What a bloody roller coaster that was!
I’m totally elated, so am struggling for words, but I’ll give it a go.
Ok, the first half was basically shocking. There were far too many players who quite simply weren’t performing in my opinion, but even if we’d lost this game, I’d got it in my head that I wasn’t going to name them, as for me, it just isn’t the right time to be slating the players about a cup game.
Contrary to the commentary I was listening to (the Beeb), I thought the ref was awful from the off and he gave a bad decision against both sides in the first five minutes. Ok, keep the game flowing but when they’re not fouls, just get it right.
Getting to the point then and it’s more about Sherwood again.
There’s no doubt whatsoever from the overall game that he knows how to motivate the players in my opinion.
The fact is we were rubbish in the first half, but came out a different team and scored within five minutes. Surely this can’t be a coincidence, can it?
I could rattle on about how Sherwood made attacking subs and compare him to Lambert, who would have tried to hold the game, to no avail. But I won’t bother, as surely anyone can see it now.
More important than looking back on Lambert’s disastrous reign, is those two shocking sending off decisions.
Even more important is, what were those fans thinking, in invading the pitch before the game was over?
And even more important than that is if we can avoid the winner of the Man U-Arse game in the next round, we have a very serious chance of actually winning the FA cup!

agree with ooh ah zog played very good again and didn’t look to be sulking when subbed again, sanchez should start instead of cleverly I can’t understand fans praising him, he hasnt changed, again there were players running into space but he turns the opposite direction and passes back! It slows our game way too much and stops players wanting to make runs, sanchez always has his head up and looking forward, there was 1 misplaced pass by him to sinclair but only cause he played it in front of sinclair into space but sinclair was expecting a sideways pass to his feet because that’s all he gets from cleverly! Delph MOTM for sure he was driving us forward and showed what he is really capable of, just needs to work on his crossfield balls more. If we play the way we did in the 2nd half with Benteke on the pitch and in half decent form we will beat most teams around us, but I would be worried against the top teams with this style of play think we could ship a few goals but I’ll take a 3-3 draw against man u anyday lol. UTV! !
No idea why zog was subbed didn’t deserve to be. Good that he sulked shows he cares
Great game and fantastic atmosphere.
What a difference a new manager with a positive approach to winning games makes.
With regard the fans on the pitch, no excuse for the premature celebration but on the final whistle great celebrations. A ban would be ludicrous if the Fa decide to implement. A hefty fine is what the club will face. I honestly thought the stewards and police were at fault as the structure or should I say lack of it was non existent. Can’t see why we can’t stay up and possibly win the the Fa cup.
possibly the one reason for the loss of decorum witnessed yesterday, may have come from the strong censorship and prohibition of protesting that has been prevalent for a few years down the villa now we have a free talking regime taking over, i think with the pressures of the last few weeks rescinding, it was a release of all the emotions that have brought us all to support this wonderful game.
The fans who ran on the pitch before the final whistle let the club and the well behaved fans big time; having said that it would be a farce to throw Villa out of the Cup and would completely discredit the competition.
I’m really hacked off that more U.S. not being made of criminal activity of the Albion fans in ripping up and throwing seats at Villa fans below, one of whom was quite badly injured – someone could have been killed. Where’s the Albion apology. Oh no wait a moment, the rules of the FA and protecting the players from their own fans is much more important…… Isn’t it?
*let down
No chance of Villa getting thrown out but they will face a hefty fine. Pity they can’t split the fine up and divide it by the number of morons who went on the pitch before the final whistle and make them pay it. Certainly would make these idiots think twice before encroaching again.
Anyway they aren’t going to spoil my mood. Two great wins in local derbies, a team that look like they’re trying and are finally learning how to pass forwards and a manager who has passion and really seems to know what he’d doing.
Actually looking forward to the Sunderland game 🙂
It’s okay to dream at last.

That was given it was going to kick off yesterday I thought you could feel the vibe on Tuesday and there was 7 thousand of them yesterday.
And this putting the away fans in the upper north stand with the home fans below is a recipe for disaster, if I’d have been down there having seats and God knows what pelted down on me I’d have wanted to get into the pitch. Crazy idea, give them the whole stand.
