Derby 2- 0 Villa; maybe a bit of perspective?

Ok, I expected to lose this one, so it’s not a major loss, in my opinion.
I called the score too, so hey hoh.
But it’s really not that important and while I see some of you are majorly upset, I don’t think it’s such a bad loss in the greater scheme of things.

Look. We will lose games over this season, because we really aren’t that great.
But it’s more about how the squads can last the pace and look how Sheff U have quickly fallen back.

There is no doubt that we have one of the best squads in the league, as much as we moan and bitch about the quality.
And we have to hope that this is what will sustain us in the long run.

Let’s get real and face the fact that we started yesterday without a proper striker.

Our squad is cut to ribbons with injuries (and in fairness, this has been an on-going thing, where you have to wonder why?) yet we are still up there.

All that said, we started the game without a recognised striker and you’re on to a loser before you start.
I seriously have to question why Hogan didn’t start?
And I can only think Steve Bruce thinks he’s useless.

Which makes you wonder who actually bought him?

Ha, I’m taking a positive view, just to counter the criticism that the site in general, is too negative.

Let’s see where we go in the next few weeks.

I predict a few losses over the Christmas period.
But it’s still a long term game, where regardless of what you think of Bruce, it’s what he does.

We’ll be thereabouts, at least.

  1. their striker almost got in again flagged offside but they will get in again like that over the top ball cos we are so slow at the back and high

  2. Well, that started great and ended rubbish.
No doubting our intent, but god, we look poor at the back.
And I doubt Terry would help that much in this game, as Chester is doing ok, imo.

  3. we started good with the ball. offering ourselves to the man on the ball. but this didnt last. the man on the ball gets isolated so hits a longer ball or passes back .

without the ball we have been bad like the millwall derby and leeds first half. we are not pressing good and now not at all. defence is high and slow and bad line

more goals in this for utd and bruce was livid . probably cause we had control of this game and its now anybodies

  4. Yes they are, we’ve lost games because of poor defending, again today defensive mistakes. Grealish is playing well, and its why I’m calling for more players with football skills.

    1. Ian Taylor has called Grealish “peripheral” Bill.
He’s done nowt, for me, I’m afraid and we have to do a lot more to get him into the game.

      1. Bruce has to go. We have a centre half on bench and he plays jedinek ffs. And why Elmo for Hutton! 2 points dropped at home we won’t win now

      2. i saw one cross field ball and like badger he has been on off alittle but its because utd have dominated the middle of midfield. since we went 2 nil

  5. i believe teams have worked how to frustrate us. and it started at the home game to wednesday. my major concern is the defending. we are so organised its scary. jedi and chester are to veterans surely they can organise themselves better2nd half. if not we will lose this one

  6. watch when taylor gets ball. nobody is offering for him. got to work off the ball make things easy for the guy on ball

  7. Our midfield is none-existent.
Whelan crap, Snodgrass and Hourihane almost invisible in this game, even when utd come at us down the middle.

  8. chester hit the long ball then . fans boo but he has nobody offering its the only ball available to him. we are rattled and only one winner its utd

  9. De Laet coming on for Snodgrass?
I actually agree with oohah that Hutton might be a better bet, to add some bollocks.

    1. that means elmo right wing i think that was a good call snodgrass is poor to many cutting inside

    1. Does he need to with Adomah out there?
I think he’s been very consistent in being “ok” fwiw.

  10. Grealish pulled back there, which strictly speaking was a second yellow.
The ref decided against and i’ve no major problem with that.
Another one and the utd player will go.

  11. Gabby on for Davis.
    Elmo off for Hogan.

For once I actually agree with this.
They’re crap at the back and any half decent striker has a chance here.
