Swansea 4 – 1 Villa; Another 4-1 loss!

I think that’s the third 4-1 loss we’ve suffered in the last few weeks isn’t it?
At least it wasn’t at home this time, but that’s really not much of a plus point.

For what it’s worth, I actually thought we played well at times and certainly around 15-25 minutes or so, we applied some nice pressure which resulted in a super cross on the run from Marc Albrighton (something I’ve always rated him as being very good at) and Gabby putting the ball in the net after Bony had taken the lead for Swansea.
It was certainly a deserved equaliser, but then we had a bit of a calamity from Guzan’s clearance which resulted in Jonjo Shelvey hitting an absolute peach of a volley from god knows how many yards out that left Guzan with no chance. The strike showed superb technique and for me, is up there as a contender for goal of the season.
I won’t pick on Brad there as it was just one of those wonder strikes.

We didn’t let our heads drop too much though and still battled on fairly well, although I had a sneaky feeling we wouldn’t get back into it.
Albrighton (my MOTM again) was whipping some super balls in and any decent striker would have probably had a hat-trick today (Bent anyone?) but nine times out of ten, there was nobody on the end of them.
Sod’s law says I took a toilet break for Swansea’s third goal, so I can’t comment on that.
But when I did start watching again, it seemed to me that the lads had just lost heart.

Then, when Holt came on for El Ahmadi and signalled a four up top, I basically gave up too.
Is it just me who thinks this is schoolboy tactics?

A penalty that you just knew Guzan wasn’t going to save rounded things off on a day where nothing really went right for us and left me despondent, as I thought this was one of the three games that we really ought to win. Just Hull next week left out of my three and I’ll definitely be going.
Not that I’m looking forward to it much.

While we huff and puff, we quite simply aren’t good enough. It’s as simple as that.
Please let this season end as soon as possible, with us getting enough to keep us up, so we can go again.
But please not with any of the current hierarchy. If we do go down and it’s looking very possible, even though I think we’ll scrape it, it’ll be their fault and will serve them right.

    1. Yes Morgan but do we look capable of getting that? I really think we are reliant on there being three teams that don’t get more points than us, and maybe staying up on goal difference. I think Norwich and Fulham will drop, so we need either Sunderland or Cardiff to fall short. I can’t really decide whether a draw between those two today is best. Defeat to either club against a relegation rival may be demoralising and enough to lose heart. It’s just sickening to be in this position.

  1. For me the problem is clear. The players just don’t work hard enough. Not enough closing down or pressing. We get picked off when we give teams loads of time and space. With the odd exception I think the players have become more and more lazy over the course of the season and because of the thinness of the squad, the lazy ones know they will still play the following week. Most of the team from yesterday should be dropped for next week but they are pretty much all guaranteed to start again next week. Baker is a case in point. He should never be anywhere near the first team after his antics yesterday, but because Clark is just as bad we all know that Baker will start against Hull. 90% of fans have been calling for Weimann to be dropped these last few weeks because he doesn’t put a shift in, but week in week out he starts. To rid the squad of the laziness I’m afraid it will require an entire new management team with a tough new approach. Then we’ll read about player revolts, unpopular methods etc but I’m afraid if you’re going to be a successful professional footballer you have to work very hard on the pitch – just watch the work that teams like Bayern, Real, even Liverpool get through in 90 mins and then compare that to our players. It’s no wonder we’re struggling.

    1. Agree with what you say Kevin but I wonder sometimes if that is tactical rather than laziness. We are pretty useless with the ball, and manage to lose most matches where we dominate possession (not many I know). I think against teams that are good in possession we sit back and try to win the ball in our own half and break quickly. Unfortunately our fit forwards aren’t good enough, and our midfield doesn’t have the ability to play the right pass anyway.

We are light years away from being a good team, yet at the same time the addition of some real quality in a few positions could make a massive difference, particularly if our long term injured were available.

  2. NATH.. no offence mate but you are talking SHIT..

Take the blinkers off.. PL is a clown.. he needs to GO..!!

  3. Well results so far mean Cardiff and Fulham will need to win both their two remaining games (as long as our gd doesn’t get a beating) and Norwich need a win and a draw so I personally think we will be safe without picking up another point but it’s lucky as fuck and Lambert and Lerner need to go.

      1. City will out of race by then trust me I know they are 1 up but will still be a draw. They can’t defend to save their lives

        1. We carnt defend aswell as attack & as for the bit in the middle say no more.they’ll still stuff us.

  4. It’s looking fairly likely now that the bottom 3 will be Norwich, Cardiff and us.
Sunderland are playing well and Fulham’s last 2 games are against teams that are playing for nothing and Magath will win both, of that I am sure.
We are almost gone and thanks to Lamberk so could our chances of a new owner. It’s fully deserved though, we 100% deserve relegation for the utter disgrace the manager, board and players have been over the past few years.

