I must admit I did wonder what that Texas tour thing was about.
Texas isn’t really a hotbed for footy as far as I know, is it?

If it’s going to be more American owners, these would be the sort I’d actually quite like.

Probably breadheads, yes, but at least they do seem to genuinely love sport.

I’m cynical, to say the least.
Aston Villa and owners with a total wealth of $14 billion?

    Nah, we’re not that lucky.

The interview with Doug Ellis on R5L tonight was clear enough, Doug isn’t the sharpest tool in the box nowadays (good for 90 though) but he did say he had been told it is a done deal in the sense that one specific American has made an offer which Lerner is likely to accept subject to the fine print, but Doug does not know who that is. Yes he referred to Lambert in the past tense.

The one good thing about this year is that it is a World Cup year. If you think back to the last World Cup there was a hiatus in the transfer merry go round until after it ended. And of course the World Cup itself threw up some new hot properties, who would displace existing big names. So the new owner and hopefully new manager will not be missing the boat in the same way they would in 2013 or 2015.

Knowing our luck takeover will happen just after window so they have a good excuse for not spending. Not much happens transfer wise till after World Cup so all rumours re players until then are total bollox. Hope we don’t sign anyone in World Cup these new names are usually crap and just play themselves into tge window for a couple of weeks.

I think the deal could go through relatively quickly (end of June).
If it drags on into the new season with no investment the team have a more than real possibility of being relegated next year. This would be a disaster for Lerner or any new owners.
With all the cut backs over the last 2 years and Lerners perceived lack of interest it is obvious he has been gearing up to sell. If a buyer isn’t lined up already i would be amazed.
