Sheff Utd- Villa; God knows, tbh.

It’s a very short one, as I’m up to my nuts in work again.
I very much doubt I’ll get to see the game.

The truth is, I haven’t really kept track with who we’ve signed and who we’ve lost.
But us looking to bin Adomah is a disgrace, in my opinion, especially when he did such a good job for us last year and was voted as the player’s player of the year.

I know many of us think we need to look towards a younger squad, but is this how you should repay your best performers, even if they’re not performing at the moment?
I believe Adomah has plenty to offer, albeit he needs a rest.
Bruce has denied all sorts, but I’ve no doubt it’s true, given his brother’s comments.

Onto the game then and d’you know something?
I really don’t care about the result here.

That sounds mad, I know, but my opinion is that whatever happens, it won’t be season-defining.

Yes a loss will see us move further down the table, but it’s a long game and one that I suspect that will see us in a better position overall, than tomorrow’s league table.

The sad part is that I can’t be bothered to offer much at all to the debate, as all that matters is results.

Our footy is poor and I’m beginning to wonder what on earth Bruce is thinking, given his attacking signings when opposed to his generally negative approach.

I don’t believe it bodes well, but let’s see eh?

You want a prediction?

1-1.
At best, imo.

I think Abraham and Bolasie will be our new central defensive partnership with chester moving upfield

So maybe Bruce can convert Kodja to CB and play Abraham at LB. This would free Elmo to be lone striker feeding off Hutton and De Laet. Therefore maintaining is 5-4-1 formation. Okay probably being sarcastic and he might realise that attack is best form of defence. Bolasie definitely not playing tomorrow though. Prediction 2-0 to Sheffield United. Just can’t see a smash and grab like last season. And we aren’t due another decent 45 minutes for a few more games yet. That bit is not sarcasm!

i thank you all for posting over the hours of loan window shutting, i enjoyed the read and catch up of current affairs i missed.

i am sorry i am feeling positive, we have recruited some fine players bolasie will be a massive hit with fans, if he is the same guy i saw a few seasons back with palace.

mcginn has improved midfield hes not a one trick pony, he is a all-rounder and box to box.

Abraham i think will be the final piece in our jigsaw. we really have nothing to complain about, this guy like our other signings are a class above championship. add grealish to this and the other winger settles in to the rough and tumble of championship.

we really have no excuses again this season. bruce failed last season, in my opinion should have fallen on his sword. he had massive pressures with family bereavement. which would have affected anybody. thats not a excuse its facts

i understand the worries at centre back and left back. bruce being a solid defender in his time. knows the risks of not signing a cb and allowing elphick go. he has been playing bree there and likes what he sees. de leat also can play there, plus hutton played there pre season asswell. me personally would like tuanzebe to play there. so bruce has players to play there. the only worry i can see is if chester gets injured.

green being loaned isnt a problem, the kid needs games and he wont get ahead of the new wingers at this moment. he is definitely a good player and will return a better player. because he just needs games and confidence will return

My concern is that bruce is a defensive manager and is trying to hide this by signing forwards. But you have to play in away that allows you to attack.
Will he play kodja and abraham together a s 2 strikers. I think he will stick with one up top.

Morning all . To be honest I couldn’t call this game to be honest neither can Bruce, no established CB ,no left back , well if he don’t get this right 2-3 game might see him gone. Adomah from what I’ve read as been at loggerheads with Bruce since last season and if you remember that’s the time Adomah lost his way. Today we play a team that’s on form and a score to settle with us, I don’t think we will win, 0-1 to Sheffield but my heart want us to win, I’m wishing the lads good luck and get a win.

On Adomah – which came first Bill the chicken or the egg? I haven’t read any of the stories about him as one never knows what to actually believe. However, if they are at loggerheads is it related to Adomah being refused a new contract?

On today’s game – depends who’s fit to play. With Grealish, McGinn and Kodjia all available then we have a decent shout – without them we have little to no chance of securing any points.

Assuming all are fit – draw (again) for me otherwise 0-2 Sheff.

Hitch, go on the web you will read about his brother slating Bruce off for the way he’s treated Albert, apparently last year he told Adomha he wasn’t renewing his contract and that sparked the reaction from him.

Ah so it is related to his contract Bill. Well, all managers in any kind of business have to make tough decisions and not renewing a players contract is hardly a rarity. Not read the piece but surely it’s better to be straight with a player than con him into thinking he has a future?

Suspect Adomah is a bit of a marmite character with the fans.

I’m not a big Adomah fan, but in the absence of Kodjia last year he was instrumental in keeping us in with a shout of promotion. He is contracted until some time in 2020. Bruce refused to give him an improved contract, not a renewal. Given the financial situation I guess that was fair enough. I don’t feel that should have led to the current apparent rift, and the fact that Bruce was fine with him leaving this window, along with Green. An unnecessary risk it seems to me. Squad depth is always crucial at various points in the season.

Get all that DS and, having now read the piece, they wanted to reduce the terms of a new contract for Adomah – which is what Hutton either accepted or offered to do to get the one year extension.

It seems Bruce is not convinced by Adomah (despite the first half of last season) and Adomah’s move to Middlesbrough fell through over personal terms – or so it’s reported. They also say that Adomah is happy at Villa so one would think he might have been prepared to compromise to get his contract renewal? Anyway he’s out to prove Bruce wrong (again) which should bode well for the team!

On Green, I admit thinking it was a sensible move. Green was out all last season with injury and would benefit from playing regularly which wasn’t about to happen at Villa.

            Football – all about opinions!

nobody should worry about the manager. if he can not build a team from our squad of players, the new owners will remove him, its that simple. he wasn’t their manager to start with, so will be on trial, sounded like wanted to change straight away, but they listened to the fans who pre season got behind bruce.

any other manager would relish the villa job with the talent we have, we should just support the club now and enjoy the football. trust the owners. they want promotion this season.

See that Abraham has credited JT and Grealish for helping to make up his mind to join Villa. Good to see JT ‘supporting’ the club.

Yes watched same interview Hitch. It’s nice that Terry speaks highly of us after just one season there.

As for the team today, I just can’t see Bruce playing two up front, particularly as Sheff Utd are strong at home and on a bit of a run. I’m not sure that Kodjia would link well with anyone, but him and Abraham don’t look like a partnership that would work.

I’ld be pleasantly surprised to get anything out of this match, and with the players at our disposal that would be criminal.

    I hope I’m wrong.

Grealish, McGinn and Kodjia all playing. Assume Abraham not registered in time to play as not in squad. Adomah not in squad but was said to have a back injury. 1-1

Well there you go typical Bruce lineup 6 defenders and 3/4 actual attack minded and we lose a goal after 6 mins and you have to think its probably game over..we will see..no Abraham on bench wasnt he signed in time to play today??..i think Bruce may get the boot following a defeat and away fan backlash..

You’ve got to except it Adam, Aston Villa is to big for a bloke like Bruce, the man has no idea of getting a team to play football, he’s been the man to defend but now hes trying to get goals attacking and we are open to every team available. I can not believe that Robby Savage and Sutton are defending him and saying he’s a good manager, they’re bonkers both of them,
