Antonio Luna Signs for Eibar for Free

Aston Villa have canceled Antonio Luna’s contract with Aston Villa and has now signed a two-year deal with Spanish side Eibar. Luna signed for Aston Villa in 2013 for a fee of £1.5 million from Sevilla. He started his Villa career brightly by scoring in his debut in Villa’s 3-1 win against Arsenal on the first day of the season. Since that game, his performances dipped significantly and ultimately lost his starting spot to Bertrand who was brought in on loan for the remaining of the season.

Luna went out on loan to Verona last season where he struggled for game time, and eventually moved to Spezia a Serie B team for the second half of the season. Not a great loan spell in Italy. Perhaps it’s best for Luna who became known as Tony Moon among Villa fans because he clearly isn’t good enough for the Premier League and he struggled to stop many wingers. I can’t necessarily blame Luna for his time here, he just wasn’t good enough and perhaps wasn’t the best of buys by Paul Lambert.

very off topic people, I’ve just started using twitter, I’ve been told its fairly useful. My question is does anybody know some useful accounts to follow for good villa news/transfer updates, in the know people etc etc…

Also any useless ones to avoid, any suggestions would be great ta

On this post, it’s a shame for many of the lambert signings, nothing against Luna at all, will be remembered for the goal against the gooners which is already better than Helenius (shorts round the ankles moment), but he just wasn’t ever going to be good enough. Good luck to the lad.

Ya at the same time -this summer has seen the most early business for us in a while, no hanging about, lots of movement outward. I like that to be honest . I like to think its a sign of some clear pre made plans with decisive action taken to implement it.
It might also place a bit more impetus on the inward signings to be completed sooner as squad numbers drop

  2. All he best Tony Moon. 🙂

  4. It seems like we’re actually getting rid of the deadwood now,CNZ & gabby next May it continue.

    1. When he said you can go , he bloody meant it, I still want to know whose buying Villa ffs, this is dragging on and on, my only hope is that Sherwood either training what he has to a better standard, or buying better quality footballers. I’m not asking papers they know sod all. Giddy would have had that pic the day we lost at Wembley mate.

  5. Should, giddy.

Guess we can’t blame him for missing given he’s a cb

Looks like Delph is going in the next 24 hours…inevitable

  9. So Delph is off to Man Citeh. He’s expected to sign within the next 24 hours. #Judas

  10. That just proves contacts mean FUCKall, with all these clauses it’s worth just making a verbal agreement.

    1. Andrew avatar

Clause is in his contract so they clearly mean something.

      1. Can’t clubs compensate other clubs when a player has no clauses I’m sure that happens

        1. Andrew avatar

Of course they can, but players have a right to ask for a clause in their contract, Delph was given one and City activated it.

          1. Well that’s answered my previous question contracts mean FUCKall if a player is contracted to a club with 4 years remaining another club will buy him out of it.

          2. Andrew avatar

Of course they will, but he’s obligated by the contract he has to play for Villa until he leaves. Just like any job you have, you’re obligated to do your job until you leave.

was expecting him to leave if there was a release clause but still disappointed. its time villa got a few players in because our squad is getting smaller by the day.

    1. I’m sure the 8 million we get for Delph will be spent on at least 6 league 1-2 players to “improve” the squad.

I don’t only think it’s Lerner bleeding the club dry, I also reckon this and previous managers are on a right good thing to keep us up without spending. Why else would people want to manage us?

      1. I agree B6 I’m sure the manager gets a good back hander if PL survival is achieved on a poundland budget

    2. Andrew avatar

Not really all that small, we had a large squad with the amount of players out on loan which is quite unusual for us to do.

  12. Citeh are probably polishing his seat for him in the dugout as we’re discussing him.

I don’t know why (apart from me saying he’d stay) but I’m actually speechless right now. If he doesn’t want to be here he should go though – he’s taking a massive gamble with his almost guaranteed England place.

He’s replaceable – We need to replace and improve on him asap!!

  14. I personally couldn’t give a flying FUCK who leaves,if it’s somewhere they don’t want to be then fuckoff

  15. Andrew avatar

He’s definitely replaceable so not a huge deal. At least it hopefully means Clark gets the armband.

    However a Downing 2.0?

    1. What a wanker

      1. Money talks, and it exposes liars, put that down to me thinking who the fuck we got now to do his job?I’m now getting serious panic attacks that we are back to square one.are we going to be in a position again biting nails to stay in premiere league.?

        1. Yes MATE start growing your nails you’ll need em

Going for money – obviously hasn’t got a lot of common sense otherwise he would have learnt from experiences of Milner (who is a much better player IMHO), Sinclair, Richards and others. Still Citeh have another bench warmer and career to ruin. Don’t think we will miss him like we missed Stan.

  17. This will mean that the Gueye deal will soon be announced no doubt, As a sweetener! The club is a fucking joke! If a player NEEDS a clause put in his contract after the way Villa have stood by him through all of his injury problems then that should be enough to tell anyone they don’t want to stay. Should of fucked him of in January the two faced, judas prick!!

