Mat Kendrick; An apology

Many of you will know that I’ve often slated Mat Kendrick as having been a gutless Evening Mail reporter for never having really reported things as he genuinely believed.
His reasoning was pretty obvious, in that he probably didn’t want to face the wrath of the club, which probably would have resulted in his being barred from press conferences and the players being ordered not to talk to him.
A club that doesn’t believe in any criticism from reporters or even the fans. A gestapo type attitude, in my opinion.

My gripe with Mat was that as a proper Villa fan, even though he hinted at things, he should have been a lot more forthright in his real views, given that he had the biggest mouthpiece of any Villa fan.

Anyway, it seems he’s now corrected things somewhat and made his views quite plain, in a very good piece saying that Paul Lambert should be sacked;

The Mail have been quite canny in their efforts to not upset the gestapo, because they simultaneously released an article by Gregg Evans stating why Lambert should stay, just to balance things in the name of fair reporting;

We all know that it’s a minority who want Lambert to stay, but fair play to the Mail anyway in the way they’ve played this. After all, you can’t ban someone for presenting a balanced view, can you?

The only disappointment with Mat’s article is that he should have written it when he was the lead reporter. I’d imagine that if he had got banned for telling the truth, it would have made for a fair old story for the sports press in general and demonstrated the sort of thing that many Villa fans feel is generally wrong with the club under the current regime.

Whatever, fair play Mat for finally telling it how it is.
And I apologise for slating you.

  1. Just proves my point fans out in full force and had no effect what so ever so even if we protest it again has no effect on players told it wouldn’t so all this get behind crap doesn’t work lambert got to go were be in bottom 3 now

    1. Was there a protest in the end or was it all bollox as per normal. Bet there are no lamberk out shouts either

      1. Yeah it did happen but it was a blink and your miss it if we don’t hear one lambert out chant today then I assume the fans want championship football so they can be no moaning were playing crap as pure usual

        1. Agree it’s disgusting how fans have not turned on him. We deserve to go down and hope we do iv had enough it’s dire shite

          1. randy lerner has shown he does not care over the last few years and the fans today let villa down by not sending him a message . we will go down this year . gutless players , gutless fans and an owner that does not care equals relegation . i’m really at the point of giving up on villa once and for all . fuck the yank and his yes man lambert. FUCK THEM

  2. I realize people hate Cleverley… But what the hell is a CM supposed to do playing on the right? He’s played out of position just about every single game as Lambert for some reason thinks he’s a wide-midfielder.

    1. Being said that protest was 200 fans if you blinked you’d have missed it, as for our effort dismal, and Liverpool had a goal disallowed. I was always told Villa fans don’t stand for shite , how times have changed.

      1. Its very disappointing, for once we get the national media onside talking about how bad we are and what happens? Nothing!
More rendictions of “Villa” from aload of kids.
Its pathetic, the club, players, manager and fans are a complete joke.

  3. During that Cleverley chance, did anyone else notice on of our players being held round the waist?

      1. I’m talking about that specific incident and nothing else.
I’m sure there was blatant grabbing around the waist and it should have been spotted, is all I’m saying.

        1. Too be fair that’s largely been what Liverpool does quite often. They like Arsenal get away with a lot of hands on grabbing.

    1. mark clattenburg is a wanker

villa didn’t do too bad, they have quickened the tempo alittle at times. also went direct at times (mixed it up ) well. if they can tighten up at the back. we can get back in this

        1. yes he is ohahahaha,

iam clutching nothing hes as biased as they come, watch full time when he swaps shirts, with his linegimps hes got a scouser pool shirt on

          1. You need to start looking at the bigger picture.
When you go down the “blaming referees” road you know your in trouble.
“We lost 4-0 today but wasn’t the ref awful”.
            Pathetic.

          2. So claiming the ref’s been awful when he’s been awful is pathetic? That is a new one. I don’t think anyone’s claiming the ref is why we’re losing. Just that he’s an awful ref.

