Spurs 0 -1 Villa; What a brilliant 3 points!

Well, that was unexpected, wasn’t it? Well, it was from me anyway.

That is the first game Spurs have lost at home since November, let’s not forget that.

While it might be easy to say that Spurs didn’t play to their best and had vital players missing, the latter point seems to have applied to us for a very long time.
They had a somewhat makeshift defence and so did we. Hence you can’t give Spurs any credit for that, in my opinion.

So what made this one so good?
It was simply the overall application.
Anyone who thinks that the players don’t want to play for Sherwood is quite frankly deluded and those players on the pitch today ran their proverbials off.

There were four possibles for man of the match today.
Delph for his constant running and energy.
Sanchez, who did what I expected him to do, in being a holder/stopper.
Benteke, who got the goal, but more importantly is beginning to show another dimension to his game, with his passing and vision.

And the Villa fans who were actually there.

You never know how the fans sound at the ground, compared to how the mics are set up, but from where I watched the game, they were simply outstanding and I think they edged it.
The consensus overall, is that we have brilliant away fans, some of the best in the game.
Hence I’m happy to give it to them.

I’ll probably expand more on my thoughts about the actual game in the thread, but my immediate thought is “papering over the cracks?”.
I don’t think so and to be honest, I’m glad to see some Sherwood haters proven wrong.

There aren’t many teams who win at Spurs and I’m simply chuffed to bits.

There are still many twists and turns to be seen before this season is out.

Brilliant result, For a manager that has lost the dressing room and has no tactical nous that’s an amazing result.

Agree with Tekkers post on previous thread, Can’t see Benteke staying in the summer, especially if he is fit. 🙂

Thats very defeatist B6! Benteke Will NOT leave and we will NOT be relegated.

Have you no faith in Tim? There is a real positive vibe in the camp and in the dressing room!

Have you joined oohah and his negative cronies?

      Keep the faith!

      We will NOT be relegated!

BTW Burnley are losing! What a great footballing day!

There’s a real buzz going on. It wouldn’t suprise me if he srayed one bit. If he does go it’ll be for near £30m + as he’s proved once again he’s not a one season wonder when fit. Will the sale happen? Who will Sherwood target????
Well done to the whole team today!

Cheers B6. I am loving our attacking play. Thats the way football should be played. I said at the start of the season that this team has definetely got a top 10 place in them. Unfortunately Lambert strangled the life out of them. I have some pity for Lambert as the job got to big for him and Lerner’s pennypinching doesent help.

Great result and performance. Benteke, Deph played great as did most of the team. Hope Clark’s injury is not too bad! At least he doesnt have a suspension hanging over his head. Maybe fit for Wembley as I think hes been our player of the season.

Well done Tim…we would have been relegated by now under Lambert.

Fans were amazing as usual. New hope in B6. Onwards and upwards!

    We will NOT be relegate

BTW the Albion and Newcastle are getting dragged into the mire! 4 more points will see us safe IMO!

We will NOT be relegated. Just hope Lerner gets his buyer and hands Tim a decent transfer kitty.

I actually think that we are in good and capable hands at longlast!

I love the ‘we will score more than you’ attitude….at least its decent to watch and entertaining. Entertainment and 100% effort is enough to keep me well happy!

A few points on today’s game… Benteke, to keep it short and sweet, the beast is back! Delph is relishing his new role as captain. Gabby and Benteke up top is finally working. I think Cleverley is really enjoying himself now, he played some lovely passes today. I’m really disappointed that Sanchez got a red today, I like him and feel he’s really adapted to his role last few games. Feel like he’s got a bit of unfair criticism. All in all, I would’ve taken 3 points this week. A win against QPR and a loss today would have been seen as a success to me.. Instead we’ve got 4 points from both games! The only way is up now..

Great Result today, I think it possible if we carry on like this we will not lose another game until the Wembley Final……….

Woudnt that be a turn up for the books, I was unsure about Sherwood in the beginning but he is growing on me and he is sending out the right messages to the players, the supporters and the club.

Looks like the Baggies are beginning to buckle as well, its becoming a twisted end to the season.

I’ve been thinking about some of, well most of, the players that Lambert signed and whilst he did sign some shit overall he did actually, imo, sign some quality too.

This hasn’t come to light just cause we won today but over the period of a few months. Imo Sanchez, Benteke, Okore, Guzan, Sinclair, Gill, Lowton and Bennett are all really good top quality players (ok I was taking the piss with Bennett).

Am I being daft in suggesting that Lambert would probably make a very very good scout? Whilst I thought what he did at Norwich was excellent, maybe management isn’t for him. Would anybody else like to see him in someone of scouting position at VP or am I really being senile? 🙂

True a lot depends on how teams below us do with games in hand. Though it is better to have points in the bag imo. Just hope we don’t get too bogged down with cup we still need another 5-7 points imo so can’t relax yet.
