Villa – Newcastle; Let proceeds commence!

Hooray, the new season starts today. I’ll be watching the Liverpool-Bournemouth game tonight, but more with a passing interest, while I wait for what could be a great game against Newcastle tomorrow.

Then again, it might prove to be a total damp squib, as many first games tend to look similar to pre-season friendlies, where both teams can be poor.
The thought of a Villa-Newcastle fixture though, is always one I look forward to, as it does tend to produce something, even if it was our first game 5-1 tonking against them two seasons back.

So what do we know about our squad?
First off is that Morgan Rogers will be available, as he’s been training since the early part of the week. That’s great news for me as he’s exactly the sort of player I like, the sort who runs at defenders and terrifies them.
On the downside, Ross Barkley and Andres Garcia are out. I’m not sure how much of a loss that is, to be honest, as it seems Emery isn’t keen on Garcia and Barkley, as much as he’s done okay, isn’t really a mainstay anyway.
Should we be concerned that Emi Martinez is suspended for this game after he blocked a goalscoring chance in that infamous Man U final game of last season? Given there was much talk of him leaving in this window, maybe not so much, as Bizot seems to be at least a reasonable backup goalie.
And then of course, it seems a deal for Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle has been done and dusted, but for some reason it hasn’t been announced yet. I don’t understand why. Do they think the fans will be upset by such last minute news? Maybe, but he was always one to go and it’s been spoken about for a while now, so it’s not like it’s a surprise. We need the money, simple.
Anyway, there’s no chance he will be playing for either side.

As for Newcastle, well the good news there is that Alexander Isak most likely won’t be playing after basically saying he won’t play for Newcastle again. I’ve seen stories that the chances of him staying at the club are increasing, but I wouldn’t bank on it. The club won’t want a seriously unhappy player and they will agree a deal with Liverpool for him. Is he the best striker in the world at the moment? Possibly.
The only player not available for them is Joe Willock.
New signing Malick Thiaw is available and might get a runout, but he’s only been there for two days.

And then, what to think?

Well, we have a really good record at home against them recently. Much better than I had in my head and apparently we’ve beaten them in five out of the last six times we’ve played them at Villa Park.
Which has actually changed my thinking a bit.
I was going to take the easy option and predict a 2-2 draw.

But now I’m inclined to think that we can win this. The bookies have us as slight favourites too, which surprises me.
Mind you, with the serious threat of Isak being out, our chances are definitely improved.

It’s got to be 2-1 to the Villa.

UTV!

  1. Just read an article highlighting that Unai never hooks Morgan, even when he’s poor. His stats were abysmal yesterday. Unai needs to be careful. I believe one of the many reasons JJ was unhappy was because Unai favoured Rogers, who was brought in as his replacement when he kept getting injured. But now you’ve got an in form Malen, already wounded after the CL snub, getting 5 minutes here and there. Not to mention a ever lively Buendia and a new signing. How long before these valuable players become disillusioned?
Ollie got subbed for Duran every game last year, and it helped the team, as Jhon invariably made THE difference. Why not the same equation with Rogers and Malen, for example? The dressing room simply can’t have the feeling, even a niggling one, that the manager has one rule for everyone except one player, especially when he was as poor as yesterday. Thoughts?

There have been rumblings that he has favourites – I’m sure he’d argue otherwise and that he has to make decisions he thinks are best for the team / club in any given game.

Do fans of other clubs have the same concerns / issues about their manager – probably!

Was it McGinn joking recently about Pau is the boss’s favourite and can’t get dropped!
Bit disappointing yesterday, but it’s early. Saw Konsa’s foul. Silly but Gordon made the most of it…Both side a bit rusty. Shearer claiming they battered us first half. Is Shearer a Geordie? 🤣🤣🤣

Hitch funny thing is I looked at the menu today and £ 70 for a 4 Corse made me think, so I settled for fish and chips large cod £22, think I’m getting tight regards food bills. But booked for a meal Wednesday better be good or Rick Stein off the menue next time, seems I’ve got some that think Rodgers needs to shape up, yes he’s the ability to go forward but lacks the time to pass. Still early days .

