Villa 1 – 4 Stoke ; An absolutely disgraceful performance!

I had a sneaky feeling there was no way we would get 3 wins on the trot at home, hence I predicted a one all draw.
But little did I suspect that Stoke would run out such convincing winners today either. Which they were.

While I’m a very emotional type of fan, along with most of us, I always try to see the better side of things and always try to shy away from the “disgraceful” type comments, particularly in headline posts.
But let’s make no bones about it, Stoke were by far the better side today.

And we were frankly a bloody disgrace.

It all started so well too.
We were knocking the ball around nicely and I even commented that we looked class for the first few minutes where we took a deserved lead via Benteke.

And then, I just don’t know what happened.
We conceded a goal and it seems we just collapsed, with the second coming shortly after.

After that, I just don’t know what to say.
We offered absolutely nothing and seemed increasingly desperate as the game went on.

Let’s sum things up, as I can’t be arsed to actually talk about the game, I’m so wound up;

Simply awful defence.
Shocking tackling all over the place.
First away win for Stoke since August.
Stoke equalled their highest away win ever in the Prem.
First time Stoke have beaten us at home in 38 years (might have heard that wrong).
And the final insult?
They looked a class above us.

Do you know what made me laugh today?
The fans booing Stoke’s delaying tactics, when I’ve criticised us for the very same thing and got slated because “it’s professional”.

Couple all this with the fact that I don’t recall seeing the ground so empty with ten minutes to go, in donkey’s years and I’m minded to think it was a bad day at the office.

No it wasn’t. It was way worse than that.
As for Holt on for the last 10 minutes, I just despair.

Just as things were looking so rosy after last week.

I think I’d best leave it at that.

Todays performance is exactly the reason this whole Lambert reigime is a shambles. I’m speechless after watching that. Could not believe what I was watching.

I was just about starting to regain some sort of confidence in this whole thing but today has fucked it for good.

    What can one say.

After the past couple weeks we expect so much but my god….

The thing that pissed me off the most is the fact the twit Quinn on commentary keeps referring to the players as kids.. no im sorry they are 23 plus.. what they are, are young men trying to learn to play at the highest level and sadly, as saunders clearly said, some arnt good enough!!!!

Last week we worked hard, we got tackles in, we harresed them but today it was men against boys..

Bacuna is not a right bk, he is inconsistent and can not cross for jack!!!!!

Sylla, what does the bloke do exactly???? he cant pass forward, he cant control a simple 10 yard pass, he cant dribble, tackle so someone please help me?

I am Gabbys biggest fan but im sorry its time for him to find the feet again in a lower league… his pace has always been his asset, but hes to heavy now which allows the average full back to keep up, he has the control of a rapeest anywhere on the field.

What the hell was Baker doing all game, if he wants crouches shirt for god sake ask for it after the match, it was embarrising, for god sake let Crouch win the ball and ppick up the 2nd ball.

Why the hell did he bring albrighton on and play him in what looked like the tip of a diamond? WHAT THE F@@K!!! every time he got the ball he dribbled it across to the right hand side? why not just start him out there?

THen he brings on Holt for extra height/power lol lol lol lol olololololo shawcross must be in the bus in bloody stiches.

Im tying to stay on Lamberts side I really am but today is a reality check… I now we had injuries but at least play players in correct positions! Gary Gardner has not had a chance.. ive only seen him in highlights but I bet he is 10 times better than sylla or al ahemedi or what ever his name is!!

Stoke did play well, there is no denying that, they were very good today, but I cnt help but notice how easy it was for them.

Even before the injuries we were struggling. I got sick of commentators going on how young the team were. This young bollox is a myth it is possible to be young and good. But our youngsters simply don’t learn even from their own mistakes. There is still decent experience on the field, gabby, vlaar, Bertrand, Guzan and holt on the bench who would of been bought specifically for that purpose. Instead he is here on wages that should of gone towards getting a decent am and centre half like shawcross who apart from the first 10 mins had Benteke in his pocket. The second half was a non event and an almost exact reversal from tge Norwich game. Bacuna and Bertrand are not good enough as full backs. Why was bennet dropped was it lamberk picking Bertrand to appease mourinho and lick his arse. It’s simply not good enough and this is as bad as anything iv ever seen at VP in over 40 years of supporting them. The sad thing is it will exactly the same next yr anyone stupid enough to get a st next season needs their head examined IMO. By all means go to games but if the home form continues as likely to at least there is no financial to keep going.

How can we so good last week and so awful this week . We would have took 6 points from the 3 home games . Gabby for me is a liability . I moved quicker than him today and I was sitting down . Anyone of us could have gone and stood by a Stoke defender today . He does not create his own space , he offered nothing whatsoever . Bad day at the office for all of them . Let’s forget this one and move on just like the myth that Gabby is a good player UTV

On the plus side… ok, there isn’t one. We missed Wiemann and KEA when they went off. Sylla wasn’t very good at all and WTF was Albrighton doing in the middle? He’s great on the right wing. Last time he was on he played on the left wing so Wiemann could go down the right. So we have a right winger playing out of position on the left so a striker can play out of position on the right. All in all I think today was just a very bad day at the office, with a lot of silly mistakes and a huge amount of frustration. Benteke’s goal was good and there was some good link up play up front. Just far too much giving the ball away and trying to play in the air against a taller and stronger team. I’m going to forget about it completely and cross my fingers for next week.

