Villa – West Ham; We need 3 points, simple.

We can beat these, can’t we?
Can’t we?

I’m not so sure myself, but it seems many Villa fans are pretty confident, which is fair enough.
There has been much comment about how we need to win our next three games if we’re to have any chance of survival and although that seems a massive ask, we really do need to put some points on the board.

Looking at the form table, West ham haven’t won at all in their last six, but by the same token they’ve only lost one, having drawn five. Which of course means they’re hard to beat.
They don’t concede many either if you take their 4-1 drubbing at White Hart Lane out of the equation and that game apart, they’ve only conceded two goals against some stiff opposition.

Which is where I suspect we’re going to find things tough today.
If you assume we’re probably going to concede a goal, we’re going to have to score two to actually win the game.
I know I’m stating the obvious, but given our enduring lack of penetration in the final third, how likely is it that it’s going to happen against a good defensive side?
I don’t know is the simple answer, but the fact is we have to make it happen somehow.

If we don’t, I think even the most positive of us will have to start conceding that it’s all over; a position that many of us have already reached.
As for me, I think I’m still in a state of disbelief or even self-denial if you like.
But it’s beginning to dawn on me that if we don’t get the result today, we’ve simply had it.

Squad news then and West Ham have Diafra Sakho, Victor Moses, Winston Reid and Dimitri Payet all out.
Andy Carroll might make it, but is doubtful and it’s too soon for Manuel Lanzini, who have both had thigh problems.

The Villa are in pretty good shape, but have Micah Richards out again for his fourth consecutive game.
Joe Bennett and Aly Cissokho have been recalled, but can’t play until January.

So where’s this one going to go?
Garde was criticised last week for not going for it against Newcastle, but I can understand his thinking.
This week however, if we’re in a similar position, we really are going to have to attempt to win the game.
We have to get the three points, no ifs, no buts.

Looking at West Ham’s form, I’d suggest this has 0-0 or 1-1 written all over it.
But that isn’t going to be good enough and that same form suggests there will be a change, meaning one of the teams is going to get the three points.

Let’s hope it’s us.

  1. As Mersin says we have to win draws are no good sky sports laughing again at our team sheet

    1. So what’s changed – we might be poor but the least the pundits can do is show a bit of respect for the fans if nothing else. Bet they don’t laugh at Sunderland or the bar codes – wonder why?

Having said that I don’t really care a toss what Merson and his cronies think or say UTV

    2. I think team looks good on paper today though would play Gestede. We will win today no doubt about it Norwich are in free fall trust me 🙂

    1. We are going to win today 2.0 got a really good feeling. Ooh ah has spoken 🙂

      1. Predicted 1-0 to us with Gestede scoring a flukey goal with his bum. Real bummer that he’s not starting 🙂

  2. Giddy
Spot on remi come out and say hard luck at least Sherwood won few games when he came in
One sky lads said remi doesn’t look like manager who can lift players
Definitely no good for championship no point wasting more money may get rid now get someone in to build for championship trust villa to get crap foreign manager

      1. No it isn’t his fault he has inherited a pile of shite. But it is his fault he continues to overlook the better players and persist with his favorites who have yet to win under him.

        1. No one knows if Traore is better heels only had a few mins here and there can he sustain it

          1. The way to find out wether he can sustain it is to play him, Admit it, Garde is no better than Mcleash, Lambert or Sherwood. At least they did win the odd game after 7 attempts, Stats don’t lie oohah.

          2. Garde is no better than Mcleash, Lambert or Sherwood. At least they managed to win a game unlike Garde who without doubt is bottling it by not going for it in games. He set a target of 8 points from our Xmas games, we will be lucky to get 2!!!

            Negative prick

  3. What a depressing line-up. Keiran Richardson!! Fuck me! Garde use Traore ffs. Play the team around him don’t ask him to defend that much just keep him up top and just sitting off striker so when we break get it to his feet and let the magic happen! We try the same shit tactics every week and it’s not working!

  4. Oohah said Villa to win 1-0……but this will take to very significant things to happen……a clean sheet and a goal…..HELP……

  5. Dont agree Billy Boots, he had the chance to do something about all this had he not fell out with other managers on thier choice. And demanding games on the cheap.

  6. Garde could be setting a new record soon. Longest amount of games without a win for a new manager.

      1. Sinclair doing his normal shit performance. Starts of well for 20 mins and dies a death. May as well put traore and Gestede on now go all out attack if we concede another it won’t make any difference

  7. Why haven’t we had “new manager syndrome”? Even Sunderland have won a couple since Big Sam has been there. Would love to see Lerners face when we go down,

  8. Forget the goalie bread and butter….2 bread and butter open goals and we cant score again.

  9. He worse than doctor Joe traore not had 60 mins all season joke shame on all villa fans who give money to Lerner’s regime

  10. Garde is a complete nob, all that attacking talent and a chance to give the fans something and he bottles it, got no chance under this prick, rather give ooh ah the job, or paul McGrath!!!!

  11. I think it comes to something when my mates can’t even be bothered to take the piss out of villa any more – we are, and always have been a soft touch for sides to play against.

A point will simply not do today – switch it up and go for it. Go three at the back, keep three in midfield and get some width (Traore / Grealish) for Gestede and Ayew to feed off. Fucking simple.

    1. Aha, no changes at half time…..cracking decision that. Losing any sort of interest.

    1. I blame Badger for this, all this overtime he’s doing and missing all this crap.even I want to go to work been retired -12 years. I hate Saturday’s.
