Well 4 days to go before we kick a ball in anger and things are looking good. But a certain ex-Villa player i;e Stan Collymore is only predicting a finish in 14th place. Now for me I am expecting us to finish above half way or even in top ten as long as Lambert can sell off the load of dead wood and bring in his other targets. The press seem to think there are quite a few Paul Lambert is looking at. So what are your predictions for this season?
I believe we can take at least a point against Arsenal, a win against Liverpool & Chelsea could go either way in my opinion. Collymore also predicts that the likes of West Brom, Newcastle & Everton to finish above us; does he really know what he is talking? I just can’t see an Everton side managed by Martinez finishing in the top 10!
So come on lets have your views. I’ve said mine, and I am really optimistic for our great club this season. Benteke has carried us in the last few pre-season games and we could end up with a player who can be a forty-goal-a-season striker. All we need is the defence to play their part & Collymore,s predictions are out of the window.Predictions Please.

Great news, once complete we should be able to bring in a good player. Like Lerner said, bents wages have already been added to the plans for this year so didn’t have to sell on the cheap, so saving 65k a week and bagging 5mil will give Lambert some freedon to explore the market again.
Assuming that any money doesn’t go straight in Randolf’s arse pocket we’ll be bringing in a player only football manager anoraks have heard of.
Not always a bad thing mate, Benteke??
Not saying it’s a bad thing but there’s no guarantee of success – you could have a Benteke or a Bennett!
Or people actually watch football outside the EPL?
I wouldn’t want Parker.. he’s too injury prone.. his fee 2.5M and 50K wages i am sure PL could find a younger way better player.. probably higher fee and less wages..
Hutton looked half decent last night.. it’s his wages that won’t let him move..
I am still hopeful we will get players in.. unless we smash Arsenal Chelsea and Liverpool all inside a week 😀
Agreed on Parker, his injuries last season really hindered him.
Agreed, someone younger and betterr, like Iborra of Levante though Sevilla are set to sign him or Camacho of Malaga.
removing players from our squad is proving 2b quite a effort , ok we av taken a hit in the pockets with bent but look at pool they played downing last year but still took a loss if they get 5m from hammers,
hutton did av a steady game last nite hopefully someone will think he can do a job 4 them ~ if we move two out and bring in another player which can add 2 the squad we will all be much happier
I don’t think Hutton is as bad as we all made out. Problem is he is associated with mcleish if lambert had signed him we would be saying he is half decent
Matt Kendrick tweeting….Sylla OUT of Arsenal game with a twisted ankle
No loss tbh
Don’t be daft, Sylla is going to have a cracker of a season.
We dont really have anyone to play that role. I have been screaming out all summer for an experienced DM
I have to say with Sylla out for the Arsenal game is does show our frailties in that area. We do now need a DM badly, before saturday would be nice.
***TO THE VILLA BOARD**
Get Barry in on Loan ffs, it’s only a season, I’m not a fan of loans but there is no harm in this one.
Do you think the they read this blog?
Has anyone officially confirmed the Barry link or was it just even more press nonsense?
Your call for a screening strongman echoes the many posts I have made during the close season.
After the initial burst of transfers in June, being Honest, I have been disappointed by the activity of late and the failure to address the need for a Claude Makele type player as well as a Coutinho type player.
I know there are players that need to be shipped out but without these 2 midfielder we will struggle
Agree ken we need a solid dm with a physical presence desperately.
Oohahh is Paul Fulkner lol
lol mate
Moyes is reported on the BBC news website as complaining about the fixtures list for ManU involving Chelsea and ManC at home and Liverpool away in their first five matches. I Quote “Moyes said: “I find it hard to believe that’s the way the balls came out of the bag, that’s for sure.””. That would imply that someone really doesn’t like the Villa!
He’s getting like fergie already trying to cheat the system and expect special favours because its utd. At least he has a class squad to deal with it which is more than wev got.
