    Spot on Adam.

Strangely, my big fear is RL selling to an owner that ruins the club – just having money isn’t necessarily the answer – ask Sunderland, Fulham, QPR supporters et al. On balance, I think I would prefer RL to stay. We’ve seen that throwing money at signings is not the only way to build a good side

Hitch your right mate, Randy Lerner was miss informed of the English game over here, Fatty Faulkner was not the best of advisers in the game, I like Cleverly think he’d be a big asset to Villa as for Lerner hope he don’t ruin our club on a sale.

Hope Cleverly does sign, I really do. He is class, especially when he has class around him (Delph and Grealish) and clearly a manager that gives him confidence. Keep this midfield together is a big must in my opinion. As right now, we have one of the best performing midfields in the league. Bring in one more solid midfielder and release one or two and we will have a good strong midfield.

Also think RL should stay right now unless like I said before we get some mega billion investor willing to splash cash to shoot villa up the table. But under Sherwood, Fox and RL we could see some steady improvement and some exciting football.

Lots of reports about Massim Luongo being a big target for Villa in the summer. He was brilliant for Australia in the Asia Cup and was a big part of the success and is a massive success story for Swindon Town. Quality player in a Cahill type mold. He was also under Tim Sherwood in his youth development and from what I hear, Sherwood was there watching the Swindon vs Sheffield game.

Darren….thanks for link mate. He looks a talent and Sherwood has seen him in training so knows what he is capable of. Is he under contract or a free agent?, better still if we get him on a free!

Exactly right.. Sherwood would well know what he was like and Luongo has only improved further since Sherwood was working with him in Tottenham youth division of. I believe he still has a year to run on his contract at Swindon.

Strange isn’t it? Not long ago we’d have happily clubbed together for Cleverley’s taxi fare out of VP and ran Lerner out on a rail.

Suddenly Cleverley is revealed as a decent player and, with Tom Fox and TS in charge, Lerner doesn’t seem to matter so much. Actually hope he continues on as a sale may throw a spanner in the works of a potentially successful 2015/6 season.

Really optimistic now. Tim had revealed that we haven’t got such a bad squad and with a few additions who knows what might be possible?

PAT57….absolutely right mate. I deffo want Cleverley to stay! I have been one of Lerner’s fiercest critics but I am edging towards the ‘wanting him to stay brigade’. However, thats only if he keepx Fox, Sherwood and Benteke and gives the manager 30-35 mil to spend, lets face it, thats very little in todays game! We really cant have another relegation threatened season in 2015/16 season. I really hope that Randy has learnt a very valuable lesson in terms of underfunding! We can move forward with confidence with Fox/Tim at the helm….this will be a massive summer for Villa and I’m fearful that Tim could walk without proper backing….Lerner must not allow that to happen or its back to square one!

No way will Sherwood walk if Lerner underfunds us. He needs stability and prove himself as a long term manager

Problem is this is all short term Sherwood will never keep this up and neither will Cleverley he’s only just pulled his finger out where was he the last 30 games ffs. Do not offer a player a new deal because he’s had half a doz good games for us we’ve done that before and look what happens.

Oohah…just how do you define ‘short term’? Sherwood has been a manager for 2 PL teams where he has been in charge for 32 games (almost a full season). Moreover, his win rate percentage is the highest amongst English management in the PL over that period of games! Add to that, the fact that he inherited both Spurs and Villa squads, which means he hasnt been able to buy a single player yet, and your argument looks completely stupid!….no surprise there!

No….its nearly a full season. Noticed you failed to define short term. Its very subjective!

If he keeps this win ratio for all of next season then fair enough I will eat my words but I doubt he will

Why cant Sherwood keep it up?……its all guesswork like everything else in football. As for Cleverley, he’s playing in a greatly changed system/formation that suits his game….thats good management whatever way you dress it up!

Because he couldn’t at Spurs plus he has no tactical ability. Motivation and hard work only takes u so far

But considering all the negatively descriptive words you have used to describe our squad and players that are in your words ‘championship level’ bar one or two players you have to admit, and for once in your life pay respect where it is due, Sherwood has done an amazing job winning all these games and taking us to a FA Cup final with this Championship team of pathetic players (in your words)

Lambert was responsible for the cup run that got us there in the first place. Bit like tony Barton taking over from Saunders. The players are average at best but playing above themselves and are playing a lot of teams with nothing to play for. Even Wimbledon, hull and Portsmouth have reached The Isis FA cup final with rubbish players means nothing. Sherwood has been lucky that benteke suddenly decided to play himself into the window the past 10 games a luxury lamberk never had. Let’s see what happens next season and see if he can keep win ratio for a full season somehow I doubt it

Guess Lambert was responsible for our win against Liverpool then? In which you said we had no chance. Id suggest Sherwood has got Benteke playing again just like he did Adebayor at Tottenham, not that Benteke has suddenly decided to play.

Just glad Sherwood and our players don’t have your attitude, or we would never get anywhere.

I would like an owner who is sitting up there in the director’s box at least for all home games, and seen to be enjoying himself when the team is playing well. No po-faced Levy type thank you, I’d rather have a Delia Smith!

Cleverley has been outstanding recently, as have Delph, Grealish and Benteke. This is largely down to Sherwood and his coaching team. They have not only built confidence in the players, but also got them playing a more positive style of football. Let’s hope Cleverley signs and keeps developing under Sherwood.

First-off, I like Concrete Ron, and I hope he stays around for a while yet.

However: his injury record has been pretty awful, and it’s difficult to imagine Villa relying on him in a key position for a whole season. That’s why I don’t believe that there’ll be a long queue of top clubs coming looking for him, and there’s no way I’d let him hold us to ransom over his future.

If he is to stay, I think that he should realise that it’s not just him doing us a favour – Villa may be his last/ best hope of another long-term contract at EPL salary levels!
