Antonio Luna Signs for Eibar for Free

Aston Villa have canceled Antonio Luna’s contract with Aston Villa and has now signed a two-year deal with Spanish side Eibar. Luna signed for Aston Villa in 2013 for a fee of £1.5 million from Sevilla. He started his Villa career brightly by scoring in his debut in Villa’s 3-1 win against Arsenal on the first day of the season. Since that game, his performances dipped significantly and ultimately lost his starting spot to Bertrand who was brought in on loan for the remaining of the season.

Luna went out on loan to Verona last season where he struggled for game time, and eventually moved to Spezia a Serie B team for the second half of the season. Not a great loan spell in Italy. Perhaps it’s best for Luna who became known as Tony Moon among Villa fans because he clearly isn’t good enough for the Premier League and he struggled to stop many wingers. I can’t necessarily blame Luna for his time here, he just wasn’t good enough and perhaps wasn’t the best of buys by Paul Lambert.

  1. He’s certainly shot himself in the foot with his previous comments,I can safely say the VILLA fans will be extremely unforgiving whenever we play city presumably only if he’s on the field which I doubt he’ll just be a squad player in bit roles.I wish him the worst yes I’m a scorned fan

  2. Fuck him, he’s a typical footballer. Comes out with stuff that the fans want to hear but had no intention of meaning what he said. I wish him all the success he deserves for the way he’s treated us, what goes around comes around, not that I’m bitter or anything. 😉

Welcome to VP Idrissa Gueye. Hope you and your family enjoy your stay in Birmingham and that it’s a successful one. 🙂

  3. B6 yes DITTO in relation to GUEYE MATE.

Am I the only one who thinks Delph is a bit rubbish? What is he really good at?

I’ll actually be quite happy if he goes, and I am happy that cleverly has already gone. They’re not that good at football. We have a manager who can make average players excel, imagine what he can do with quality.

delph is only being signed to fill the quota of english players. he is not champions league class . never was never will be ,at least we got £8m for him it would have hurt more if he left for nothing. the £8m pays for Gueye.

    3. New Regime, I’m in agreement with you on your comment, Delph and I said it in comments was an explosive type of player, I mean that in a nice way, he first came in and you could see he was going to be sent off or booked, he showed aggressive tackles and I liked his attitude being determined in the game, after all he was trying, now to me he’s a Judas saying and not meaning it, he’s now finding a new roll for England and its turned his head, but be assured only time will tell if he can maintain that type of football for City, me! well he can go need to start putting football back a Villa Park.

the club can’t be blamed for the 8m release clause.
other than not extending his contract last summer.
delph was on his way out for nothing.
    players hold all the power.
senderos, cole etc are not going anywhere
unless they get a better deal somewhere else.
players would rather pick up there money than play these days.

Senderos did well for us before getting injured. Baker and Vlaar played well next to him too.

    Some comments look silly now

  9. To late Delph, you’ve burnt your bridges you Judas prick, you could of come out yesterday and quashed all the rumours but clearly Man Citeh weren’t giving you assurances. Fuck off back up north you Judas Prick!!

    1. Why is he a Judas he hasn’t left . Some people are never happy.

      1. Mike, he’s a lovely man really ? Honest he is. The turn coat.

Just read Delph’s press statement. He’s gone massively up in my estimations. Loyalty is extremely rare to come by these days, especially in the world of football. Well done Fab. Even though he is a bit inconsistent as a player, I don’t think there’s a better person at the club to be captain. Think he would have been a fool to sign for City, particularly when he only has to look as far as Sinclair and Richards to see how that could have potentially worked out! Could have been to end of his England career!

