For once, I actually called something correctly and Tim Sherwood has been confirmed as our next manager.
I gave my reasons as to why I thought he might be the choice in the previous post, so I won’t go over that again.
What’s surprised me though, is how fast the deal has been done and I’m actually quite impressed.
There are two options as to how we’ve gone about things, in my opinion.
We’ve either panicked and done it all in what? two days?
Or this has been planned for a while and Fox has been negotiating with Sherwood quietly behind the scenes.
I suspect and hope it was probably the latter, although I can’t say I’d be pleased if that’s the way we go about business, ie doing a deal behind Lambert’s back. But this is Football and the whole game seems to have a different set of rules, doesn’t it?
So there we go, Sherwood it is then.
It’s good that we’ve appointed him before tomorrow’s game against Leicester, as I was quite prepared for us to lose, so we could concentrate all our energy on the league. Now that we have a manager though, my attitude has changed and I want us to go all out to win the game.
I won’t say it’s a stunning appointment, but I do think it’s a decent one, given our current requirements. Let’s hope Sherwood can hit the ground running eh?
I think we can expect some fireworks in the next few weeks, as it would seem he doesn’t mince his words, which is probably why some people dislike him with a passion.
Personally, I think this is exactly what’s needed, as many fans, even neutral ones, think that our team ought to be performing better than it is in reality.
Which to me says that certain players are far too comfortable.
I really don’t care who he falls out with, as long as he keeps us up.
Survival this season is all that counts for me and if he proves overly troublesome, we can sack him at the end of the season, even if it costs us three and a half year’s wages.
It’ll be pennies in the scheme of things. As long as we survive relegation.
Welcome aboard Tim and good luck.
I suspect you’ll need it.

A lot of talk saying Sherwood isn’t the right man.Whether he proves to be or doesn’t we have to give him the same chance to succeed as we did with Lambert.Like it or not Sherwood is our manager now so we have to get behind him.Sherwoods Soldiers….utv
I hope he puts at least a pennies worth into the team today because I feel this Marshall is from the same cloth as I refuse to mention his name again.
Ps I would of thought the players will be upping their game to impress today, wouldn’t you???
Morning all, think somebody’s throwing dummies out of prams again, when we post comments it says RIGHT OR WRONG WHAT DO YOU THINK . I say what we’ve been through the need was to get rid of the problems, now rightly or wrongly we have a new manager, we have to get behind the man to support our team, its the right thing to do, only time will tell if its the wrong thing to do, at least we got rid of one problem. Today’s game I’m saying 3-2 Villa, so come on, am I right.
3.0 to villa will be easy. We even beat them with lamberk in charge so should be a formality. Shane utd and liverpool still in it no chance against those 2 I’m afraid
Not so sure Oohah, you and I will know more in 6 games if Sherwood can make the mark, 3-0 I not that convinced.
2-0 VILLA.UTV
I think Sherwood would have a few words with the team this morning, we will know by the way they play. Going for Villa win 2 – 0.
4-1 Villa. Looking forward to seeing the team line up. I wonder if there will be any immediate significant changes??? 1 and a half hours until BBC coverage starts! 🙂
VILLA: Given, Hutton, Cissokho, Clark, Vlaar ©, Bacuna, Cleverley, Westwood, Delph, Weimann, Benteke. Subs: Guzan, Okore, Sinclair, Cole, Sanchez, Lowton, Grealish.
LEICESTER: Schwarzer, Simpson, Wasilewski, Morgan, Upson, Konchesky, Mahrez, Cambiasso, James, Schlupp, Kramarić. Subs: Hamer, Hammond, Vardy, King, Albrighton, Moore, Ulloa.
No Gabby? He injured or something?
a few surprises i thought okore was better than clark also i think given may be the number 1 under sherwood
Where’s Gil????
Not seen that he’s injured? Rested for the EPL perhaps.
gabbys chasing lambert up the m6 begging to take him with him
LOL but he never got past the first rest stop – lost interest at that point!
Maybe Sherwoods seen the same as houllier too overrated.
route one football methinks?
so long as winegum stays close to benteke we could do well non of this fifty foot away malarky touch ons become hollywood balls
Watch Benteke magically find the net a couple of times today. Only plays when it suits him
Just seen on the BBC Sports Live vote that 60% thought that Tim Sherwood would keep the Villa up.
Hope to God they’re right.
Leicester is in for a tonking today 🙂
I believe Gil is injured for tonight’s clash. Good to see Bacuna starting in which looks like maybe his correct position. Sinclair deserves the bench as does Gaby. Not a bad lineup and id expect Gil to be back in for Cleverly when back. Finally Weimann and Benteke together up front
Why has vlaar come in for okore?
Good game to get some match fitness in our captain? Expect he will be subbed later in the game.
i am behind sherwood and hope he keeps us up. also it freshens this squad up for the likes of given bacuna grealish this game against leicester could be so important also a dangling carrot wembley is 2 games away. i think leicester will beat us today, they need this as much as us, they aren’t a bad side struggle for goals
Just heard Gil injured
Started better. Not playing so deep or with terror on the players faces.
VP empty. Anyone know the attendance?
The same players who obviously have not realised that Lambert has gone. This is where Sherwood comes down from the stand into the changing room and asks “who wants to play for ASTON VILLA”
I hope Sherwood has a half time pep talk FFS
If the chuckle brothers selected the team with tips from Lambert, what do you expect?
The entire back room team needs changing.

this is worth signing…
I’m well unimpressed by VILLA
It’s gone flat again. Same old same old I’m afraid. I bet the players are looking forward to Monday morning…Needs a big shake up.
Benteke got no chance marked by 2 men, shame we aren’t clever or good enough to get around that.
Scott Marshall is our current boss for the game… He is following Lambert’s orders. Lambert never realized how to change it so how is Marshall supposed too?
Leicester are better organised.
Nigel Pearson is a better manager than Marshall/Lambert is. Sherwood definitely needs to make an appearance in the 2nd half.
As a playmaker????? As I said, he needs a backroom team asap…
Haha, Playmaker, winger, doesn’t matter really?
He definitely needs a backroom team quite soon. Hopefully he’ll have one before next weekend.
Benteke offside? I’M SHOCKED.
Always offside first thing Sherwood needs to work on with him
Now did Sherwood go to the changing room or has he gone home for his dinner
Probably gone to top himself on thia showing!!!
Tim Sherwood leaving a couple of minutes before the end of the half. Hopefully to the dressing room! We’re dire to watch
Just awful never knew we were this bad
haven’t you watched any games this year then
Just confirmed he is in the dressing room. We’ll be good to see if there any diffrence 2nd half
will be*
We can’t pass hit a long ball as for this keeping possession forget it,we’re a team lacking any confidence.just heard Sherwoods in the dressing room thank FUCK.
