Garde out, Yorke in? perhaps not.

God, you’re lucky.
Not only do you support the finest club in the world, but you get to read my thoughts two days running!

Ok, forget that; I’m just in a daft mood at this stupid time of the day, where I’m about to go to bed.

So I saw this article where Dwight Yorke says “sack Garde and appoint me”.

I thought it was just a re-hash of what he’d said a few months ago, but it seems he’s quoted as mentioning nine games to go, so it might be relevant.

So bearing in mind that it might be a bit of creative journalism and I’d never consider Yorke as a Villa manager just yet, there is a certain point that struck home with me;

“You need more than that, somebody who understands the football club, who gets more out of the players and Remi Garde hasn’t been able to do that. Every interview he’s done, there’s no positiveness coming out of it – at least show some fighting spirit with nine games to go.”

And Yorke does have a point doesn’t he, when you look at it like that?

Garde definitely seems to have been playing things down, although I can’t say I blame him, given our position and the fact that he’s been stitched up.

And yes, Garde has been trying to play things up, to a certain extent, if you want to look at it the other way.
He’s still being quoted as saying we can beat the Swans and stay up on the OS.
But his comments haven’t convinced anyone, have they? And we all know that you have to read underneath to see what he actually means.

This is pretty much a throwaway post, as I don’t think Yorke coming in with an upbeat mood would have changed much.
But perhaps you might think otherwise?

Any manager thinking of coming to VP next season will have one prior question to the board. “How many of the current squad have to be retained?” the answer they will hope to hear is “None, you can sack the lot.” However that is unlikely.

Really the difficulty of the job increases if most of the current players hang around. In that case only a kick-ass manager in the Pulis, Warnock and Alladyce mould will suffice.

However if the manager can start with a clean sheet that would also give Remi Garde a chance. I am not convinced by him – but I think it is about time the club stopped treating managers shabbily. If they will give a manager carte blanche then Remi should be offered it.

Think Remi probably deserves a chance just based on how he’s handled this shit storm of a season with a bit of dignity.

The real question is does he want to stay? Lyon seem to want him back and so he has the opportunity to go back to France and draw a line under what must be a horrible time for him.

Still think Rowett is the best choice…if we could get him that is.

If the noses end up in the play off places (only 4 points off the pace) they might even wave to us as they pass us on the way up to the Prem.

Now that would just cap a truly awful season.

The board have one easy and two massive decisions to make which will determine the future if the club (I exclude removing Lerner from that equation
    🙂 )

    1 – sack Riley – no brainer
2 – appoint the right manager and give him funds and support to do a proper job
3 appoint a top class and football experienced CEO

Last two easy to say ………

    totally agree H60

whoever the manager for next season is, they will have to remove players that have grown roots, some players are too comfy, giving the odd decent performance every blue moon. lacking quality in every department and effort too

list of these players is endless. what worries me if gardes leaves, new manager will not have been let down by these players and give some clean slates. i don’t like pointing fingers at wastes of spaces. but Gil is a massive under achiever. never creates chances and never really scores enough to be a creative player.

today game at swansea, would be winnable if players gave 100% effort and played like lions leaving nothing on the pitch. our player are damaged goods, faulty at best.

Just read Hollis statement on OS. Says all the right things but the proof of the pudding!

He’s right though the fans have to support what he is trying to do and give it time to work. The other interesting point he implies is what all the fans have being saying for some time – the club was primarily being run on a financial not a football model and his statement suggests that is about to change.

    We will see.

Guzan Hutton Clark. That is all that needs to be read. That combination has not won a league match this season., I am not sure if they have achieved a draw either. On the other hand they have personal responsibilities for most of the goals that cost us points – the Bin-dippers rout excepted.

i also think this is the strongest team hes got. its not miles away from what i would pick. thats only proves what a shit squad we have

I know Nath, I saw the line up too. I just cant believe Garde is playing it again. We have nothing to lose anymore so why are Westwood, Veretout, etc all starting. They have done nothing to justify their places.

its obvious, he doesn’t want to throw in the youth, they are playing midweek in their league. he has some them training with the 1st team. the game at swansea could get nasty and he is protecting um. i think this game is there for the taking. but like you the team playing hasnt performed all season.

iam gonna put my balls on the line and say 2 1 villa. swansea are poor, i think they will struggle. but we can’t gift um anything

looking at the line up, you have gestede up front but where is the supply. he needs crosses all season they haven’t put in any decent crosses.its not rocket science you have a threat up front in the air. swansea struggle with corners freekicks and high balls. GET IT IN THERE we will doubt it

0-0 at half time. Now there’s a surprise. Obviously Guzan is leaving his mistakes for the second half.

I find I just don’t care anymore. Roll on 15th May 17:00. All the misery will be over…

…until we start in the Championship that is.

Hope to God we see some meaningful action during the close season or we could be in deep trouble.

I can’t remember the last time there was so little interest in a match.
On planning for next season, does anyone seriously believe anything will change with Mr Dickface still owning the club????? If this leopard was ready to change his spots, then he’d have done it during this most important of seasons…
