Newcastle V Villa; My optimism has gone again.

Newcastlevilla

Last week, I was fully confident that we had enough about us to beat a Stoke team that had been in poor form and had a decent amount of injuries.
While I never thought we were good enough to have deserved all three points, the game had “one each” written all over it, a point that would have at least been encouraging.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the game out and we all know what happened.
Heartbreaking stuff, it was too.

This week, however, I have absolutely no faith whatsoever that we’ll take anything from St James’ Park or whatever they call it these days.

Whichever way you look at our stats over recent months, they’re simply appalling;
We’re the only team in the top four divisions that hasn’t won in 2015.
We’ve gone 11 games without a win and in that time, we’ve scored 3 goals.
And while previous games don’t count for anything, we also have a poor record against Newcastle since we beat them 3-0 on their turf.

All in all, things just don’t bode well, in my opinion.

That said, that’s what we’ve brought Tim Sherwood in for; to try and revitalise us.

I still keep going back to the fact that we need six wins from our remaining games, even though we’ve only won five up to now, though.

On to squad news then and it’s not good.
Vlaar serves a ban, which might be just as well, as I suspect Sherwood might have dropped him anyway.
The bigger concerns are that Cissokho and Hutton are both doubtful.
I wonder if we might see Bacuna in at RB?
Kieran Richardson, who to be fair, has done reasonably well at LB, is out too and there’s talk that Lewis Kinsella might start.

Newcastle might have Jonas Gutierrez back, but Cheick Tiote and Jack Colback are both out.

For me, it’s all about who gets the first goal today and I just don’t see us scoring it.
Whatever, I think we’ll see what this Villa team is all about today, in whether we have the bottle to fight our way out of trouble, or not.
Let’s hope I have something decent to write about after the game, eh?

Newcastle 2-0 Villa.

lets not make excuses like former managers. we are bottom 3 material and its not like we deserve better or had hard luck story. we are were we are and deservedly.pains me to see us play like this. now we play 442 and whacking it upfront to a infective benteke.

burnely are everything villa’s not and for a much less wages. if they escape it won’t be a fluke they will deserve it. if some players at villa would be bothered, we wouldn’t be in the shit. hang your heads pathetic

magpies 4 villa 1 shot on target (deflection)

Does anybody else here. Feel the way I do classic floyd lol i believe we are doomed to the drop, looking at the remaining fixtures and how the squads played all season. excuses made by the club. theres no way this group could manage to secure enough points. i reckon 34 points thats being optimistic. but thats not enough most seasons.

hope iam wrong as usual. my mates do the coupons and all of um put newcastle to beat villa as their first selection embarrassing. i want us to fight, show pride in our colors. we could all forgive them for losing but trying to win. maybe its time to use reverse psychology. when teams admit to themselves they are down they play with more freedom

VILLA 2-1 today. Our fight for survival will begin today and Newcastles manager would have only put fire in the belly.

Waiting for the team news before I decide on a score. I’d be happier if TS drops half the team he picked for Stoke and gets someone in who will at least give it some welly.

Certainly don’t want to see Gabby, Zog, Vlaar named on any team sheet again this season. P45s all round for them.

Waiting for the sunshine. For that reason I am not optimistic today unless Newcastle develops its own microclimate. Lets hope Spring starts next weekend and Villa, the classic fair weather team, come out with the Daffs.

I like a little bet, and one of the rules of gambling is to not follow the crowd. The crowd seems to be piling into Newcastle this weekend, so I will do the opposite and have a little wager on Villa, a price of 7/2 looks tasty to me. I’m saying we defo won’t lose, I’ve still a little positivity left, remember, the darkest hour is just before the dawn. VTID.

Giddy – cavalry to the rescue. Sorry I’m late my optimistic friend but been repairing my roof! Villa to win; no problem and the rebirth of Benteke. Carver has disrespected us so we just have to stuff them 1-3 Villa. Off to get the wine bottles now!

I really think we’ve had it now tbh. We need a miracle. Need to keep it at 1.0 as long as possible bring Gil on after 60 mins and go for it. Benteke offside again time to drop him he’s just not scoring play him of bench.

If we go down it will be really hard to get back up could take 10 years and I’m not exaggerating. Yes lerner will lose out but so will we. Sounds like we’ve played ok tbf if we could nick a point that wouldn’t be too bad.
