Delph and Vlaar Targeting Villa Exit

Up to three Villa players could leave the club in January, with Villa’s poor form contributing to potential exits. Ron Vlaar, is yet to sign a new contract with Aston Villa and at this moment appears unlikely. Manchester United are keeping an eye out on the Dutch defender and would be willing to offer up to £6 million for his services.

Fabian Delph is another player that could leave club, with Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal all monitoring the situation. It’s believed that neither players are happy with the direction the club are moving in and could possibly snub new contracts in order to force a move out of Villa Park.

Bacuna is the third player that could potentially leave the club having been limited to only 4 appearances it appears as though he will evaluate his future at the club. Apparently the arrival of Roy Keane has hindered his progression at the club this season.

All in all, it’s not been positive for Aston Villa over the past few weeks. Aston Villa haven’t won since early September and since then only scored one goal. Players are being unsettled and questioning the direction the club is heading in. It’s difficult to keep key players if they see no bright future with the club. Having said that, the Villa board should be blamed for failing to tie up Delph much earlier. Towards the end of last season, Delph did say that he was happy at the club and he would be content with staying for the rest of his career. That was the time period in which you offer a man a contract. Losing both Delph and Vlaar would be a disaster as they have been our best players this season.

  1. Vlaar to United, haven’t read that one before. Haha

Vlaar and Delph to Pool is also a link, I’d honestly overall miss neither, especially Delph, but then again I wouldn’t want Lambert around to replace them.

It’s not surprising Keane’s disrupted one player, one of our better performers last season and could’ve been this season, so bad he’d want to leave. It’s what he does, he causes tension in a locker room.

    1. Fiorentina linked to Benteke, though not worried as they couldn’t afford him.

Also an interesting piece in the Metro

      http://metro.co.uk/2014/11/05/what-would-happen-if-aston-villa-actually-sacked-paul-lambert-4934316/

  2. We are a shambles, I dont blame either player for not signing a new contract. The moment that we offered PL a new contract, our fate was seaied.

  3. Would you want to stay at a club going nowhere?’, pretty obvious players are unsettled with a manager that don’t play to the fans, he is and will be noted as being on record a disaster to Aston Villa FC. Lerner a businessman not on your Nelly, more like a crook, in the name of English football.

  4. I have to say in all my 42 years on this planet, this is the most desperate Villa have been.
No direction, no passion, no plan.
All my baggies mates just laugh at me.
Villa are playing the worst football in the EPL, even Burnley are trying to give it a good go.

Oh well on a brighter at least we wont be playing city next year as they will be religated as well.

  5. In regards to these players leaving not surprised one fucking iota.can you blame them???

    mr fox
since you came in 3 new contracts for gabby hutton lambert and he is rated higher than fatty 1 gabby who no club has ever bid serious money 2 hutton who wasnt allowed to play for 2 years 3 lambert has the most records as manager of villa ever.
vlaar not really bothered if he goes get money back in jan if he goes overrated always missing in action
delph if he looking for more money let him go he is here 6/7 years 2/3 serious injuries time he repaid some loyalty or run sit best years on somebody bench because might be playing for england but not near good enough for top 6

  7. The sooner lerner goes and we sack lambert the better

Best players in a shite squad leave, it’s what happens and cannot blame them.

Although this is just rumour in a period when news is very slow…….

Both vlar and delph would be a huge loss because there is no way we will replace them with players even close to their quality, and delph is the one that really bothers me because he is a really good player IMO and if he only had better players around him people would see just how good he really is, Bacuna is another man management disaster just like bent, Hutton, nzogbia, Lowton, given, helenius, luna and probably okore because he doesn’t seem to anywhere near the team! Lambert out seriously what is he actually good at???

  10. Says everything about the present state of affairs ay AVFC when the common consensus on here is Who could blame them?

Go and fill yr boots lads. Take yr ambition elsewhere as there sure ain’t any left at Villa.

  12. I personally think Delph is a little over rated. He is a good squad player, can take a man or 3 or and carries good pace. He can tackle and will roll his sleeves up in the middle of the field. What he does lack is consistancey, assists, passing accuracy and doesn’t have a big enough impact on a game.
Don’t get me wrong i would be thrilled to keep him and play him regularly whilst trying to make him a better player.
vlaar is a great defender he carries all the qualities required for the job but he does tend to miss the obvious every other game or so. My preferred pairing at the back so far this season is Baker and Senderos. I believe Senderos has done a lot better than vlaar season and Baker really seems to be coming into his own this season.
I may bring on a few haters for this but I could happily see Delph, Vlaar and Benteke leave this January.
Up front I think Wieman deserves to be first choice striker, wieman has remained loyal, hard working and has shown he carries great potential. I can’t help but feel Wieman would be removing a big blockage in his pipes if Benteke was to move on.
I could happily see Delph leave if we were to keep Cleverly. Cleverly carries a bit more maturity and reliability than Delph in my opinion and again I think he would thrive if he was to become the main man in midfield.
Vlaar isn’t so easy to replace with him being our captain. But as said above I’m happy with the pairing of baker with Senderos and a okore as back up.
Before the first kick of a ball this season when Southampton sold all the big names we all thought they would struggle and tipped them to go down. I watched them on the first game and couldn’t belive how well balanced the team looked. The hidden gems who have now come shining through with wanyama and shcnieldelin.
Don’t for one second think we could do just the same but I do belive allot of negative press and would be taken away with players constantly linked here there and everywhere.
    Just my opinion guys.