          3. wind ur fooking necks in

if i wanna moan about ref i hated for years i fooking will pricks. i am not suggesting we lossed cos of him. its like ohahaha said hes a biased to the bigger teams.

  4. Delph stays on? He’s been awful… As per usual though.

Westwood and Cleverley off, Gil and Weimann on. At least it’s a positive change.

  5. If we don’t score today that will equal the record in 1992 of not scoring in 5 consecutive league games.Chelsea next so yet another broken record Lambert has achieved.what a fucking winner.

    1. Thought it was arsenal away next? Fuckin fa cup next week hate that competition

    1. Finally a player that moves, wants the ball and has the willingness to take on a player.

  6. Benteke before his two injuries would’ve put both his chances away. Lambert needs to get his mindset off his injuries and on the game.

    1. And yet we still can’t score and losing 2.0 to a slightly above average liverpool team. Same old bollocks

  7. We deserve this. Hard to believe these are the same players. This lad can cross as well and Benteke has woken up because of that

  8. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result” – sound familiar?

    1. I thought we were excellent, I thought we were excellent, I thought we were excellent!!

  9. I don’t understand why Lambert didn’t play Gil from the beginning?! We know we’ve got a problem creating chances, we buy a creative player, then we put him on the bench!!! WTF?!

  10. Lambert a legend in his own life time ……………….. If he had any self respect he would fall on his sword. Oh he tried it and missed!

    1. For Entertinment I thi/nk Dr Who? did have a better record, didn’t he sign that pantomime clown Savo Milosovic? Not to mention Ivo Stas, the only player to have signed for Villa, scored for Villa, but never played for Villa.

  11. well signs are better than last few games.we created a few more chances had some pressure, the new amigo showed some nice touches and showed he’s got the skill to find the forwards, yeah the ppl that love to moan what ever will continue to moan. but i saw more effort and more cutting edge. i feel goals will come if they continue to apply the same effort and skill.

    1. But bottom line is we still didn’t score and we lost. So your comment is pointless tbf

      1. hows my comments pointless the teams pointless. ur comments pointless. if you wanna cry go ahead cry. last weeks the team was deserving of ur bitching. today they played miles better, still wasn’t enough. but if you can’t see the effort the team put in. then i hope they put in the efforts of the last few defeats, were they looked every bit a relegation team without hope

  12. well happy clappers all happy we give it a go and we ll give it a go next week etc
if he keeps playing numptys like cleverly westwood wiemen gabby zog what does anyone expect sure we had a bit pressure for 15/20 mins but pool still could scored 4/5

  13. No end product when we put them under pressure. when are the goals going to come, might be to late when they do come. Gil I was really impressed with him when he came on.

    1. you see jvillan dave67 see a positive, the new guy came on and showed some nice passes showed he hes got the invention to find forwards in dangerous positions. villa are in a rut and its gonna get worse maybe, but there were better signs today

i am off our for a binge let you all beat up your teddies

  14. Good for Nath. I saw the same game as you. Gotta feel better than the last few weeks, On a lighter note (we are allowed one) it was mad to hear Charlie Nicholas explaining Lamberts situation. I didn’t understand a single word.

  15. Taxi for Mr Lambert, Plane for Mr Lerner. I am not surprised the 8 minute protest failed, its plain daft, but I will be at VP on Sunday to add my voice to the Lambert out chorus.

        1. That’s a daft comment. We want someone better not just change for changes sake . Someone like Tim Sherwood would be no better than Lambert.

          1. Don’t get why Sherwood would be popular tbh. I want a foreign manager like a koeman etc

      1. Some foreigner nobody has really heard of – just like Pochettino when he arrived at Saints. Ambitious just to get the chance of managing in the Prem.

The one Championship manager you would want will be there next week, but he won’t leave his current job while it is going well.

It is a good opportunity because with the current squad it would be impossible to get less of a performance out of them than Lambert – and the crowd’s expectations are rock bottom. So the new guy is only expected to play more adventurous football and keep them up.

        1. Ponchettino was known for his time in Spain. One of the biggest leagues in the world. We should be scouting there anyways. Definitely a goldmine for managers.