      1. Theres plenty to positive about isnt there. Any more personal insults you will be banned hence why I edited your comment.

        1. Agreed…loads to be positive about…how about this for starters..we are staying up…Lambert is a gonna….Lerner is selling up….significant investment will be made otherwise potential new owners would be pointless. Lerner has clearly given up knowing that he was selling up, hence no significant spending. As Paul Merson said yesterday ‘if you knew you were gettind divirced, you wouldn’t go and buy your wife a new settee’. Fucking great quote that sums up Lerners attitude perfectly over the last 3 seasons. So yes, loads to be positive about..roll on August!

      2. And you are a sheep. But wait and see, Fulham will win both remaining games to relegate us. Wait and see

      1. agree we wont go down but the fact is we shouldnt be in this position in the first place. on a different note chelsea are playing reserves v liverpool disgrace imo. if villa were man city we would be livid. totally unfair handing it to liverpool on a plate. easy win for the bin dippers now

    1. Same was said for Fulham against Hull, who supposedly had nothing to play for. Liverpool fans have claimed their biggest fear is playing Crystal Palace, not Chelsea, and plus when has Pulis ever told his team not to play as hard as they can? We’re not going down.

      1. true but if pool go 1 up today its game over. even in the unlikely event chelsea won today they still wouldnt win it so cant blame them really though if I was a city fan id be going mental. remember palace can easily beat city today in fact i dont think they will get more than a point. I told u the bin dippers would win the league Andrew lol my predition today pool 3. chelsea 0 and palace 1 city 1

        1. I think City will be too much for Palace and City will actually take all 3 points. 3-1 City. Also do think Mourinho will roll over for Rogers today (team setup seems to prove that too). I’d agree 3-0 Liverpool.

          1. I might be wrong after all 1.0 Chelsea though can’t see it lasting pool will get 2 goals IMO

          2. Knew City had it, Pool losing, Gerrard looked rather hopeless. Kinda sad but with Everton’s completely depleted squad, us and West Ham being on vacation already. City’s got this.

    2. Nah. Cardiff Fulham and Norwich. Although we’ll be lucky to get another point under Lamprat.

  5. lerner going to get what he deserves for appointing mcleish. 4good years under mon,to 4 horrendous since,90 million spent since bar benteke who would you get money back never mind profit.lambert has to be replaced before tues get anyone in 1 win against hull surely somebody could gee up players for it

    1. just hope the fans really let their feelings known v hull.win lose or draw the crowd must turn or lerner and lambert will def be here next season

      1. I agree, but not until after the game. I will be cheering on the team throughout the 90 minutes but after that we should let our feelings known when the players come out for what will be a pathetic lap of honour!

  6. Cant beleave people think we cant go down i think three losses and we will the really sad thing is i dont think i will care that much which is amazing as i used to live for the club. The current regime have sucked all the fun and optimisum out of supporting Villa for me and if we stay up nothing will change and it will be a relegation fight next year dont beleave the hype and spin about what could happen in the summer.

    1. Hope so 1.0 at the mo to Chelsea though can’t honestly see Liverpool not scoring Chelsea can’t hold them out forever. Revised prediction 2.1 to Liverpool still 1.1 at palace

        1. Never saw that coming 2.0 to Chelsea but still can’t see Chelsea winning as Liverpool only need a point at palace and Newcastle at home is as easy as it gets. City will draw today so will still be out of it

          1. I think you need to give up on your predictions? Liverpool to win and Man City draw, hope you didn’t put your money on it.

            1. Ha ha yep took me by surprise I must say. Fortunately for me I don’t bet it’s a mugs game IMO. Just as well or I’d be living in a car park near VP. Still think Liverpool will win the league though as can’t see city beating Everton

    1. We ain’t going to win Saturday mate we will not get another point this season have a reality check we have just been battered by Swansea our owners a fuckin disgrace as this is his fault for penny pinching and Lambert can’t do anything with a bunch of 2nd raters.Going down

      1. MATE I most certainly can say I was taking the piss to another level with that post.

        1. I have not had enough beer yet to get rid of the serious depression that is AVFC lol

          1. I could recommend a good head shrink mate, he only has VILLA fans as clients there’s unfortunately a 10yr waiting list

      2. Might get a lucky point which will make us all but safe. As hull are safe and may have a weakened team for cup final. Plus Bruce loves us and wouldn’t want us to go down lol

        1. mate was reading your comment on the fella that had his ticket (or not as the case may be) and that all fits in with lambert and his huge over inflated ego and his inability to take criticism, a phuuking disgrace!

