Lambert limited to £10 mill spend, including wages!

So, it would appear that what many of us thought is indeed true.
We haven’t got a pot to do the proverbial in and Randy Lerner has well and truly pulled the plug, according to the Sunday People/Mirror.

The article shows a shocking state of affairs, where Lerner has stripped his house near Bodymoor Heath and has apparently cut Paul Lambert’s request for £20 million in half and only given him £10 million including wages.
The article puts paid to a couple of points for me.
The first being that it pretty much proves Lerner’s wanting out of Aston Villa isn’t a pretend thing. Not that I ever thought it was.

And secondly, the article goes on to mention that the average wage in the Premier league is £64,000 a week or £3.2 million a year. So much for the massively over-paid players we had on the books that many kept complaining about (yes, ok some weren’t being used enough, but this is an average figure. Are all other club’s players fully utilised?).
Anyway, even if you want to debate that, against this average £64k a week, we have to be content in offering £20k.
Good grief, there are championship players getting a fair bit more than that!
And that for me, sums everything up.

My god Randy, I hope you know what you’re doing, as if you don’t make a sale and soon, we’re going to be in very serious trouble, with every likelyhood that we’re going down this time.
Even the Albion are totally embarassing us, in that they offered more money to Joleon Lescott.

You have to wonder why Lambert is swallowing this, as he’d have been very reasonable in walking away with at least some of his reputation intact, but my guess would be that he’s been offered a nice little bonus to stick with it.

What a shame it’s come to this. Randy Lerner was a man I quite admired when he first came, with all his talk about wanting to do the best for the club etc.
If this story is true, it seems to me he practically views us with contempt.

And that view is now reciprocal. The sooner he’s gone, the better, is how I now feel.
And that makes me feel sorry.

10 million is more than enough. We’ll be fine. Lambert will sign 8-9 players from the lower leagues and it’ll be happy days. Can’t wait for the season to start.

I think your assessment of Lamberk staying is spot on. He’s on a decent wage in a situation that is no lose for him – praised by the media if he keeps the team in the PL and if he gets relegated the lack of funding has been made public. No doubt we’re bang in trouble but who amongst us didn’t know that anyway? I can only think that adding two maybe three players and the returning bomb squad may make Lamberk think that he’s got a fighting chance? It’s a truly sad state of affairs but not surprising in an way, shape or form given the previous 4 seasons. August’s games are very winnable so we’ll know by the end of the first month what sort of struggle we’ll have.

I have to agree with SEB Lambert will have to scrape the barrel for players freebies mainly unwanted by clubs.I even think the figure of 10mil is a bit optimistic imo,LERNER wants out possibly the VILLA is becoming a hinderence to him now. Yes I think the club will be in the shit next season, this is one unhappy villan. 🙁

Just been on the Paddy Power website and there are around 14 teams who are single figures to be relegated. This shows what a load of old tripe makes up the Prem now in that 6 teams will battle it out for the honours and the rest will scrap out for a top half finish. We must pick up points from the first three games or we could be in the bottom three by the time the clocks go back. How the bomb squad react to their recall from two years of being in the wilderness could be crucial.

Whilst I am sure there is at least some truth in this story the numbers are bollocks. Prem squad is about 23/24 players isn’t it? At average £3.2M per player that means £73-76M players wages for first team squad alone. That is way beyond many in the Premiership, though granted a fraction of what Man City or Chelsea might be paying. And that’s not even counting the additional NI the club would pay on top.

It is just more proof that we are in deep trouble, and all the ITK rubbish about takeovers done and dusted was a million miles wide of the mark. I hope there is some movement but I am fearful we are stuck in this situation for some time to come.

what i find hard to grasp is hull tigers ~ promoted other year, its reported they are offering 60k wages they are, without being disrespectful tiny compared to us mighty villa, why is it were offering 20k and struggling with higher pay packages.

i get lerners made a whole lot of amateur financial decisions, but thats hardly the clubs fault. hes turned a great club with pristine history. in his regime hes managed 2turned us in2 a sunday league club, a laughing stock. iam getting rather mad, slander grrrrr fooook offf u leach

if i had a money pit of a club, i cut my losses and get the fook out. hes definitely asset stripping us. we had league 1 wage budgets. no transfer budgets, no ambition no fooking chance foook offff wanker.

