I am so confused with the names…there seems to be 3 oohah’s now lol…will the REAL one please stand up?
Whoever this person is i for one prefer them lol.
I will NEVER be negative again 🙂
Now i know it’s not ooha for sure.
What was it 23% possession and 3 shots and we come away with 3 points in the bag? Happy Days.
You have to give Lambert credit, he got the tactics spot on last night, great goals from Gabby and Deplh and we owed then one for last season.
This site is tremendous.
An away win at a previously unbeaten side and we moan about possession stats.
Brilliant !!!
Roll on Fulham and the home banker against Man U.
I thought I was actually praising Lambert???
Did his home work let Southampton play their pretty football in the middle of the park then hit them on the break, all good in my books.
Your head still a bit fuzzy from last nights celebrating?
Wasn’t knocking your post BWS, some of the earlier ones.
Head still has that dull thud lol ! Hopefully ready for Fulham, having a few scoops in that London the Saturday night.
Fair play to you mate.
You really are seeing the best of this side travelling to the away games should imagine it was amazing down there last night, bet Saints fans were wounded (shame).
My Saints mate described our performance as dogged.
I quite like what Lambert is doing but it will take time.
If we could get clean sheets and goals we’ll all be happy (well, most on this site lol !).
Who is moaning about possession stats…..certainly not me. The best stat of all is 3 shots on goal, 3 goals and 3 points……wonderful stats
And all the negative peeps on here saying we were lucky, so what?…..WTF is wrong with being lucky?…more luck please. And the Saints won with a penalty last year when one of their players clearly dived. Revenge is sweet, very, very sweet!
Langford nothing wrong with being lucky, I’m never lucky, never will be lucky, but and a big but, Villa was f,.’-ing lucky nothing wrong with that hey. 🙂
Where’s tel j mate?not that im missing him.
Fishing
I think you’ll find Langford their manager said the penalty against us at home last season was fair as his man only went down to avoid the incoming foul. A classic bending of the truth as far as it can possibly go! Before the West Brom match we had commentators banging on about previous results and how we balance each other out on results but do you remember two or three years ago they beat us at home after Herd was sent off at the start for being fouled in the box, the decision being completely wrong and them scoring from the resulting penalty? It would be interesting to see how many matches we’ve won and how many we’ve lost due to bad refereeing. Arsenal fans say we only beat them because of bad refereeing but what about the Chelsea match a few days later? There’s a difference between being unlucky hitting the woodwork or missing the goal (like Southampton yesterday) and having a referee who gets all his decisions wrong. Two things screwed us over last night, Vlaar going off injured and us constantly giving the ball away. If we hadn’t taken our chances and scored the goals and won, and had we lost 2-0, we’d be screaming blue murder. As it happens our defence did a very good job and we played a classic counter attack game. All three goals were absolute crackers.
Bring on fulham stick it up um.utv
Up em I say giddy..
We’re going to thump Fulham, can’t wait.
7-0 to the villans no probs.utv
Just to put you in the picture Giddy Terry TJ, is in Belgium fishing with the winter league none workers, he did say that he would now and again pop in, we told him to take his time not popping in and keep fishing. I do expect him to have his say in the near future. He’s only done that so not to send out Christmas cards.
This is the headline in the Metro
“Southampton defence must learn to deal with long-ball teams after criminal result against Villans”
What a load of old bollox and excuse me but wasn’t gabby’s goal from a ball played inside the fullback? Hardly from a long hit and hope punt upfield.
Kovak’s came from a cross from the right, again hardly Wimbledon and the pièces de ré·sis·tance Delph’s screamer from 25 yards, worthy of winning any game.
If that’d have been Man U – Arsenal – Chelsea it’d have bean a wonderful display of counter attacking football.
Its OK Bill, the editor is going to specsavers, Gabby came across from right to left past 3 players to score, kozac cross off the right wing, and as you said Delf picked the ball up from box to box and a 25 yard shot. Metro is never a news paper anyway, its a free rag.
wot a change a result does lmao am I on the rite site 🙂
I agree with most posts ~ lambert employed the rite tactics ~ when we got the ball it was deep in our half , so playing keep ball was no no. we went direct which again was spot on, long nope ~ rites balls yep 🙂
great delph goal was the icing on the cake. the plan nearly went pear shaped when vlaar went off ,hope its not bad injury
time 4 my moan I want lowton playing right back /wing back not bacuna he shown enough 2 warrant a midfield slot /wing role defending isn’t his game hes quick but always out of position, he seemed 2 get dragged narrow leaving loads of space which wasn’t exploited thank god
Any update on vlaars injury?as we know he’s not a quick healer.
nothing ive seen yet giddy, I was wondering the same myself. lowton was not great last night but to be fair to him he is no centre back.
it seems that last season vlarr was settling in with a new team and a group of inexperienced youngsters to manage because this year he has looked like a dutch international and has been worthy of his ‘concrete’ ron tag.
