Aston Villa Closing in on Ki Sung-Yueng

Aston Villa are set to sign Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung. Paul Lambert has stepped up his efforts to sign a new holding midfielder and Ki will be Aston Villa’s first cash signing of the transfer window. Ki spoke to Paul Lambert over the weekend and will most likely be the 4th addition to Aston Villa.

Paul Lambert has asked Randy Lerner to offer Ron Vlaar a new contract. Vlaar has had an excellent World Cup campaign and there are clubs interested in his services so it’s important for the club that he stays on. In general, following the signing of Ki, Lambert will switch his attention temporarily on handing out new contracts to Vlaar, Delph and Agbonlahor.

Vlaar has been linked with moves away from Aston Villa, while Newcastle have made a £5 million bid for Delph.

Signing Ki would be a fantastic move. Failed to impress in his first season in Swansea but massively improved at Sunderland. He can hold on to the ball very well and offers more creativity than Westwood, Delph and El Ahmadi. Ki would be, so far our best signing should this move go through.

Decent player, really good holding midfielder with decent ball retention and as you say, is creative too.

Ki is a great signing Lambert n Keane doing ok so far.Im happy with Cole and Richardson jury out for Senderos but he is keen to as he says”Defend The Colours”which is good enough for me.Ki will be another improvement on our midfield. If Delph has gone Goodluck and goodbye….UTV

  3. He looked decent player when I noticed him at Sunderland and Swansea, full of wanting the ball to me, yes hope it goes through, you’ve got to admit Lambert seeing the light as they say just hope it works.

Has anyone seen ki play. Tbh I never heard if him till last couple of days.

Yeah, he was decent at Sunderland last season oohah. Nothing special, 2 good feet and good passer but not really a goalscorer. In essence, not really what we need but the squad is so shit even a truly average player will stand out.

Thanks Belcs a good passer us useful as can unlock defences when we are at home. Sounds about par for the course for us. Though typically his agents as saying he’s not coming. Probably another season ticket ploy like Honda etc

          2. Andrew avatar

He’s exactly what we need, a holding midfielder. Someone who can actually protect the defense, while being able to pass. None of our other midfielders protect anything. He’ll give a bit of relief to the defense.

          4. this transfer does have some truth in it, that agent wouldn’t be the first 2 lie and do a deal under the table. also funny now swansea chairman says he wants ki to chat with manager and discuss new deal.

i find it strange the deal was quoted 1.5 mill and now the figure thats being talked about is 6 mill, when swansea only bought him for that figure.

who knows but we need someone like him if he decides to stay with swans

Just found a link to this on twitter, it was apparently posted before everyone on twitter started posting about villa approaching Mainz. Make of it what you will..

    1. Legion Worldwide?? Just Googled them and they appear to be more agents for sports men/ women as opposed to investors in sport but hey ho perhaps they’re diversifying?

        #HELENIUS

They are like agents….for sports franchise investors etc. It’s not them directly who would be putting the money up

        1. Cheers, the following is from their website so they have an interest in the city but whether there is any connection with AVFC may be a little spurious.

Director of operations Demetrios Hadjigeorgiou said: “Having a presence in Birmingham makes commercial sense and supports the firm’s strategy to have a UK-wide presence from which to deliver its funding solutions. Our expansion in the Midlands clearly shows our commitment to growth.”

Hope it’s not true virtually saying that. Rung a selling club like Southampton will get us back up there. With good management but not much money to spend. In other words randy Lerner Mark 2

TBAR is a joke of a site, wouldn’t believe anything, anyone writes on that.
And as for this HH? He is just blowing smoke up the arses of the ppl that run it.
It lost all credibility when it started deleting members for stating that they made up ‘ITKs’ to boost site traffic.

    1. 6million?

    2. Andrew avatar

6m seems a lot for a player who was out on loan last season and in his last year. I’d expect it to be a fair bit less.

  7. i think the figure is close to 1 1/2 milllion ki is entering his last 12 months swansea don’t even rate him even thou the 6 million was the figure he was bought for from celtic

Our signings have been so embarrassing, everyone else is laughing at them.
Richardson is exactly a the signing a relegation battling team would make, a perennial loser. Joe Cole will spend 80% of the season injured (and even thats optimistic) and Senderos is a error prone laughing stock like Bramble.
Ki would be okay I guess, nothing great but at least a mid table PL player.
My feelings have not changed since June, we will finish bottom and these awful signings and the continuance of the moron Lamberk as manager reinforce that completely.

    1. well i suggest you bet on this 🙂 act now and u could earn urself a few quid ~ price is 14/1 16/1 this is to finish bottom only good luck

Even perennial crock Owen Hargreaves is tipping us foe relegation in Metro today. Lerner, you leave me lost for words.
At least that useless advert for weight watchers has gone. Scant consilation.

    1. Has nobby savage put his pennies worth in yet??he really loves us.

  10. Its that what gets to me, they use us by false media coverage in many ways, buy tickets, buy merchandise, buy papers, they use fans for gain. Sod it don’t buy just wait and see what they do first, its your money look after it. Lerner must think we are idiots over in the U K.

    1. steve avatar

I have taken your advice Bill. Not renewed – not going to unless positive intent is shown by the club.
I’ve felt an idiot for years renewing out of habbit instead of enjoyment.

      1. I know its hard Steve because we love our club, but in this day and age its theirs now, and its your money they want, what do they give back to us fans, sweet Adams apple, Man utd don’t work like that and that’s our third city, we have too many people today that gives in to money people. I say you got, you give, and if I like I’ll have it. That’s me now.

        1. Bum Bum avatar
          Bum Bum

Are the renewals down to 9000 still? Ehat was the number last year? 29000?

    2. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

spot on bill transfer rumours are just that rumours. prob 99% are made up to sell tickes etc. if and when it is true it will be announced on os until then its all bollocks

  11. Dont renew….dont be bullied by Lerner. This club is OURS and the decision to renew or not is OURS. Dont be clouded by bullshit. Keep your hard earned cash in your wallet until some REAL ambition is shown!
Dont let Lerner take the piss anymore. Lerner, let the fucking moths out of your wallet. Your an ignorant, bullying yankee twat! so……………….
Fuck off Lerner, the Villa is OURS!

    1. Get it off your chest mate. 😮

      1. LOl Giddy…you know me mate. Lerner needs a good kicking 🙂

Im 100% Villa and always will be, although we don’t have a “special one” as manager, or new signings in there 20’s, we do still have players “willing” to pull on the colours of our mighty villa, and in Lambert we have a manager “trying” to do the best he can with the beans hes given, its the puppet masters above who cant run a football club and they are now clearing out … I say give this season our all in terms of support as I have a good feeling that we will finish nowhere as dismal as the as the 2 seasons … Give these new guys a chance for once and lets get Villa Park rocking again!!!

  12. Richadson was shit in his prime Cole is well past it Senderos is too slow were fucked.

  13. , sorry commer.
