Bomb Squad Given Second Chance

This week Paul Lambert has made a u-turn decision in regards to his bomb squad team, following orders from Lerner (and the board) Lambert has been told to give the likes of Hutton, Bent and N’Zogbia a fair chance next season. That means that the trio will be promoted to first team training and will likely feature next season. But there is a major BUT, Aston Villa are still trying to sell the trio, but following uncertainties surrounding the club Lambert will need to utilise all the players he has in his disposal.

Now, the chances of selling the trio are still low, granted the season just ended. But this could have a positive impact on the side, more experience will be brought into the team and some would also argue, more quality. There were many of us who believed that N’Zogbia could’ve made a difference in the team this season, we’ve been missing a quality attacking midfielder and N’Zogbia could fit that role. He’s not a bad player by any means, but he hasn’t achieved the level of performance that was set whilst in Wigan. Last season N’Zogbia scored 4 goals for the club, two in the Premier League.

Darren Bent on the other hand didn’t have the best time in Fulham, not only was the club relegated but he only managed to score 6 goals in 29 appearances. Only 3 of those goals came in the Premier League, sure Bent is ageing and might not offer much to the team, but I disagree. Yes, if Bent can be sold I’d be ecstatic, that would free up a lot of room in the wage bill, but lets say he stays at the club. Not only does his give Lambert a new option up front, but he’s certainly better than a lot of players we have right now. Especially since the injuries to Kozak and Benteke we’ve been really weak up front, Bent could’ve changed that.

The last ‘big’ name of this list is Alan Hutton, where do we start. I don’t think he’ll get sold this summer, if no one wanted him in the past few seasons why would someone make an offer now. He played well at Mallorca and that was honestly our best chance to sell him, unfortunately Hutton and Mallorca couldn’t agree on a contract. Can Hutton strengthen our team? Maybe… this season the right-back slot has been a bit inconsistent. Lowton certainly didn’t match the standards that he set in the previous season and Bacuna is slowly learning his trade at right-back. Maybe Hutton could make an impact in some of the early Cup Games?

Still, I’d prefer to play these players if they aren’t sold this season. If we’re paying for their wages, why not use them. Yes, there are some better players in the side but perhaps some experience could aid our young squad. And fans don’t know what to expect this summer, I surely don’t. So if we fail to sign many, if not any players this season I’m sure that the return of N’Zogbia, Hutton and Bent will offer something to Villa.

How about telling me what you’re seeing or preferably send me a screenshot?

I’m seeing nothing wrong, apart from a new “share this” image. Everything else seems ok.
I turned Jetpack off for a couple of mins just and re-installed the latest version of WP.

The point is, if I can’t see what’s wrong, I don’t know what to look at.

    1. It’s back in all its technicolour glory now Badger.

    Hmm, I think it’s a jetpack problem.
I use Firefox as my browser, which is working fine.
But I’ve just tried IE and it looked like the mobile site.
I’ve turned Jetpack off and will look into it.

Can people confirm that things are currently ok?

Site seems fine – using IE – not sure what problems others are seeing.

  6. I have to keep filling in my details & what the fucks IE???? Does my phone have one????

IE = Internet Explorer [Microsoft]; your ‘phone won’t use it, just old-fashioned laptops/desktops.
[Oh, and I’ve had to re-enter my details this time as well – didn’t need to last time!]

      1. Cheers mate I’m IT illiterate, thick as they come.

  7. It seems fine now keep that jetpack fueled up badger.

    It wasn’t Jetpack.
I installed a compression engine a few days back to speed up the site.
It seems it’s glitchy, so I’ve de-activated it and turned Jetpack back on.
Things should hopefully be ok now.

    “What’s IE?”
Internet explorer, only the most (in)famous web browser in the world, by Microsoft.
You’re not exactly a technophile are you Giddy? 🙂

I’m not sure why you need to keep entering your details mate.
You haven’t been messing with the settings on your phone have you? 🙂

    1. No mate my reply above answers that.

        1. Mate I meant my reply to ardent regarding to being thick as fuck when it comes to anything IT related.

  9. See Leicester have signed Albrighton, decent enough player but no where near worth this alleged £35k a week but still good luck to the lad.

Agree with you about Albrighton – another ‘next-big-name-in-the-making’ from the over-rated Academy. Decent enough player, and I remember more than a few on here saying that he would be better than ‘Webcam’ when the latter went to ManU [not that he’s made a big impression there either…]

It just seems that Villa have a habit of producing players who were ‘brilliant’ as teenagers, but never seem to really hit it in the EPL when they get into their 20’s; the Fonz is another, and I suspect that the latest Gardiner may be the latest?

      1. And lets not forget the Moore brothers.

Only my personal opinion, but I’d include Agbonlahor in that list.

OK, he’s been an ‘established’ premiership player for a good few years now, but apart from some rumoured interest from Arsenal about 5 years ago, I don’t think any of the more successful PL clubs have ever seriously wanted him; look at his goal tally and it’s hard to imagine many PL clubs keeping him for as long as we have.

      2. Ardent, they (Leicester) may have promised the moon but I wish him good luck to him in getting it because a quick google of this King Power lot at Leicester and it unearths less than squeaky clean past, they appear to be a right shady outfit, wiki them mate.

Thai owners don’t come squeaky-clean – remember Thaksin Shinwatra at ManC’s before the Arabs ? He had blood on his hands, not just billions of mis-appropriated state funds [allegedly].

Mind you, this lot are a bit daft if they announce that they’ve got £180m to spend over the next couple of years: just watch the rising prices and wages of the players they sign!

So with the claims being Kirsa and Culverhouse getting the boot. Gotta wonder who Lambert’s looking at for the coaching staff.

This about sums up the club as a whole. A complete shambles. I still cant believe i am still seeing the phrase ‘Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert’ It makes me feel sick!! 🙂

Even worse he will be allowed to get 2 new assistants. It was obvious he was staying when learner waxed lyrical about him a month ago. We are stuck with lamberk until club is taken over and even it wouldn’t surprised me if they gave him some time to price himself

      1. Andrew avatar

While yes it is a disappointment he’s still here, is it not better than he get 2 new assistants than have the two morons back at the club?

  12. Shite players ,shite manager, shite chairman no money we are in the worst place deffo goin down next season GUTTED .

    1. Andrew avatar

Count it! May 23rd/24th (depending on where you live), Little 8 has claimed we are already going down next season! Despite it not even being June yet.

      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Agree little8 we can’t even compete with Leicester ffs. We Shoukd go down this year and we deserve to

      1. Andrew avatar

        Can’t compete with Leicester? So you’re claiming Albrighton’s well worth 35k? Lol…

And if we go down is the only way we deserve too.

Anyone seen the latest Beeb trailer for the WC?

The subbuteo players get to Brazil and a Brazilian says “it’s the spritual home of football”.
Then a Brummy accent pipes up with “I thought that was Villa park?”

    Quite funny.
