Aston Villa forward Libor Kozak has rejected the chance to move to Scotland and join up with Celtic. It’s been clear that Kozak is not rated by Sherwood and Sherwood is looking to sell or loan Kozak. It’s not clear whether or not the move to Celtic was for a permanent transfer or for a loan deal. But I strongly believe that it was a loan deal because there has been no news regarding an official bid. Apparently Kozak does not want to leave for Scotland and if forced to leave he’d prefer to move to another Premier League club or elsewhere in Europe. Ideally, Kozak wants to stay at Aston Villa and play for the club, especially after missing the entire 2014/15 season with a broken leg. Apparently Sherwood is not happy with Kozak’s fitness which is why he has been limited to a substitute appearance in the League Cup.
What I don’t understand is why Sherwood will not give Kozak a chance. Kozak, arguebaly has more experience than any of our forwards, he was top scorer of Europa League in 2012/13 season. Kozak had a fantastic pre-season and can probably hold the ball better than Gestede and Agbonlahor. The fans who watched the League cup game at the stadium did say that Kozak was significantly better than Jordan Ayew. With the current Villa side boasting more midfield goal scorers than forwards, it’s time to give Kozak a chance.
Put it this way Adam ,even with a broken leg he’d be more use than Abonglahor, shame really not been given a chance to prove his abilities, things like that turn the fan wondering if Sherwood got disliked at Tottenham for that very same reason. What we don’t want is discontentment in our camp.
Under Paul Lambert player favouritism was bad, and I thought that the club did look past it but it seems to be back under Sherwood. I can’t really recall a single Villa manager that was quite fair. I think that McLeish was (overall) quite fair and gave players a chance
I think this is common almost clubs tbh every manager has their blue eyed boy do too speak. Even when I played as an amateur didn’t matter what club I was at it was exactly the same there was always players that were picked no matter how bad they were.
But to be fair to TS he seems to be open minded and responds positively to players with a can do attitude – Gil is a player who originally TS didn’t ‘like’ because if fitness issues but has been won over (even though he implied he’s still not fit enough after Tuesday’s game)
Kozak needs prem game time now to prove himself, which I personally believe he would do. I can see him getting a lot of goals with grealish and Adama getting down the flanks. If you cant score with those two supplying you got no chance! (Errrm Gabby!!)
Precisely Adam ,give him a chance, you cannot destroy a players career after a injury like he had, how do we know ? Ok hes the manager does things like do as I say, but we will never know will we. Yet sticks with a none worker.
Kozak deserves a chance, he was decent in pre-season and could do a job for us.
On another note Kevin Nolan has left West Ham. Would be, imo, the “proven attacking midfielder” we apparently crave. Actually think he would be a decent signing and could do a job for us for the next 2 years or so in the Prem.
Is that bit about Nolan a joke mate? The only thing he’s proven is that he can’t run any more.
Agree on Kozak though.
“Nolan can’t run”. Gabby can’t score, Guzan can’t kick, Westwood can’t take accurate set pieces, Gardner can’t keep himself fit. What’s the problem with us signing Nolan? He’d fit right in. 🙂
So not all bad then!!
10 years too late for Nolan
kozak has shown he can be effective . not a pretty player more like a battering ram. sometimes that is what is needed . unless we are bringing in another powerful striker i thinks its crazy him being drummed out..
so im guessing we must be in for another striker if kozak goes.
tonev is gone now according to the birmingham mail.
Official: Tonev joins Frosinone .
now get rid of charles n’zogbia please tim 🙂
There’s a story out there today linking N’Zog with a move to some retirement-club in the UEA…
I would like to see another CF and CB coning in before the deadline. Kozak is obviously not in Sherwoods plans so we need to trust him on his team selection.
The post points out that Kozak is not up to the fitness level needed, then in the next sentence you ask why Tim won’t give him a chance. With so many attacking players who are either not match fit or have no PL experience Tim is having to juggle his resources and nurse players in to form and fitness. Hence why he can’t yet start the team we all want to see.
Do we know he doesn’t fancy Kozak , because he has given him game time in pre season , 2 full games and 3 half matches out of 6. Tim is probably prepared to loan him to boost fitness, and Kozak needs to play to get in to the euros.
i hope he stays and fans remember what the coaching staff can see in training every day – he hasn’t played for 18 months so will need time.
Nolan – lol!
Kozak – yes! Much better target man and better finisher than Gestede!
Could do with him at Celtic, we need a decent attacker to help Griffiths