Feel my daughter made a good point about the timing of the kick off to suit TV coverage. 5.30pm for a local derby in the Cup,allowing fans from both sides to get completely tanked up before the game – we all know alcohol fuels poor behaviour particularly in a high octane / emotional environment. Perhaps the FA, EPL and TV should look at themselves and their greedy pursuit of cash!
Aint that the truth, they’d probably been on the piss since 12, If that had of been the earlier kick of I’d bet a penny to a pound there would have been little to no trouble.
Ridiculous excuse no matter what time a game kicks off its the fans that make the choice to get bladdered not tv companies. Iv been to many a villa blues game at noon kickoffs and still tons of trouble before and after match
Oohah you’re wrong, your site so ban me (again) if you want but you don’t understand the mind of your average knuckle dragger if you think that.
Sorry but chatting and bubbles comes to mind.
Bottom line is they didn’t cause any trouble if they had come on and attacked wba fans or players then fair enough but was good spirited.
That’s true, to be honest this is all getting blown out proportion.
Big day, the first one in how long? Added to that the 3 years of lack of hope or anything resembling football where the hope of seeing a goal seemed too much to ask, all we’ve had to endure and finally something to celebrate.
That’s a lot of pent up frustration and emotion.
Can’t blame Tv companies for that. They don’t put the booze into supporters they do it themselves.
Just seen a video of Albion fans trashing the food / drink areas in the North Stand before the game. Apparently there us an attempt to block it being distributed. I wonder why?
And OohAh, I understand your point but I do believe the way in which kick off times are being agreed to suit TV / Sky and money is fuelling the problem. I can remember when the police objected to certain kick off times for this very reason.
Put the link up H60.
Will try but the good wife showed it me
Who trashed all the pies?
Who trashed all the pies?
You skinny b*****d
You skinny b*****d#
You trashed all the pies!
Or better still.
Who trashed all the pies?
Who trashed all the pies?
bong bong b*****d
bong bong b*****d#
They trashed all the pies!
True but the amount of money clubs ,ale they should be able to afford better crowd control
I was pissed by lunchtime Saturday ,I wouldn’t of ran onto the field there’s no excuse for it & shouldn’t make excuses for it.
You might if you were in the North stand with spit, coins and seats reining down on your head.
Ok then explain the fans running on the field from the HOLTE.
It’s called a celebration Giddy,
Giddy, there is a big diffence between thise idiots who ran on after Sinclair’s goal and before full time and those that went on after the final whistle. Whilst I wouldn’t do it, I don’t really have an issue with the latter and, let’s face it, we’ve seen it more than once this season without the media sackcloth and ashes response as its normally at lower league club grounds where presumably it’s acceptable!
i think what I really object to is the overreaction from the TV pundits and media to the pitch invasion at the end. Yes, in the society we live, in it’s now unacceptable behaviour but I still argue that we should be focusing more on fans ripping out seats and throwing them onto people 20 feet below them but apparently it’s not that important. What if it had struck and killed a child – who would be held responsible? Yet another example of the twisted values that exist in today’s society.
Exactly ripping out seats is far more serious than pitch invasion
At one point when the pitch invasion took place I thought the game was going to be abandoned,if it had would you of said it was an overreaction by the ref or cursed the fans.
Giddy – in respect of the fans that invaded the pitch before the final whistle I’m with you and if the ref had abandoned the game I would have blamed the so called fans. I was shouting at the ones who came on when Sinclair scored as idiots.
That’s the fault of the club they should have put all wba fans in north stand top and bottom instead of segregating them from fans at side of pitch. Piss poor organisation from the club
That’s where I disagree OohAh. The curse of modern society is that individuals are no longer responsible for their own actions, other people (in this case Villa) are. In my view that only leads to a world where we all become controlled by a central authority for ‘our greater good’. Please don’t mock – I’m bl**dy serious about this. Gordon Brown once said that ‘people cannot be trusted to make decisions only Governments are capable and must decide (for us)’ or words to that effect. Is that the sort of world u want? Well I don’t.
Villa are entitled to expect people to behave within the law and not to act like animals.
Spot-on Hitchens, agree with every word you’ve just written mate.
Exactly giddy it’s like the Russell brand saying we are responsible for jihad john ffs.
Another 0-0 in the FA Cup – teams who can’t score should be kicked out.