      3. Yes we are crap, however we won’t go down . If you believe we will take the 9-1 odds.

  7. I’m Paul jibber must fuck jibber ruin villa jibber Lerners a cheap [edit] jibber go again jibber fucknut
Jay dee please do not use C word mate. Thanks Oohah

  8. Cardiff and Fulham both need to win their two remaining games and Norwich need a win and a draw to finish above us. What is the likelihood of any of those teams achieving those results?

    1. ..it looks like Fulham is the only danger. If they can win both, they are up to 37. We are at 35. In such a situation a point to Hull will mean nothing.
Hopefully, Fulham will not win at Stoke and we are through.

    2. Yet another repeating what I said on here yesterday. Catch up lads 🙂 excellent day for us today…no way are we going down. I cant stand another season of this shit next year though. Fuck off Lambert AND lerner. We want some serious investment and ambition after 4 years of absolute shit!

  9. Paul Lambert: Says Hull game is a cup final for his Aston Villa side?????
What is he going to field an understrength side? I thought the prick didn’t do cup competitions?
What a moronic hypocritical wanker this guy is (imo).

  10. Hi guys….yes we do deserve to go down. Got to look forward now though…get rid of Lambert, Lerner and invest.
Not been on here for ages……couldnt afford my Broadband connection after Terry Jones sued me in the High Court 🙂
Fuck off Lambert AND Lerner, the Villa is OURS

    1. Fuck me was wondering where you’d gone. Go into a cafe and get free wifi 🙂

    2. We have a Quorum welcome back Langford when BWS said I looked and he’s bloody back, Langford need you to educate one or two on here they still believe things are OK. We want our club back.

  11. Haven’t written in a while purely down to feeling so deflated with our team. I just don’t see a single point for any remaining games. These guys have nothing to play for. Lambert is out of a job, half the squad will be dropped or sold and Lerner wants out. Aston villa is arguably now the most embarrassing team to support in league football. The management is just pathetic.why os helenius not playing? Surley a 4 4 2 with agbonahor and helenius is dynamic enough to get a goal or two until the end of season.

  12. This wonderful club is in a right fucking mess….we cannot afford to be relegated and we cannot have either Lambert or Lerner here next season. Going down would be disastrous for us. We need owners with serious ambition and investment.
I didnt even feel this down in the dark old 3rd division days…..we was always going to come back again given that it was still a game largely supported by the ‘working classes’ where by large numbers people turned up at VP no matter what, and football was about glory and not poundnotes. Those days are gone and you will find that we will be lucky to attract 25000 in the Championship.
The demise of this club CANNOT be allowed to happen. We have one final home game to confirm our safety. I implore every Villa fan to get behind the team for 90 minutes on Saturday and then, I believe that we must vent our anger in whichever way necessary to make Lerner both sack Lambert and then sell up to people with both cash and ambition to move us forward…..UTV
    We will NOT be relegated!
Fuck off Lambert AND Lerner, the Villa is ours!

  13. lambert is irrelevant at this point i think, who amongst the current set up would manage to get a better result? i think the players are pretty rubbish too.

Lets just hope against hope that we get a point against Hull, I am starting to get the major squibblies about staying up!

    1. Hang on Colonius. Who picked Holt for the Palace game, with no supply from wide (Albrighton)? And lo and behold, next two games selects the supply (Albrighton) and no target man. Even my grandson questioned those selections and he’s the grand old age of ten.
Fuck off Lambert AND Lerner, the Villa is OURS

      1. Ahhh i see, thats where we went wrong! Not putting in grant holt! On Saturday!
Did agbonlahor not score from an albrighton supply?
Did you personally attend the training which justified your grandsons selection!
Look it its deck chairs on the titanic almost (not as inevitable and but just as pointless)
At this point i am not defending lambert i think he has lost the war now. He probably did make mistakes for selection te last few games but tell me the coach/ interim manager that would get a better result out of our sorry squad now.
We could point out a thousand better decisions at 6pm on Saturday but its jus pointless now.
At the same time your criticism is valid, not having a go either but just think that with 3 games to go – manager and owner on the way out and just probably 1 point needed lambert and whoever would step in for a couple games ????
        Much of a muchness

I just want this season to end now and get on with the dice roll of new ownership/management etc

  14. Bloody hell Langford, nice to see you back mate 🙂

    And for once, I totally agree with you, with no debate;

    We will NOT be relegated!

Very close yet again though and it’s just not good enough.
