Barnsley – Villa; Penultimate chance saloon?

I’d have said last chance, but it seems the press are reporting that RDM might get the Preston game too and I suppose that’s fair enough.
It’s not that I want RDM gone for the sake of it. It’s just that I’m not convinced he’s the man to motivate the team in the way that’s required to get results.
Opinions seem divided though and if we don’t win tonight I think I’m going to run a poll in the next post.

Talking of managers, it seems Nigel Pearson might have been involved in another punch-up;

Well, it’s the only reason for a club suspension that I can think of anyway.

And Fat Sam has been caught talking about third party ownership, which could see him sacked too;

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09/27/sam-allardyces-position-as-england-manager-under-threat-after-te/

I’d take either of them over RDM, for what it’s worth.

Anyway, on to the game and Barnsley are without injured full-back Aidy White and Cole Kpekawa is likely to continue in his absence. Saidy Janko is out with a torn thigh muscle, while James Bree could feature after overcoming his hamstring problem.

On our side, Ross McCormack might be fit to return and Jack Grealish will probably be recalled.

So what to think?

Ian Holloway thinks our late show against Newcastle might have been a turning point and he actually predicts a Villa win.

Me, I’m not convinced and the first 70 minutes of that game disgusted me.

I’d go for another draw, but surely the odds are against that?

So a 1-0 win for us then.
And if we don’t get it, RDM is another step closer to the sack.

    What an idiot! RDM drops Westwood at last and with Villa one up, he brings Westwood on. This is true of politics and football management, there is no possible gain from that sub. Even if the player is not responsible for the team crumbling from control to hanging on and conceding, he will be blamed.

      Nath, your up on this Question, has Di Matteo in all his managerial career drawn in most games in all the clubs he’d been in.?

    Coincidence? Took him off in the last match and scored. Brought him on this match and conceded.

    I have more faith in a cardboard cut out than RDM
    Carnt believe we keep employing managers who show absolutley no idea how to man manage during games.

    Never been a footballer or manager so what do i know

    If Sam gets it, the first time William turns up to watch will be interesting
    “Ah, so glad you could come Sir. Nothing better to do today?”

    Hate to say it but bruce wants the job and dr tony will see past his blue nose roots and get him in

    When you have Bacuna and Cissokho in your defence you know your going to concede at least one so you should all have seen it coming.

    Maybe everyone saying we could get relegated at the start of the season were actually thinking straight!

      Yes and no.
      Before dr tony splashed the cash we was worried about the squad.
      But when we out spent every championship and most prem clubs and brought in players to suit the division expectations rose and rightly so.
      Di matteo has to take the flack end of especially when westwood and bacuna still get games not to mention he resembles a pensioner at a bus stop not a manager coaching his team in his technical area

    Big Sam can get us out of this league. RDM out now. That’s 10 games and we do not look like improving. In fact we look like we are going backwards. That’s it I’m putting the house on a villa draw on Saturday ! Fuck me was last year’s pain not enough for us to suffer. On the plus side we are unbeaten in 5 games ! I feel the doc would have expected for a lot more from his investment so far.
