Hunt and Anschutz the new owners of AVFC ?

A few weeks ago when Larry Ellison was being talked off I explored some links between him and Lerner. This was in the belief that Randy is going to sell us to some he knows.

Well following on from today’s announcement I have looked at any links to Philip Anschutz and then came across something.

You will know that we are going on tour to Texas in the Summer, I always held off from saying this was to new owners. Of course Anschutz owns one of the teams Houston Dynamo’s that we are playing. Well the other team is FC Dallas ….

The owner there is Clark Hunt.

Hunt also owns the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team so there is no doubt he and Randy in owners meetings have met many times. He has also owned previously the Columbus Crew and who did we play in Lerner’s home state of Ohio a few years ago ?

If you google Clark Hunt you will see his name linked with takeovers at Palace, Newcastle and West Ham, so he has had interest in English football.

Could it be we see a joint ownership between the two and do they know each other ?

The answer is a clear yes as THIS LINK shows and let me quote

The joint project is the result of a unique partnership between Hunt Midwest, a full-service real estate development company owned by the Lamar Hunt family, and LightEdge Solutions, which is owned by Qwest founder Phil Anschutz. The long relationship between the Hunt and Anschutz families helped foster the partnership.

Lamar Hunt (deceased) was Clark Hunt’s dad … the two are obviously very close, a joint bid from them is now by favourite.

that is the difference both are successful and Clark Hunt turned a massively losing NFL side around

      2. Andrew avatar

Clark Hunt’s reportedly worth 2 billion and Anschutz reported at 10 billion. So yeah, yeah they do.

  2. Funny you saying that bum bum JD’S another world web surfer, wheres he??????

why can’t we just have a rich middle eastern sheikh oil baron from some wealthy royal background. Americans are hard work and they care too much about their money

So true they are pain in the backside. Would love a shiek or oligarch. Though Ellis being interviewed today it was likely to be an American and I believe that

      1. Andrew avatar

Sucks that people who make/born into their own money, don’t wanna lose it all.

I must admit I did wonder what that Texas tour thing was about.
Texas isn’t really a hotbed for footy as far as I know, is it?

If it’s going to be more American owners, these would be the sort I’d actually quite like.

Probably breadheads, yes, but at least they do seem to genuinely love sport.

I’m cynical, to say the least.
Aston Villa and owners with a total wealth of $14 billion?

    Nah, we’re not that lucky.

    1. IanRobo avatar
      IanRobo

well maybe this time ? Well lets hope so but Anschutz at 70 I doubt would want to take on a PL side by himself.

Just have put aside his abhorrent personal views (well to me at least).

      1. Badger123 avatar
        Badger123

Ah man, I’d better not look into his personal views then.

The thing that worries me, is if we get someone in who has nowhere near this sort of wealth, some will be moaning before he even comes.

Given that Randy Lerner is pretty much deemed a pauper in the ridiculous world of Prem footy, I think that whoever comes in needs to be either very, very wealthy or very brave.

What a state the game’s in when only billions will be enough to take us forward 🙁

        1. IanRobo avatar
          IanRobo

Depends on what your own personal views are, lets say he is very much of the religious right …

yeah if you want to compete you have to have the cash, I hate it but there is not the magic way of say ‘Dortmund’ etc …. not in today’s football.

I will very pleased if we show ambition but enjoy it from the sidelines … unless an owner for once sees how little attendance money now matters and lowers it to German levels (wont happen).

          1. Andrew avatar

Dortmund’s going the money way soon enough anyways, but then they do have it. Cash is the only way for us, unfortunately.

Anschutz is 74, and apparently winding down quite a few of his business interests; if he’d been looking for a British club on which to lavish cash, he could have easily gone for one before now [Liverpool, Newcastle, Sunderland, even ManU].

Let’s wait and see before getting too excited by rather tenuous speculation.

Is the billions measured in the US or UK billions? Big difference…

      1. Andrew avatar

US. so they’re worth about 8 billion pounds or so. Which is still a hell of a lot of money.

  8. Robo I’ll go along with what you’ve found out, you know thinking about it it makes sense, I also think Deadly involved in it in some way, he’s never left Villa park from day one. Who do you think might take on Faulkner’s roll ? Deadly ? its not beyond him after all its only advice in the game, and directorship he has that, plus the love of Villa. Mind blowing thought.

      1. marvin avatar

Yep, I just read a few articles claiming all transfers and contracts are on hold. Albrighton must be absolutely gutted right now.

  13. OriginalLondonLion avatar
    OriginalLondonLion

The interview with Doug Ellis on R5L tonight was clear enough, Doug isn’t the sharpest tool in the box nowadays (good for 90 though) but he did say he had been told it is a done deal in the sense that one specific American has made an offer which Lerner is likely to accept subject to the fine print, but Doug does not know who that is. Yes he referred to Lambert in the past tense.

The one good thing about this year is that it is a World Cup year. If you think back to the last World Cup there was a hiatus in the transfer merry go round until after it ended. And of course the World Cup itself threw up some new hot properties, who would displace existing big names. So the new owner and hopefully new manager will not be missing the boat in the same way they would in 2013 or 2015.

