Aston Villa have been drawn against Tottenham for the next round of the Capital One cup. Aston Villa beat Rotherham 3-0 last night after Weimann, Benteke and Delph all scored to secure Aston Villa an advance to the next round of the Capital One cup. Aston Villa will play at home yet again, but will host Tottenham. Tottenham automatically qualified into the third round due to their top 5 finish in the Premier League.
Tottenham will be much tougher opponents and it’s not only because they play in the top flight, they are signing some of the hottest players in Europe, and are definitely making the most out of Gareth Bales’ hugely inflated price-tag.
Still, it should be a good encounter and I hope that Spurs don’t take the tie too seriously, and focus their attention on the Premier League and Europa League.
The major thing we have going for us in this tie is that spurs will not be able to commit a 100% 1st string 11
also spurs fans are not relishing playing against us in the tie although for me it seems they usually do well at VP.
Who did expect a result against Man City away last year? Nobody. But we came through. It´s a home tie against a strong team. It will be a good contest.
Btw, Gabby is playing at his best football. Great game yesterday. And from our 7 goals this season he created 4 (including 2 pen fouls against him) which is sensational. Benteke and Delph are in the limelight atm, but Gabby is absolutely on bar with them so far.
I was thinking the same, in that they won’t take this very seriously, as their signings show they think they have much bigger things to concentrate on.
Don’t forget it’s not just the Bale money they are spending. The increase in the wage bill must also be pretty phenomonal.
And even if they do put a second string out, it’d most likely still be a very decent side.
Still, I really don’t think our kids will fear anyone this season, so bring it on!