That match showed exactly why Paul Lambert is a poor manager. A good manager would use the confidence from last week’s game to drive us forward but not Lambert, the moment Stoke scored, the whole team and tactics went to pot.
1-3 down at home and not even a measly shot of note in the 2nd half says it all. Dreadful management from a sub par team, with only Delph coming out with any credit. The odd win here or there papers over some huge cracks. We’ll stay up but we’ll be in the same position next season at best. It’s hard to see any kind of future at VP.

Another Lamberk special, have Stoke ever even scored 4 away from home in the PL before? Probably add that to the list of humiliations Lamberk and his useless turds have subjected our loyal and long suffering fanbase to.
The 3 players that came on during the game epitomise the shambolic nature of our squad:
Sylla- a useless prat from the french 2nd tier who looks as shocked as anyone else as to what he’s doing in a PL squad
Albrighton – adored my a section of our brainless fanbase simply because he’s a Villa fan- as if that really matters to anyone. Runs around a lot and produces nothing
Holt- Rosler saw him for the fat useless lump he is at Wigan, but then again he doesn’t play hoofball like loser Lamberk.
Burn AVFC to the ground for all the good it does.

Think stoke have only scored 6 away all season says it all. Their first double over us since 1966 ffs. I think Lamberk is trying to out do Moyes to see who can get tge most unwanted records for tge club. Lamberk def ahead so far.

Well, what have we got so far…

        – The record defeat in all competitions (which is f*cking amazing considering we were born in the era of cricket scores).

Actually, I’ll stop right there. I could mention the abject humiliation of Bradford, Millwall and Sheffield United, but that 8-0 in the modern era is just the most humiliating stain on our ‘Proud History’ that I can think of. Jeez, even Doctor Jo, Billy McNeill or Graham Turner didn’t sink to that level and they were by far the worst managers I’ve experienced in my time.

For me, no matter what he ‘does’ with us (and let’s face it, he ain’t gonna win the league or European Cup), that ‘record’ will always follow him.

I’ll put my neck on the block for this 1 but…..the reason I believe for yesterday was simple & it sent out a clear msg to players…..

Dropping Bennett after the Chelsea game was a massive mistake. Now before you shoot me down, he is why I am of this opinion…..

Bennett had his best ever game in a Villa shirt. He didn’t deserve to be dropped for a loanee who is getting his form up to go back to Chelsea to attempt to break into their 11.

What kind of signal did this send out to our players? Play your heart when you get the chance & you’ll be rewarded the following game? Or did it send out, doesn’t matter how well you play, Lambert is going to stick to the same players & play players out of pos…..

Gabby and Andi, are not wide players. They are strikers. Play them up front and they will get goals but for all most 2 years, those 2 players are played out of pos.
Bacuna, when he signed for Villa, wanted to play off the striker, his own words he wanted to be our Frank Lampard…plays at Right Back…..

Why would any player, have any motivation to play well after Chelsea knowing full well they aren’t going to get dropped?

Awful game, i fully expected us to lose as we are Aston Villa and always buckle but to lose like that was embarrassing.

The players were totally at fault and as much as i’d like to blame Lambert, they have to take the responsibility for that one.

For the first half an hour i thought we were going to end up 4-1 winners, we kept possession and our goal was very well worked.

But then Stoke equalised, the players dropped their heads and never got them back.

Had they of continued like they had in the first 30 mins i’ve no doubt we’ve had scored again and gone on to win the game.

Utter utter dross and the players need to learn from this, they showed in the first 30 mins they have the ability to retain possession and are dangerous on the break but if you crumble like that you will be beaten easily.

I’ve said for a long time we should have bought N’Zonzi and today he made our midfield look like children. What i wouldn’t give for some steel in the middle of the park.

The way we played in the first 20 mins of the game is where Lambert wants us in the long run. Those first 20 mins where Lamberts & it looked impressive the rest of the game was the players fault.Look at it this way get that first 20 mins for a whole game which I believe is Lamberts aim coupled with some quality in the summer we could be able to push on from this season…..Chins up me lads we have seen yesterday before on to Manure where we will go to win & have a chance now I’ve had chance to think about it……We love the Villa……VTID….

But this is the problem apart from Chelsea game we havnt put a good 90 mins in. Every team in the prem can play good football in patches like Cardiff did v Liverpool but doing it for tge whole game is another matter. This is the difference between a sky 4 team and tge rest of us. A couple of quality players is only going to improve us by a couple of league positions at best. The rest of the team is not good enough to lose 4.1 to Stoke at home s arguably the biggest humiliation of all time

well!!!! here we go again, win were brilliant and lamberts a genius, beating teams like chelsea man city, arsenal and playing pool off the field wasn’t flukes or they didn’t let us win. lambert can’t be blame for every rubbish performances. i know he bought the crap. but its not like he had the wage budget or transfer kitty to do much else

unfortunately we have cut cloth accordingly to erase debts of former glories. this is wot happens, our players are not of the caliber of what you all believe, we aston villa should have.

players are responsible for wot was a totally inept performance, they believed the nonsense wot was said about their victory.over champion chasing chelsea. apart from benteke. the whole team thought they made it finally . big time charlies.

finally i have stressed 2 the hilt bacuna shouldn’t be considered at full back. totally can’t play this position, reasons is he doesn’t think like a defender. unless we play 3 at the back i would play any DEFENDER there b4 him. also sylla was not much of a gamble cheap and young but hes not premier class and never will be. iam sure we have kids who can sit on bench and when called on, produce MORE than him sorry

Fair point but the majority of games especially at home have been total dross. It’s not the fact we lost it’s the way we lost. We were totally outclassed by a stoke team who had their biggest away win since the prem started. If we had played really well shown some effort and lost 1.0 then fair enough. But we were totally humiliated yet again by lamberks team.