    1. Andrew avatar

So the clubs a joke, because Delph wants to leave? Okay…

      1. You must have problems understanding English. I said the club is a joke for allowing a player to have a clause inserted into his contract stating he can leave for peanuts in six months time and then allow him to make a big “I am loyal, check me out” statement to convince fans he wants to stay. No player insisting on such a clause in his contract, that can be activated only 6 months after he signed it, can be loyal.

If you think that’s how a club should treat it’s supporters then that’s your opinion, just one I don’t agree with. 🙂

        1. Andrew avatar

It was a relegation clause. We were close to being relegated before he extended. Fortunately Sherwood saved our asses but he had every right to have one put in. Obviously he wanted to look good.

          1. If it was a relegation clause then they won’t be able to activate it will they?

          2. Andrew avatar

Not really a relegation clause, but a protection buyout clause in case we got relegated. Not like he’s going for a sideways move either, one of the best sides currently in the league.

          3. Andrew it really doesn’t bother me that the lad want’s to leave to better himself, fair play to him. The gripe that I have is did the player and club need to lay it on so thick with the players statement in January KNOWING this would happen 6-7 months later? That’s my gripe. Lose the statement and all the sentimental stuff and I wouldn’t have 1 problem with him going. Blokes a two faced Judas prick. 🙂

Sorry B6, but what does that make any player who comes in from another club? They’re probably not coming for CL glory, so it’s either a step up (like moving to a top 4/6 club from Villa), or it’s more money (probably both). By your logic there’s probably a bunch of to$$ers coming our way!

Delph signed a new contract meaning the club would get recompensed for his services. He could have walked for nothing (and a big sign on fee for himself). He probably recognised the debt he owed the club, and this is an OK deal for us.

If we don’t see substantial investment this window then fair enough, but it’s not looking to me that that’s the case so I am happy to wait a bit, though it would be nice sooner rather than later

    3. woukd you have rather he’d not signed and gone on a free?

      1. I’d rather he didn’t come out with the big “I am loyal, this is my club, the club I love” statement. I couldn’t give a toss about him going, just the manner in which he done it.

        1. True, but has he not been a little loyal? Could of gonna for free and had a bigger pay packet!

Replacement has been signed, Gueye is in!

  18. i think he cost us more goals than he created, but this bollocks about he wants to be at the birth of his child, well aston villa if you wanted rid of players with a losing mentality dont piss in my pocket and tell me its raining.

  19. DSVilla avatar

Couldn’t care less if he goes. Same with Benteke. Delph at £8M is probably about right. We can buy better for the same from abroad. We just have to buy the right players to replace what’s going. eye looks the part, so does Amavi. bent eke and Delph money could buy 5 of that quality. get them in!!

Delph is City’s replacement for Milner who had to leave to get a regular starting place. It will be the same for Delph. His choice of course and I’m not bitter at all. That said I think it will prove to be a mistake.

    1. DS I’m with you, I couldn’t give a toss if he goes. What’s got my back up is the way he and the club have gone about it. To treat the fans the way they have is bang out of order. But that’s just my opinion. 🙂

DS VILLA only thing wrong with your point is the way things are going now we will loose the spine of the team and replace them with foregn players who will possibly take a season or so to gell unfortunately we dont have that luxury i for one would be worried if Delph and Benteke leave they are not easily replaced with someone of the same ilk with premiership experience i feel we could struggle big time but hopefully i am wrong the club is starting to piss me off big time now same old fucking bullshit over again

      1. DSVilla avatar
        DSVilla

Point taken Muzzvill. Quality players should be able to fit in a bit quicker though. If we take a step up in buying better players I feel we will be OK

  20. I don’t feel any anger towards Delph perhaps pity because he’ll be lucky if he averages 10 minutes per game and Hodgson won’t want him if he isn’t playing.

When he was good he was quite good but he also drifted out of games a lot so interested to see what Tim’s going to do now. Honestly think we might be able to do better.

UTV Someone call Fab a cab!

Agreed. Let’s take some affirmative action and move on. Sanchez, Gil, Gueye as a middle three – done.

Does anyone know if Kozak is taking part in preseason? It’s interesting looking at this – Vlaar, Delph, Cleverley all definitely gone – players who contributed to 17th place last year and excluding Cleverley have been instrumental in relegation dog fights for the last few seasons…….. Fuck them, and just sign better.

    1. Yes he is mate. 🙂

    2. marvin avatar

Kozak is training with the first team, yes.

  23. marvin avatar

lol – Delph …and another career stalled. If he goes to Man City, good luck to him, because he more than likely will be riding the bench. He was good last season, but had Man City not offloaded or lose some of their English talent this past year I highly doubt they would be looking at him now. He’s there to fill numbers, not improve the squad.

  24. Dave67 avatar

Let the prick go. Not good enough to play for city. He will keep their bench warm and lose his place with England . Money talks, the to faced git.