I suppose no news is good news unless he’s had a scan & there just waiting for the results.i hope he’s ok mate.
me too, vlarrs form and our defence improvements are no coincidence im sure and we need that older head amongst the youngsters especially at the back.
clark has been much improved too this season just keeping it simple and being solid.
Agreed NM.
fair play to lambert dropping benteke, it needed to be done and bringing kozac off at 2-1 suggests to me it’ll be more of the same Saturday.
also re the possession stats, I think it was well played by lambert on this one, pochetino knows im sure like everyone else that we are a counter attacking side but failed to anticipate or cope with that.
reckon Fulham will be up for the 3pts and come at us which may play right into our hands. but don’t expect a walk over against them, they looked much improved against spurs last night although weak at the back, good news for us 🙂
NM isn’t it abit risky playing this counter attacking millarky when it doesn’t actual work at home for some unknown reason mate just wondered.
I think that we do need to rethink our home strategy, hopefully this unbeaten run will give the side the confidence to go at teams from the off.
We seem to hold the ball well at home, we just can’t make anything happen with teams that sit deep and invite a steady build up.
We’ve shown away that we’re the best counter attacking side in the league.
iam a firm believer in 442 against most teams at home, bacuna and tonev and Albrighton these 3 fight 2 supply the front 2.
kovak showed given the rite service, he will thrive, benteke will regain his form if hes given more chances
playing at home we need 2 attack more as a team unit, getting the crowd behind us like palace. I av seen on tv their home games and regardless of score they stay with their team like our away fans ~ if palace survive it will be down 2 their vocal home support
Great result, we seem to get our best results when countering we also seem to be playing better without Benteke in the team which is a concern. I hope he is not another player who believes his own hype as you are only as good as your recent games and well they have not been great.
So glad to see Delph on the scoresheet our most improved player in a long time, i had written him off until the turn of last year, scoring is something he has lacked and hopefully this will give him the boost he needs to become what i believe is a great player.
Lets not forget last nights win was another result to paper over the cracks.
more like ur usual posts lol I was beginning 2 worry
Hi langford!
Come on Oohah, if you were a Gooner you’d still be chanting ‘Wenger out’.
Seriously, people really shouldnt comment about the game if they didnt see it!
We did not play better without Benteke. We couldnt hold the ball up at all. Kozak was about to be hauled off before he scored…as he had done nothing (bar nearly giving a goal away) in 70 mins. It was a great cross by El-Ahmadi (who was also having a mare) for the goal and Kozak took it well.
Benteke and Weimann both looked lively when they came on and it wouldnt surprise me if they start next game.
We cant play 5 at the back without Vlaar, Lowton got totally exposed playing there. Although, I wish we would go to 4 at the back with Lowton back at RB.
I really hope we put in a good performance against Fulham and build on this result, but we have to work on keeping possession of the ball. 23% is pitiful against any opposition.
I watched the game kozak and gabby were feeding on scraps hard 2 hold the ball up when they were 5 feet above there head, yes lambert was about 2 remove kozak but the one cross which gave him a chance he scored from
u can’t judge strikers on closing down and chancing lost causes, both of um gave 100% and both scored with very little services
Hi again langford.
Changing his icon now, sorry too obvious now, nobody can be like the real Oohah , let’s get back to football.
Bill he’d make a crap spy.
Nath, I agree that they were working on scraps, but no doubt about it, Benteke is much better at holding the ball up in those situations. People saying that we played better without him is nonsense.
Kozak took his goal well, but he didnt show anything that says he should start over Benteke.
Last season Benteke went for everything, this season he sits and waits, that is the difference and that is why i dont feel he should get in the team. Whilst he was injured or has been on the subs bench we have had better results. its an opinion if it varies from your it is not wrong
I think benteke is by far the better all round striker but I think lambert made a decision 2 drop him and start with kozak, to get a response from benteke , kozak will improve more he plays looks like if we can play 2 his strengths which is 2 get decent crosses in he gonna score loads,
At this moment in time I believe the teams works better without Benteke he just does not look as up for it as last season, the counter attack tactics worked. When i said we play better i did not mean technically, i meant when benteke is on the pitch we seem to give the ball away loads.
Bentek is a much better all around player but has he been found out, last season he looked really up for the ball this season not as much, whether that is attitude, tactics opposition counter tactics to manage him i dont know
As I always said benteke is the new Heskey lol
