Hutton was a symbol of the fans disenchantment with McLeish. I wonder whether Lambert was looking for praise/acceptance from the fans in his treatment of the player. Regardless of how the fans don’t like him, he has at least got on with it instead of moaning to the press, and has always been happy to go on loan rather than sit counting his money. If he gets a transfer it’s a thumbs up from me.

Maybe some of these unwanted players leaving will free up enough cash to sort the AM problem out

Felt for the the lad, as you say DS a symbol of the ‘M’ era and that being his only crime, I hope he gets his transfer and wish him all the best (as giddy says he’ll probably be used as bait for Hoolahan).

I read a book penned by an “insider” The Secret Footballer. In it he spoke of how most new managers asserted their authority by picking on one or more of the existing squad and ostracising them completely. Maybe that was the case here. A swap for Hoolahan would probably be good for both clubs if they can get over the Lambert/Norwich obstacle. I still hold on to the hope that something more ambitious might come about but I don’t really believe it. I think it’s more likely that nothing will happen rather than an exciting signing.

One thing about the Liverpool game was that it showed we could create chances due to the positive approach to the game and a few better placed passes. I hope there’s more of that to come.

Is it called -I Am The Secret Footballer: Lifting the Lid on the Beautiful Game?
          Is it a good read?

The Liverpool game, if Gabby hadn’t have got injured I think we’d have nicked it but happy with a point and hopefully a sign of things to come.

Funny thing about Hutton is he would fit into Lamberts wing back play, he failed in McLeish team because Hutton is an attacking defender and McCleish likes his defence to sit back.

For me the Hutton signing was a reflection on how clueless McCleish was as a manager not on how bad Hutton is as a player. Some of his challeneges were a bit naughty though lol

A Scottish mate (token) says he has played well for Scotland even though he has not had any game time for Villa. i wish him well

Yes I remember him in Rangers’ European matches bombing forward. His challenges could be x-rated like you say. It’s always good to see any footballer make the best of his career. Ireland pisses me off but he is so good you wish he would produce it consistently even if it’s for someone else. Well I do anyway.

Ireland looks like one of those players who will only do well for certain managers, when he was at City he was a very good player. if City did not have all that investment they would still have had a half decent team.

Hutton to West Ham is todays rumour

Something I haven’t thought about too much but well put. Imagine him as a wing back when Lambert plays 5 at the back, him bursting down the right. Reading some manager’s purposefully exiling players when they arrive to cement their authority is kind of sad to read. Especially one that would get you cheers because few Villa fans actually like Hutton. I do hope he gets a move though, I can understand him not wanting a permanent move to like the Championship, and do believe he can make it in the EPL at another club.

I think this is how a new manager operates in most business situations, its a way of stamping authority, and getting everyone thinking in sync with new ideas. Does not matter how much you are earning nobody likes being sidelined, I imagine its humiliating, Darren bent if the rumours are correct did not respond well to it

Kind of sad to be fair. But I agree, it shouldn’t matter how much he’s earning, shouldn’t be made an example of. It’s gotta be humiliating and the way Hutton’s reacted has been great, as I can see more would act like Bent, which is a reasonable reaction himself.

i don’t quite get the hysteria over the quenelle salute.. a comedian (anelkas buddy apparently) came up with it a decade ago. he used it and he denies being anti-semite but does use jews in his comedy material.

there have been numerous radical groups that have since kind or secconded it for their purposes either because they secretly knew the comedian was anti-semite or the simple resemblance to an inverted nazi salute .
the french government want to ban the comedians shows and i think anelka’s gesture was in support of him.

Which means that anelka is in support of a racist which makes it even worse. I’m sure he wouldn’t be happy if someone used the N word against him in support of slavery for example. Same thing.

Racist and religious crime – the legislation
Parliament has passed legislation aimed at outlawing crime where the offender is motivated by hostility or hatred towards the victim’s race or religious beliefs (actual or perceived).

The key word there is perceived.

In the tabloid rags there’s plenty of smoke without fire. There would be about 500 hundred thousand transfers every January if if there wasn’t. They’re just about selling papers and making money. Wouldn’t believe any of it.

Hundred’s of rumours are made up without any substance so of course there is. Re-hashing old rumours to get a set of fans, Spurs in this case, quite happy as they believe their club could be within a chance of signing an incredible striker, it’s not the case, but it gets a set of fans happy, which then also gets comments from Villa fans laughing at Spurs fans being overjoyed.

Giddy i understand your doubts about Lerner i do I i many questions i would like to ask him!.. but this idea or notion of him laughing all the way to the bank is still a myth .. i have yet to see an account that proves that.

80-90% of our turnover was going on wages.
not unheard of in football but still, this should tell you all you need to know about how much laughing Lerner has done one the way to the bank

at best .. the idea is that he will be makeing money of Villa in future based on some very rough projections about sky money based on current spending levels.

I am waiting till the latest accounts come out for last year

        Don’t spoil it Colonius.

Lerner is the evil Yankee owner who is robbing us blind.

Can’t you see how every other club is spending fortunes this window. Only Stoke have signed one more player and that was Ireland.

I’d like to see Bertrand made permanent if possible, and Holt will do a job.