    1. Tom agree with some of your points mate not too sure about the praise you show to weimann.in glimpses maybe but far too inconsistent imo,as for saints I feel they have a good manager bertrand seems to be an improved player under koeman says a lot for lambo as it seemed as if he was playing worse as the season progressed last term.vlaar & Delph far too injury prone as for benteke will we really miss for a few weeks?????

    2. kerryvillan avatar
      kerryvillan

Sell benteke put weimann up front? Wow I think a lots of teams would be thinking “sell our striker, buy benteke” u say delph is a bench player and whike I agree he needs to improve his assist and goal tally and his passing in general but they would all improve with better players around him, weimann on the other hand can’t dribble, pass, cross, is terrible at moving into space for midfielders to pass to and is a below average poacher that’s all he’s got oh ya and he works hard.

Cleverly is no where near as good as delph he offers nothing more to this team than Westwood and I would suggest delph being in the England squad and cleverly not being is a clear indication of that.

We have good players in this team just no plan or direction expect hit it to benteke and see if he can make something happen, simply not good enough.

    3. Tom Weimann’s to much of a short arse to play as the main striker, besides that he aint that quick, he aint particularly skilful and he isn’t so clever in the air, well apart from running around a lot just what exactly does he offer? Main striker? Sorry mate but I don’t think so.

    1. Sell beneteke = relegation.

      1. Keep lambert = relegation

  13. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/11214876/Fabian-Delph-deals-fresh-blow-to-Aston-Villa-after-revealing-he-is-unlikely-to-sign-new-contract.html

He’s honestly been poor this season despite this article claiming he’s been one of our best players this season along with Vlaar… No. But anyways, bye Delph.

  14. Tom- Weimann and Benteke need to play up front together. Enough of this shit 4-3-3 formation, let the 2 of them play together. Those two are ideal partners and link up well toegether.

    1. Tom I don’t disagree in all you’ve said, our problems have and will be coaching, Lambert doesn’t have any idea on what to do, I think most on here can see that, Benno I would also say Weiman, and Benteke need to partner each other, Lambert’s ideas have never worked, he came to Villa with this youth policy that made sense but ended up as a disaster, from then its got worse and worse, the same thing now with some of our players, all want out, like Barry, Milner, and others in the past can see failure in the club, I cannot blame player wanting out, its a short career and looking after their own life. Blame the club for not knowing what to do.

bloody hell, will there ever be any good news to come out of the Villa………RANDY WAKE UP AND SACK LAMBERT

  16. a lot of negativity around villa at the momment (with just cause i must add)the first thing i say,an open message to ron vlaar “if your thinking of leaving hand in that captains armband now” delph you have cost us more goals than you have created and because your a northern lad you should know the meaning of loyalty i despertly want lambert away from my club, but i fear a lot of lamberts players would take it badly and i dont think we can afford a period of unstability at the momment. “i believe we have to suck it up and hope he muddles through” but whoever is in control of this club at seasons end must never let this situation ever occur down at villa park again

His players are shit anyway how can they get any worse ffs

  17. For me Gabby and Weimann can leave it’s obvious Weimann will not improve much more and Gabby is in decline. Get rid now, and Start Grealish with Benteke up front. Something fresh, something new. Cant be any worse!

    1. #HELENIUS avatar
      #HELENIUS

I would love to see Grealish playing off Benteke…..he’d love to get at the centre backs who’d have to constantly bring him down. So much more to him then Weimann.

  18. Obviously Tekkers is out but when he is back I mean.

  19. Also, forgot to mention Callum Robinson, just like a younger version of Gabby but with more composure and a brain. Get him playing, he would link well with Grealish having come through the youth setup together.

  20. Delph and Vlaar will be missed to a degree but both injury prone and a bit overrated so no big deal, cash in whilst we can! they wont want to stay once were relegated anyway!

  21. Lamberts again come out and said he is not a quitter and doesn’t fear the sack.
After 2 seasons of consecutive worst home records in our history and now 6 defeats on the bounce if he had any real balls he would quit.
Regards Vlaar and delph – not bothered – average at best.

  22. The B’ham Mail is saying Delph as turned Villa’s offer so if want a fee for him he”l have to go in the Jan window.

At the moment Vlaar and Delph are both members of Villa’s best 11. So in that sense we haven’t got known replacements in the wings. But this is a poor Villa squad. Lambert does not know how to improve it on the budget he has. I think we should now bring forward the youngsters, because the rest of the first team squad have a losing mentality. There is a slim chance the youngsters could keep us up. The has-beens could not care less.

  24. West Ham fan next door gloating Araldyce manager of the month Sako player of the month, said getting a hiding tomorrow Villa, no I said we will lose 3-1 a hiding is 8 -0 or 7-1 🙂
