There hasn’t been enough interest to buy Aston Villa over the past few weeks and it’s reported by the Mirror and the Birmingham Mail that Randy Lerner has slashed his asking price by £50 million. That means that Lerner is now looking to sell the club at roughly £150 million. Lerner has also decided to widen the scope of his sale and it’s believed he will also be looking at interest from the Middle East.
The reduction of price may appeal to many potential owners, especially in the Middle East. Paul Lambert will unlikely be given any money to spend in the summer by Lerner. It’s in the clubs best interest to sell the club as soon as possible.
The price reduction means that Aston Villa can be sold for £150 million. That’s cheap, especially for a sports team. Recently a NBA team was sold for roughly $2 billion. While a Formula 1 is believed to be on sale for roughly $350 million. Aston Villa have a good fan base, and are located in the second biggest city in England. I’m a little surprised and upset that there hasn’t been much interest in the club. If the club doesn’t get sold during the summer, Lambert may have to work with the squad he currently has.
What happened to it already being well on the way to being sold? Looks like all the itk really were bullshitters after all. Who would of guessed that.

He may not be anyone’s first choice [not that we’d ever get agreement on who would fit that bill], but he’s a player who’s likely to play in the World Cup for Switzerland – and they’re not the worst team in Europe either – so why should Villa fans automatically say he’s not good enough for us?
It’s a bit like Ron Vlaar: some Villa fans keep knocking him, but he’s in the Dutch squad going to Brazil as well, which is rather more than most of the current squad could ever hope to do.
In fact the two of them might be quite a decent combination in central defence next season.

The Villa as we knew it is dead, I can’t think of a single reason to watch that shite next year, the same crap players, worst manager in our history still in charge, with the added bonus of more crap like Senderos. Rather we’d have gone down tbh as it’s going to be an even bigger humiliation next season now the flukey results have dried up.
We’re not being sold this year! If keane comes in and we sign senderos then we can take it as fact because plain common sense tells u lerner would not be bringing in these people if a deal was close or even 6 weeks away!
Im not upset by senderos comin though, it tells me Lambert is gonna still be here next year but Lambert knows vlar is gonna be injured for at least 2-3 months this season so that’s when i expect senderos to step in as i believe 1st choice will be vlar and okore so at least we will have some experience when vlar is out, not to mention senderos isn’t that bad a defender, he was in the arsenal defence that did very well and even broke a record in champ league too i tink so we could do worse with no money and massive uncertainty.
Agree Kerry no way will we start the season with a new owner or manager we are stuck with what wev got unfortunately. I’m beginning to wonder if we really are for sale or a publicity stunt to appease fans and give Lerner and lambert another year if breathing space.

Bill, I can’t see what the attraction would be of an assistant managers job at VP for Keane, especially as he’d apparently turned down the chance of being Celtic’s main-man [& with Rangers out of the picture for at least another year, there’d have been little risk of failure there for him in the short run].
Still if he does somehow end up at VP, perhaps we’ll see the team finally grow a pair of ‘cojones’ – been a soft touch for far too long!
Keane will be our manager he is a cheap option for Lerner if lambert gets sacked early on which is likely. I’m not defeatist just realistic given the current situation. Beggars can’t be choosers and due to the mismanagement of our club the past three years we are definitely beggars. What would really worry me is that if the team had a real purple patch start of the season and all seemed rosie down villa park would Lerner have second thoughts about selling like what Ashley done at Newcastle. In saying that I do believe we will be sold but not before summer. If I was to buy villa from Lerner I would wait till transfer window was closed. It would then buy a few months to settle in new regime before evaluating squad and management.
I think we can safely rule out any purple patches with this manager and squad. It’ll be the same old 1 flukey win every 2 months surrounded by weeks of utter shit and we go again comments.I’ll be giving it a miss from day one