Thank god for the Villa goal machine 🙂
Yes after the final whistle
They aint your average fans mate, just dickheads. They aren’t there week in week out just pissheads out on a jolly.
Again that’s rubbish I know a few that went on some where woman as well. And they do go to majority of games.
The national lead officer for football policing has questioned the scheduling of Aston Villa’s FA Cup quarter-final against West Brom on Saturday
‘When you have these fixtures you have to be careful about which ones you play. All games have potential (for crowd trouble) but clearly some games have more potential than others.
when you have that sort of fixture, late on a weekend in particular, alcohol is a factor.
‘If you give people four, five, six hours more drinking time, don’t be surprised if in a highly-charged atmosphere, their behaviour isn’t good.
If you looked at the people who came onto the pitch, a few of them looked like they were worse for wear from some substance and I don’t think there is any coincidence that where there’s alcohol involved, people’s behaviour tends to deteriorate.’
‘Broadcasters as well as the football authorities need to start taking these issues seriously.
I suppose he’s talking rubbish too?
Battery dieing see you 2moz.
I think the geezer with the dick on his head was all out to be just that, I’d be inclined to say that was organized disruption with intent, yes I agree that the time of day had a lot to do with fueling twats to act like cattle.
Again it was good spirited invasion. The fa should be grateful to our fans for showing passion for a cup that’s been dying on its arse for past 20 years.
Oohah not on about last minute invasion, that’s expected, its when they came on before the whisle, that was intent to disrupt, as I’ve said booze fuels unreasonable behavior, what them twats did is not excusable ,plus throwing missiles can kill, common sense Oohah is it not.
I guess but no real harm done by invasion. Added to atmosphere imo which is so sterile nowadays.
Came home from the game and watched in full on BBC – I was really irritated by the “experts” Shearer, Lineker, Lawrenson etc – who all slated out first half performance. ” We should be full of confidence, we just won, we were edgy, on the back foot etc etc, no excuses we should do better” Not one “expert” had the insight to say – well actually Tuesday’s win was last gasp, and one bright spot in 4 years of utter garbage, why should it all turn around immediately? Also we had a reserve goalie, 6 defenders out, our reserve rb playing lb, a reserve midfielder playing rb and our centre halves were 4th and 5th choice at the start of the season. Also WBA started well and were looking for a bit of revenge, yes we rode our luck, we stuck in there and really turned it up in the 2nd half. Rubbish pundits – that’s why they are ex players now media junkies – none ever made it as managers.
88, Shearer had egg on his face anyway, he predicted us to lose without Benteke, there’s an old saying in football, don’t count the first 20 minutes, game changes and it did.
88 – I’m with you on the MOTD ‘pundits’; got so pissed-off listening to them having a go at the Villa performance in the first half-hour that I muted the TV sound and listened to the commentary on BBC WM.
Much more like it – except that it was maybe 1 second in front of the TV picture [Sky box] which was a bit odd. Still, I knew we’d scored before Delph’s shot had left his boot!
Well said 88. How the likes of shearer and lawrenson are pundits anyway beggars belief. Shearers got the personality of paint drying ffs! Just a cozy cliquey old pals network. Shearer sent newcastle down and never managed since says it all.
your wrong oohah we sent newcastle down with our ant and dec poster
Better without Benteke? Sorry to break away from the Stadium modifications story, but I thought I would throw a metaphorical spanner in.
Apart from Gabby who missed running on to Benteke’s knock-downs yesterday, and so was not as effective as he had been on Tuesday, I thought the rest of the team played better. There was more variety in the attack. Fully half the forward balls go to Tekkers when he is playing, which meant that Sinclair got little on Tuesday much more yesterday, Nzog has never been given as much ball as he got yesterday since he arrived. But, if Tekkers wasn’t missed in attack, he was missed when Villa were defending corners and free kicks. The number of tall and good headers Albion could assemble was greater than the number Villa could muster.
That’s it, you can now trash your chair and throw it at your keyboard.
OLL – yes and no from me. Definitely in the first half Villa didn’t seem to know what to do without a target man and was widely agreed by the fans around me. What was encouraging was the teams ability to change their style of play second half to reflect this which frankly we didn’t expect.
But can we afford to leave Benteke out of the team and i don’t think we can. What we showed in the second half was an ability to be adaptable and if you add Benteke into that mix it could just be irresistible.