excuses what happened in the last 4 seasons, where he demanded lambert sell all players earning a premier wages. now releasing the statement iam selling gives him a excuse to completely turn off the money tap

hes got screwed by his misses and managers now hes screwing us, i ain’t bending over for him or anybody. if your selling ur house and its not drumming up interests u either take it off the market, or look at reasons ie clutter, toning down the decoy sometimes you need 2 spend some 2 drum up interests, nobody is gonna buy a run down football league club stripped of all assets and no tv money. compared 2 one like the club HE bought ~ may not av been winning leagues but the ship was running smoothly

whats this news on darren bent being offered a chance in turkey. any truth in this one. probably lerners best buys ~ 20 odd million and 65k wages for striker, then sell the wingers made more sense. than buying a football club and having no idea wot football actually was. before he got his greasy hands on the finances of this great club. its was all in order a chimp could av run us better, no major work needed, sit back and tweak alittle maybe hire somebody with football knowledge to advise

the fooker is bleeding us dry without a care, the 20mill and 20k wages hes been allowing for the past 4 seasons is taking the piss when u consider the money generated, 4seasons of cost cutting and now hes offering 10mill with wages included.this is proof the dirty wanker is doing one with the tv money. which again has increased

i would plead with all fans 2 revolt now thats the final straw. he doesn’t mind a slow sale hes taking the money generated with giving absolutely nothing back parasite

If we have to start the new season with no new owner , lambert still in charge & the current piss poor bag of wank squad then what hope have we got , the only positive at VP is that we have somehow managed to stay in the prem & sooner or later that will change .
So with a pathetic budget for next season that means all we can expect is more 32+ over the hill has beens that nobody else wants, so in all fairness who can blame anybody that decides not to renew , I say fair play to them , the football is shit and so are most of the players .

I’m amazed why everyone’s so surprised pretty obvious been saying it for ages. It will be exactly the same as last season Lerner will not sell before new season. The current regime is here for at least another year get used to it. If anyone wants to spend their money watching this shit then fair enough. But for every pound that’s spend it basically says to Lerner we are supporting you no matter what. I for one won’t spend another penny at VP this year in fact if I was given a free season ticket I still wouldn’t bother which says it all.

He said he was doing that at Leicester and clough did it at forest. Hate MON but great that he put the obsequious utd arse kickers in their place

Awful? He’s playing against world class footballers, who at times got the better of him, other times he stood firm and made the important tackles. He also organises the other two in the centre with him pretty well.
Not sure if you understood LVG tactics but for me, to have XI men behind the ball for 60 mins then go for it last 30 mins, due to the extreme heat and humidity, was well played and worked a treat!!
You really do only see the negatives in absolutely everything. Do us a favour and go support Man City

That wasn’t his tactics actually he had to go fit it because they were one nil down so no choice. Btw what do u think of this drink break bollox absolute joke IMO these are supposed to be super fit athletes Ffs. The England players of old never had this bollox. Also gives teams a tactical advantage on occasions and breaks up rhythm. LVG admitted it gave him a chance to make tactical changes

Would relegation be such a bad thing? We have some decent championship standard players, a championship manager and no money. Go down and we might even compete, have a few decent games, some good away days, maybe challenge for the play offs and do a bit of giant killing in the cup.
Stay up and unless we get a mega bucks sheikh, a new team and a new manager and coaching staff we will at very best survive lower mid table or go down with yet another season of anxiety, rubbish football, big beatings and unbearable tension.
    What’s the point in that?

A thought crossed my mind watching them Oohah, Mon, did he understand at the time he walked, he was at a loss with what Lerner was saying and doing to the club. We all jumped at what he did to us Villa Fans, but I was wondering did he know after being told to sell players sitting on their arse that the end would be what we have now. I hope when the club does get sold he will open his mouth to us and revealed all. Just a thought I might add.

Mon knew what was coming and totally bottled it imo. He left a few days before season started for maximum impact. He is a media darling for some strange reason as he’s won virtually fuck all so is beyond reproach. He failed miserably with us despite having the most money ever in our history. Spurs and city were nowhere near what they are now yet he totally bottled it when we were 9 points clear of arsenal. He coukd never win a game in March Ffs what’s that all about. Took over from Bruce at Sunderland and did a worse job. The guy is an overrated myth IMO

i am sat here tonight reading all these comments and feeling really sad that something i have loved nearly sixty years is going through so much turmoil, pain and humiliation,i am not sat waiting for some spoiled septic to be benevolent and put his hand in his pocket to give us some loose change so we could probably buy Heskey back or similar,i will do whatever i can to help and support my team i hear “don’t renew season tickets”, “don’t buy merchandise”. and “Ive been a supporter since the third division” well if you ask people that were there before then and have seen what a shambles we were then with supporters having a whip round to buy paint to spruce up villa park. on an aside , i have life changing surgery this week after being off work for three years and will require 4-6 weeks rehab and after that time i will be in the park during games just to savor the atmosphere and i know my club will know who i support and when i get back to work i will buy a season ticket , and a new top because good or bad its ASTON VILLA and all the joy they have given me in sixty years will be re-paid with something called loyalty