  13. I’m well chuffed he’s staying. I knew he would. Our midfield is going to be awesome next seson. :))

Good lad Delph, you know it makes sense. 😉

  14. Well that proves the unbelievable bullshite the media dream up,it was obviously a media transfer from start to finish.my only question is why didn’t he come out & say this a lot earlier?? I don’t think that did him any favours in my book simply why now????when supposedly today the deal would be completed.strange

    1. Ps I think Richards & Sinclair had another word in his shell like.

      1. I think you’re right Giddy. 🙂

        1. Or he failed his medical?????I’m sure that was due today.

          1. Ha ha, I do actually think a few people had a quiet word with him. 😉

          2. MATE I thought I’d throw that one in before the media did

    2. Giddy I’m gob smacked mate, where’s my fucking tablets.

      1. FUCK the tabs MATE top shelf get it down YER. 😀

  15. I apologise Fabian. I was annoyed that there was talk of you going to Man City and it hurt. It hurt because I want Villa to build a team capable of being competitive in the Premier League and all we seem to do is sell our best players. After the comments you came out with in January when you signed your new contract, as a fan it was refreshing to hear. You belong at Aston Villa, You will never be loved more than you are at Aston Villa.

    Sorry Fab. 🙂

    1. B6, Amen to that. What a lovely man.

  16. How come its only the OS reporting this story?????

    1. Giddy mate if it’s on the OS then it’s believable. 😉 I herd it on Sky Sports News.

      1. CHEERS MATE I can’t read anything anywhere

        1. Darren avatar

Birmingham mail and Manchester evening news have also reported it

  17. If there is a clause in his contract then the club need to sit down with him and give him a new contract MINUS the clause. We’re not going to be fighting relegation any more. We are going to build a team around our better players and Delph fits into that category.

Despite my passion somewhat boiling over I am chuffed to bits he is staying.

What odds on Benteke signing a new contract?

    1. Didn’t he have a meeting with the gaffer last Wednesday I suppose in this instance no news is good news.

    2. B6 I agree sign a new contract without that poxy clause in it.

    3. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

I know IV always said benteke would leave but wouldn’t surprise me if he stayed as don’t think he really wants to play for pool plus they won’t go above £25m. Also pool fans on the whole don’t want him and the Liverpool media Mafia have been trying to convince their supporters he’s good enough for them

  18. Dave67 avatar

Well was not expecting that news. Fucking media.

  19. There’s a write up in the mail (I would post the link but I’m not technically gifted) stating he was 100% on his way to Man City but had a change of heart. However the 8 million pound release clause does still exist in his contract. The club need to make it a priority to get that contract changed. If he’s having a clause put in then make it for 30 million.

    1. So he’s staying for the time being????let’s see what happens January.

      1. Mmmm, that had crossed my mind too. I think he’ll give it the full season and then see where we are next year. I’d accept it if he wanted to go next year PROVIDING we hadn’t progressed as a club. At least the lad is giving us a chance which is rarely heard of these days. Onwards and upwards. 🙂

      2. steve avatar

I don’t think you get many opportunities to turn down a club with Man Citys financial clout. Has anybody else turned them down unless for a Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

        1. Mark my words the big boys will be in for him in January and again next summer.

  20. DSVilla avatar
    DSVilla

Well well. I didn’t expect that. Think of what Delph has done (if reports were true). He has turned down a team that will be competing for the Premiership and will be in the Champions League year after year. No doubt he was going to get paid a hell of a lot more as well.

    Big boost to the club.

    1. OohAhPaulMcGrath avatar
      OohAhPaulMcGrath

Something is strange about all this I think they may have turned him down

    1. Thanks Bill. 🙂

  21. steve avatar

I apologise to Fabian Delph for slagging him off earlier.
I am not going to believe anything I read again unless it is from the club.

  22. i’m chuffed to fuck that Delph is staying….but, this story about Man City is two weeks old. He has therefore had ample time to discount the rumours. Will we ever hear the truth about this saga.

Thanks for the u turn Fabian!

    1. Well Langy my mucker, let’s look at what was thrown at us? Delph to Man City news and papers, radio, TV, he’s having a medical Sat, so why don’t Villa press give us fans as to what’s gone on, not the pissing papers us.I give up on media years ago, I go by what this site turns up. I’m happy he’s stopping although he’s chalk and cheese some days.

  23. Pre-season friendly

    Latest score

    Villa 0 Fulham 1

    Sherwood out!! 😉

  24. I blame Bunn…if he cant stand the heat….. 🙂

    1. He’s on the bench, he may KNEED 45 mins to show his fitness. This lad we got from Southampton, Mason, looks quality. Gill best player on the park by a long way.