Problem is BENTEKE can’t defend corners properly always loses his man. Benteke has done nothing for us this season and may and may as well stayed injured tbh as wouldn’t make much difference.
Well said on he can’t defend corners properly. Like up front under Lambert this season, at the back since he joined he doesn’t move and yes he’s good in the air, he never tracks his runner, ever.
I don’t Benteke’s absence (or not) had much to do with improved (second half performance) it’s having a manager who played at this level, knows what the premier league is about and what’s expected from the players and last but not least, has some sort a clue what he’s doing!
All this dross about Lambo and his CL medal, well the fella played one season in the Bundesliga playing a total of 44 games out of career total of 574, the other 534 were played in the SPL and have you ever watched it? Deary me it’s poor.
So Benteke in or Benteke out it’s TS that’s making the difference imo.
http://7500toholte.sbnation.com/2015/3/8/8170413/villa-wba-trouble-media-facup
Good article…spot on.
To compare what happened on Saturday to Hillsborough is disgusting and completely unacceptable – the media have gone completely over the top on the as if there’s hasn’t been a pitch invasion in the last 20 years. Complete and utter bo***cks and says all you need to know about media hyberbole.
Just papering over the cracks ! 😉
88
shows how dumb lambert was okore looks very good yes odd slip but still has played less than 25 games at this level, thats 33 games now 99 for combo of cole richardson sendross any one know how many games started subs games finished between them on about100 grand a week wages good value who ever signed off on that
Morning all. Now I’ve calmed down about so called pundits and balanced journalism 🙂 just wanted to pick up again on Oohah’s point about NZog’s performance Saturday. I see that TS has come out in praise of his attitude but it implies he was (is) short on fitness which might well explanation his substitution.
There was a lot of concentration on how TS would improve Benteke but It seems he has Gabby, NZog and Grealish firmly on his sights. If he can get Gabby and NZog playing consistently well and with Sinclair beginning to look like a very good signing then maybe OLL’s observations about Benteke’s role in the team has a lot of credence.
Once again, what does all this say about Lambert as manager, coach and motivator?
Sinclair looks like he’s getting his confidence back things are certainly going in the right direction bring on the mackems preliminary prediction 1-4 VILLA.I’m noticing our GD is now coming in line with teams around us good news imo.UTV
Morning Giddy – good news indeed; what a change from doom and gloom.
Sorry manners morning H60 I’ve a strong feeling negativity will be a thing of the past well let’s say here’s hoping MATE.onwards & most certainly upwards.UTV 😉

Try this link Giddy
What fucking wankers ‘Durs eh fieyer’ dumb fucks probably that was the highlight of there evening.I hope the evidence is passed on to the FA
H60 Just had a look at the video. The brainlessness is incredible even for Baggie’s fans.
Only thing that about it that cheers me up is that its Monday morning and they’ve all have woken up to realise that they’ve still lost to the great and wonderful Villa not once but twice.
Bring on Sunderland. I actually got the score bang on for the cup game so I’m going to look in my crystal ball again and I can confirm that its going to be 0-4 to the Villa 🙂
UTV
Morning all, same here Giddy getting the same, Okore, panel still out on him with me, excellent defender in tight situation but getting back seems to lack pace, could be match fitness its a wait and see to me, but don’t read me wrong good defender, yes Hitch took the kids to school with a spring in my step’s, all the 9 year olds was talking about the game, where’s Nath lads? is he band or what? not heard his take on the game lately, when do we know who we have is it today the draw?.
I was wondering that, he got he’s marching orders about the same time as me but I thought it was just for the night.
Nath if you’re out there come back we miss you.
DITTO where are you my Manchurian mucker???
Soz mancunian fucking spell checker.
Fuck me Giddy that would have upset him mate, you almost called him a Chink.
😀
It was only the one night. He’s obviously got the hump.
Hi Bill, one thing about Okore is he’s quick for a big man and gets back fast which helps him to cover his positional mistakes. He’s made a few good last ditch tackles over the last couple of games. Would like to see him go forward a little more than he does as he appears to have good ball skills.
Yes he has, but couple of times he seems to be beaten on the turn, it could be me I expect perfection, but hey the team has competition now in places, nice to be a Villa boy.
were ball number 4 21.30 after the manu arse game
Cheers Billy Boots, whose channel they on?