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Knowing our luck takeover will happen just after window so they have a good excuse for not spending. Not much happens transfer wise till after World Cup so all rumours re players until then are total bollox. Hope we don’t sign anyone in World Cup these new names are usually crap and just play themselves into tge window for a couple of weeks.

Ellis might be a bit past it, but he isn’t going to lie about the Villa now, imo.

New owner coming in and Lambert gone.
I’ll go with that for now, until things are proven to be different.

Yep, the WC should give us more breathing space.

      Bum Bum

On looking at articles from the Mail over the past few days, their speculation and guesswork is about the same as on this site! Lol!

  15. I really hope a new owner is installed soon as all I see happening in the close season is a chairman who’s going to spend FUCK all for obvious reasons with the same manager who’s biding his time until he gets the chop. We’re in limbo with no direction atm, I’m one impatient fucker.sooner the better I hope it’s not one rush job before the season starts.I live in hope

    1. To right mate the last thing we need is this to drag on through the summer and we are left with the present shower of shite at VP come August but there again that wouldn’t be in the new owners interests so a quick deal is very much on the cards imo.

      1. I hope so mate I just have this horrible feeling I don’t think it’s going to be as straight forward as some fans foresee. What negative bastard I am 🙁

        1. Nobody is going to stump up £200m then risk that by leaving it to late to get their own man in and furnish him with the funds and time needed for the total rebuild down at VP.
No way they can allow the same team to start next season that finished last, on form we’d be down by Christmas.

  16. LOL……IANROBO……. it gets funnier by the minute. Your even stealing stuff from this site now.
Look back about 6 weeks on here when I used the screen name ‘my name is Anschutz and I am buying the Villa’…go on look back!
I used the name about 5 or 6 times before BWS rumbled me.
FFS….stop guessing and listen to me.
Having said that, your not too far off the mark this time. I am impressed that you managed to use the clues I gave you to good effect……well done. Further clues will be available on this site very, very soon. See if you can work them out again!

  17. steve avatar

I think the deal could go through relatively quickly (end of June).
If it drags on into the new season with no investment the team have a more than real possibility of being relegated next year. This would be a disaster for Lerner or any new owners.
With all the cut backs over the last 2 years and Lerners perceived lack of interest it is obvious he has been gearing up to sell. If a buyer isn’t lined up already i would be amazed.

  18. Probably a silly question why do the selling by an American company aimed at the American market there’s a big fucking world out there.

    1. Bum Bum avatar
      Bum Bum

They’d simply be the ones to broker the deal Giddy. They can be based anywhere, and at a guess, I’d say they’d done the business for Randy before.

    2. remember the vast majority of billionnaires are American and if you are looking at sports owners then America is the place.

  19. Jay Dee avatar
    Jay Dee

The fact that there is no sale at the moment could prove to be disastrous. The players we have are crap and will be around next season. The club pitchwise is really poorly and will be no quick fix.I fear for AVFC….UTV

    1. So I’m not the only doubter mate.

      1. I can understand the doubters and of course Randy is not going to allow spending in a takeover process, which indicates that any possible takeover is closer than some people really think.

There is actually enough cash in the club to spend some but what is the point if the manager is to change. Would a new manager want Gabby or delph to have new contracts or to give Albrighton a new one ?

        1. Bum Bum avatar
          Bum Bum

Imagine a delay that lasts all summer. We return at the end of August and Benteke and Kojak arestill out injured along with NZog. Albrighton has gone to Everton sick of waiting on a new contract. Randy cashes in another few million by selling Delph and Weimann to the Barcodea thinking a new owner will have time to scour the market for last minute leftovers. Ron is injured again with Okre far from match fit. With Lambert at the helm. We REALLY would be fooked!!!

Randy has been looking to sell for a couple of years, and I think he has now found a few buyers willing to stump up some cash, the deal couldn’t have been done if we went down – we are in the premiership so it will go through… He has put out his statement because the deal is not done yet, but I am sure if he had no buyers and was worried about finding one, he would not have put transfer activity on hold as premiership survival is financial imperative to him…… Lets just hope the new owner/s complete the deal quickly.

    1. Jay Dee avatar
      Jay Dee

I hope your right mate cuz I couldn’t stand another season like last. This uncertainty is worrying….Hoping for new owners very soon with big transfer kitty…….It could just be he(Lerner)has just put the club up for sale and there is no buyer

      1. Saddened avatar
        Saddened

It could be JayDee but its unlikely, acquisitions are all cloak and dagger stuff when consultants such as BoA (Merrill Lynch) work on this type of stuff its all kept very secretive, so Randy putting out on the WWW must mean he has a number of potential buyers, I heard there were 4…. lets just cross our fingers.

  25. With the Financial Fair play rules now in place im not really sure it matters that much who takes over we need to increase revenue. We could try doing this by putting our ticket prices up to the kind of Chelsea/Arsenal level i.e over £75 a ticket but we as fans are not so keen on financing success ourselves we always want someone else to do it so all i can see in the future is the same old same old no matter who is the owner of the club, that is modern football. Unless you are in the chamions league you are only ever going to be making up the numbers
