Bournemouth – Villa; What to say?

I hate colds and while I haven’t even had one at all since the Covid period, I’ve got a cracker at the moment. Just as I’m about to start a job in a hospital on Monday. What should I do, not turn in on my first day or plod on as usual? With me being old school, I don’t do days off and will be going.

Onto more important stuff and this is yet another tough game, away to a club that’s challenging for the same aims as us. Well, not quite, as they’re seven points behind us, but immediately below us in the league.

They also don’t have current form as good as ours, with us having won four and lost one in our last five games. Meanwhile, Bournemouth have won two and drawn three. Not great, but it does indicate that they’re very difficult to actually beat. And we do need to beat them. A draw won’t be good enough, in my opinion and I know that everyone is saying that things are going to run to the last day of the season, but anything less than three points will mean it’s a step too far to achieve Euro qualification. Then again, Forest seem to have blown up, so I suppose it’s always possible we can leapfrog them.

The point is, we’re running out of time to be losing.

Team news is that Youri Tielemens is out and that’s a loss again, as he’s been excellent an an ever-present this season, which is a very decent achievement these days. It certainly shows what Unai makes of him. Rashford is also out and I don’t think we’ll see him again at Villa park. That’s okay, he’d be too expensive to buy anyway. Otherwise, the lads all in decent nick, if maybe mentally jaded.

Bournemouth’s big news is that winger Dango Ouattara is out for the rest of the season with an abducter injury. I’ve never even heard of him. Sinisterra (thigh), Ryan Christie (groin) and Enes Unal are all out too.

I’m almost scared to predict a win here. I think it’s likely, but we should remember that they turned Arsenal over on their own patch last week. A great win or have Arsenal basically given up? Who knows, but it shows anything is possible. And then I look at those three draws in their last five games, which makes me think another one is very likely.

And that’s what I’m going for. 2-2 it is then.

UTV!

I can’t believe they’re debating the Mings ‘elbow’. Players may as well have both arms surgically removed at this rate…
    Come on Villa!!!!

Bournemouth have ‘avoided’ at least two bookings – Attwell isn’t the greatest of ref’s and we don’t have a good record when he’s officiating

Why oh why is Mings being taken off? I fear the worst with this change.

If your centre half is having a good game I don’t get it at this stage. You risk Torres not tuning in to the game quick enough

Is it just me or has Emi re-found his best form?

    Attwell is a f***ing arsehole.

Typical of his reffing against Villa.

Really red – this ref is awful

And now a red! Ramsey could have avoided if he didn’t over react to the first one. Ramsey is somebody who simply hasn’t kept up with the teams evolving. Great a year or two ago, but time to cash in. That’s and early flight for him.

Marty Cash absolutely brilliant goal saving header. Referee was awful as per usual. A dogged performance by the lads and Kamara was all over the place!

Great result! But frightening – I think I would rather watch “Alien” than overtime in Villa games. Once again Bournemouth have the chance to equalize with the last touch and somehow Cash heads it over from underneath the bar.

I think Cash is underrated and unfairly criticised by a section of Villa fans.

Watkins 16 goals – yes he’s missed a lot but he seems to come up with the goods. Challenged by Duran and Rashford and seen both of them off.

No way should we sell him; he epitomises all that is Villa.

Don’t laugh but I fancy Leicester tomorrow!

What result do we want between Newcastle and Chelsea – draw?

Can’t really decide Hitch. The big issue is our goal difference and on that basis it’s who of Newcastle and Chelsea will win both of their games left after tomorrow. Maybe Newcastle then. Of course if City couldn’t beat Southampton why should they beat Bournemouth or Fulham? Its a nightmare!!

    NEWCASTLE V CHELSEA DRAW

    BOURNEMOUTH V MAN CTY DRAW

    FOREST V CHELSEA DRAW

    ARSENAL V NEWCASTLE DRAW

IF WE WIN BOTH OUR GAMES WE MAKE IT

in fact we want all our competitors to draw in every game

and spurs to beat united in the final, not that i want spurs to win but keep united down where they belong

Gonna be keeping an eye on the games today, that’s for sure.
It reminds me of us clawing our way to top 4 last year…we used every scrap of reserves…ManU and Spurs won’t give a damn about their league placings. Amorim has already been very clear about that. Ange too…he wants to save his reputation.
