterdays result is an improvement on that.

        1. Sorry but I couldn’t disagree more, they may be championship players at best but they have no problem picking up their premiership wages do they?
Constructive criticism? Fans just don’t work on that level this ain’t a debating club it’s a football game and it’s emotive.
Imo it was not so much as about yesterday’s game but about the shite we’ve had to endure for the past 5 years coming to a head and ok it might have been strong but not undeserved.

  13. I think the talk of sacking Garde at present would be madness, but my point is what happens if we show no signs of improvement by the end of the season?

If we want to bounce back, we have to be sure that we have the right man for the job.

    1. And I can guarantee Garde ain’t it.

  14. I found it quite refreshing in today’s sanitized football environment nice to see a bit of passion and to be honest they are f**king w**ners, well apart from Gill.

  16. I have to say that I agree with the comments about the abuse that some fans gave to the players as they boarded the team bus. Whilst I am in favour of supporters being allowed to express their views, there is never any excuse for swearing, particular the f and c words. To me it shows two things, plenty of anger and a limited vocabulary. I dare say that some people will disagree but I was quite surprised that the tirade of swear words was allowed to continue for so long, bearing in mind that there were Police officers right there. There were obviously children there and that type of behaviour is bang out of order. Having said that, I hope that Garde has seen the same footage and sees the reaction of some of his players, either smiling or waving at these fans. It just shows their lack of professionalism. They should have just got on the bus and ignored the abuse. For them to act in a patronising way is a disgrace.

    1. Bum Bum avatar

Sorry to be a smart arse, but it’s recently been discovered that people who swear actually have larger vocabularies, although in this case I doubt this applies to the skinhead in the video.
And also, I like swearing and ‘f*ck’ and ‘c*nt’ happen to be my two favourites 🙂

      1. Hitchens 60 avatar
        Hitchens 60

Personally, I think excessive swearing is unnecessary but I’m not against it as part of the great English language. Frustration of the fans is vent against those that are accessible – the players whilst those who are responsible for the mess hide behind locked doors or only appear in controlled situations – and Lerner, the coward, cowers 4,000 miles away in Yankland.

      2. Sorry BB but that comment is deeply offensive as you appear to be discriminating against the follicly challenged, I find this stereotyping of the follicly disenfranchised totally unacceptable.
We baldies are human too, we have homes, families and friends, hold down jobs and go to church on Sunday but I bet we all look the same to you.

  17. Morning Hitch, agree mate we all can swear but that was a bridge to far, that one fan just wanted to be the leader of the mob by coming out with the c word and f word, I’ve used it but always been aware of who’s about, its maddening knowing the owner not getting the abuses he should get. I’ve noticed our players don’t seem to show the wanting to be a player with skills like Gill, Sinclair, they stand off players and don’t work at it. We Are dire to say the least no way back me thinks.

  18. Now we’re having a discussion on fan etiquette LOL everyone has breaking points & I gather that fan did.remember those players aren’t out of pocket ( they should be) the fans are hard earnt money unlike the players.I feel that fan had every right to vent his anger in which anyway he wished.that could of been me standing there giving it all.

    1. Giddy same here, in the heat of the moment we all do things we later might regret and I don’t think the fella was to too far from the truth, good on him.

      1. It’s not as if he was yelling a pack of lies was it??I’m sure the VILLA bureaucratic band wagon will find out who that traitor was & will be banished forever how dare he say something derogatory regarding our beloved club.

        1. Or worse still – a life time season ticket?

  19. Constructive criticism yes, mindless abuse no.

Players who ain’t good enough don’t deserve that. If they were the same quality of player as we have had in the past who ARE good enough for them prem then fair enough, they would deserve all the criticism they get.

  20. ‘ players who aren’t good enough don’t deserve it ‘ ?? That’s a new one on me.so the fans should be more selective in which way they direct their abuse.

    1. So you’re saying if you was offered 20k a week to play for a club you knew you weren’t good enough to play for you’d decline the offer? Of course you wouldn’t. These players didn’t ask to come to Villa. They saw the money and that was enough. The people who signed them should betaking the abuse.

    2. Giddy, I wouldn’t be happy if a fan was throwing fowl language of that level in front of my children or wife, I know its a football game and if I don’t like don’t go, but should it be left to mobs to rule my life, that was fowl abuse to far, its a family orientated game and yes object but personal aimed? No. We have other means of protesting don’t go, don’t buy, or tell the club. Imo.

  21. They want to get paid 20k a week knowing they are totally SHITE then a bit of abuse comes with the territory.

    1. LOL, a bit of abuse ha ha ha ha ha

      1. A bit /LOADS who gives a FUCK he still gets paid 20k not bad for 90mins of laziness & sub standard SHITE add some abuse to that he’s still overpaid.

  22. good article today in 7500 to Holte.
about whether Remi Garde knows what he is doing.

  23. MATE I think this has been brought up before you can’t avoid foul language at football games & I’m sure there’s choice language going on in playgrounds up & down the country.regarding this certain fan he lost it & blew off some steam we don’t know his circumstances possibly watches them every home & away game & yesterday was the icing on the cake.I try to avoid foul language in front of kids but sometimes it’s hard to avoid.

    1. Above post is for you Bill

      1. Giddy have replied but gone into moderation due to typing error. Bill.

        1. LOL probably too much abuse MATE 😀

  24. Giddy, I Do understand that, I do run a school under 9 football games and heard the odd word or two from them, and they get told , yes he lost it and them type wouldn’t know what to do in a crisis, all im getting at is he took it too far, yes have your say and I would but not at that level Giddy, don’t get me wrong I can give it mate but its when.,

Doesn’t paint us Villa fans in a good light though. We’re depicted as Neanderthals who f and Jeff all the time and give the haters another reason to say ‘good riddance’ to Villa.

I’m all for constructive criticism, but think an on mass demonstration much like Newcastle have done previously are given better press in the media. Everyone outside of Newcastle are aware that Mike Ashley is the problem. With us I don’t think the scattergun approach of blaming Lerner, board, players, manager is doing us any favours. We as Villa fans know that the buck stops with Lerner, time to educate everyone else.

Off topic, but must commend ex Villan Barry Bannan on an excellent goal for Wednesday, fantastic technique.
