Villa sign Carles Gil according to Sky sports Spanish expert.

So, it would appear we’ve signed the attacking midfielder that Lambert said he wanted to get in before the Liverpool game.
He’s from Valencia, he’s aged 22 and has apparently signed a five year contract, with the fee being around four million euros.

The only concern for me is that he struggled to get back in the Valencia side after being out on loan at Elche (Sanchez’s previous club).
It strikes me that given the low price, it’s possibly just another punt, but if he turns out to be as good as Sanchez, it’ll be a case of fair play to Lambert.
That said, I can hardly see him being worse than Cleverley or Richardson, can you?

This is definitely a position that needed sorting and I hope this player is the answer.

So, if the story proves to be true, I’d like to say “Welcome, Carles”.

there seems to be talk about januzaj being loaned and hes 5/2 end up at villa. but on utds website they say the cleverley loan deals stands in the way. unless villa make the cleverley deal permanent or send him back.

now we all seen enough of cleverley to send him back packing, januzaj could be just the tonic in place of gabby or wiemann, sanchez westwoods bacuna delph we have enough cover for centre mids

Januzaj would never be permanently signed, so why not on loan? Be better than wasting money on Sinclair and give us to the summer to find an out and out winger to permanently sign.

Because I’m sick of us being a finishing school for sky 4 teams. It smacks of small club mentality and frankly is humiliating for a club of our stature.

But you liked Liverpool for the title last season and they loaned… Moses from Chelsea, another Sky 4 team. Loans are the furthest thing from a small club mentality, Valencoa have a fair few loans, and they’d crush us 10-0 if we ever played them. If it gives us time to find the right winger under a possible director of football, than there should never be a problem with loans. Everton have loans, etc. It’s a huge market we should be looking into more often than we do.

It sticks in my crawl. I don’t mind a loan of a decent player we will realistically signed. Moses was a bit part player only that was never wanted by chelsea anyway.

And who knows if Januzaj is wanted by United anymore. Van Gaal would rather spend hundred’s of millions instead. While we don’t have a chance of signing him, especially as there would be so many clubs wanting him (unless we could somehow make him love the club), he’d still be incredibly helpful for 5 months.

We need to replace Agbonlahor, Weimann, nZogbia and one of Cleverley and Westwood. Gil had better be good to do that!

Thats one position filled….Now 2 proper wingers please. Cissokho getting roasted week in week out, (even Albrighton tied him up in knots Saturday) shows how important it can be to have width!!

So we are signing a youngster from a foreign league to be our creative saviour now we are in the shit.
It is one gamble after another.
On another note Lambert in the mail today said he took Sanchez off to allow Leicester to come out and play. Doesn’t he watch the bloody game it was leicester doing all the attacking.
    Unbelievable.
His comments are purely self preservetion and the sad thing is Lerner and now Fox are suckers for it.

Steve, I have seen this Gil lad play both at Elche and Valencia, and he looks very good and a fantastic prospect… My big concerns are that Lambert will not have the balls to play him, and with his awful tactics his confidence will get shattered…or get injured in training.

I don’t have the answers as to who we should get in to replace him, but Lamberts time is now surely up, we have an ok mid table team, but this mans is failing and now appears desperate.

I think Lambert brainwashed Lerner a few years back.
Lerner believes everything that comes out of his mouth.
His comment about “expectancy outweighing realism” is disgusting.
Our expectancy level has never been so low – certainly since he has been in charge.
Is it wrong to expect our team to have scored more than 11 league goals at this stage of the season?
      What a disgrace he is.

with you there Gareth, he is trying to say we expect too much – what a tosser… We expect half decent football and to be mid table… not champions league…. the arrogance of the man makes my blood boil!

Why not have Lowton on the right wing. It’s obvious he isnt the best right back but he’s probably our best crosser of the ball to be fair. He’s put plenty on a plate for Tekkers something our midfield have failed to do much of lately.

i am with you there adam i also think we missed a trick with bennet on the other wing with those two you wouldn’t need two defensive centre midfielders to protect the defense