There seems to be a gulf in Baileys reported salary – is it £6.25m (c.£120k per week) or nearer £65k per week?

Whichever it is I can see why Villa are happy to take a £1.75m loan fee if they get the majority of Baileys wages of the book.

Whether or not Roma buy him next season is irrelevant in the context of EUFA SCR cost limitations.

Rogers strikes me as the type of forward who would play well with a conventional target-man. It is quite difficult to play alongside Watkins who never seems to shout anything to colleagues. When Watkins get the ball the only thing you know is he is unlikely to hold on to it – he will go for goal himself or cut it back from the goal-line – but where?
Since we had no wingers v Newcastle, driving down the middle was the best tactic, but Rogers was very poor at doing that. Onana should be doing that also but he flopped yesterday as he seems to when Villa are under pressure.

  5. “I’m Jacob Ramsey…I’m Newcastle United.” Bollocks. Why do players have to make stupid pre-prepared statements when they sign for a club? Why can’t they just speak honestly? “I wasn’t getting enough game time so decided I needed a change” would suffice.

    1. OLL again avatar
      OLL again

Actually BFR Birmingham Lies carried a long piece addressed to all at Villa by Ramsey and his comment to Newcastle fans that the barcodes were always difficult opponents so he is looking forward to seeing future matches from the other side.
Maybe JJ did not want to leave. He is being sold because AVFC need the money, and they have cover on the left for JJs position.

  6. Also, Tyrone stating on his X that we “don’t know the half of it” doesn’t help. Don’t the fans deserve to know then? No good saying no negative comments allowed if you’re not going to give people the full story. That, combined with Ramsey’s comments on signing for them, shows contempt for fans, in my opinion. Oh, so you want our cash and vocal support, but we’re not meant to know the half of it and have to swallow bullshit statements from home-grown players who’ve defected? It’s crap, isn’t it?

    1. Hitchens60 avatar
      Hitchens60

The real issue here BFR that innuendo and suggestive comments just gives rise to speculation and rumour but, I agree, in such circumstances wouldn’t it be better just to tell the whole story?

However, given the litigious and woke age we now live in ‘telling it how it is’ is no longer an option.

      1. Can an opinion or perception be libellous?

        1. No doubt, these days, Ron.

        2. Bum Bum avatar

Ask Keir Starmer. In today’s UK, then yes!

      2. Telling it how it is…how refreshing would that be?

    2. What was the context of that statement Ron?
With regards to JR and his transfer or feelings generally of the squad?

      1. The context of Mings’ statement was that no negative comments on Ramsey’s departure – or more specifically Ramsey – are allowed (from fans), as we “don’t know the half of it.” I’m a fan of Tyrone’s but that’s insulting, from a fan’s perspective. Adding insult to injury are Ramsey’s comments about how great Newcastle are. Utter bollocks.

        1. There are exceptions (as in York to Man U) but as a rule players moving on is simply the way of things but that has many possible interpretations.
My perception but I don’t see that being levelled towards the fans, more a behind the scenes thing but who knows?

          1. Bum Bum avatar

Yeah. Players always have to come out with that bullshit when they join a new club to please twats like us!
I think JJ was sacrificed at the altar of PSR. Shame.
Plus the truth of it is, he had become an impact player since returning from injury rather than first 11.
Even more nonsense doing the rounds on NewsNow. Wonder if any of it will come true?

    3. “Don’t wanna hear any bad words or anything negative on his name. You don’t know the half.”
      Ouch!

  7. Wow, this is getting messy quick! I personally feel for the most that fans understand why this has happened and again I believe if somebody had to go Ramsey makes most sense. As for his comments arriving in Newcastle, Jacob has given a heartfelt goodbye and the classic media jargon for his new club.
Problem is now, it feels like we might be loosing some cohesion between fans and players. I hope I’m wrong.

    1. Reading between the lines it appears JJ may not have wanted away but (and this is pure speculation) was pushed out in order to facilitate Asensio’s return?
      Watch this space.

      1. Badger123 avatar
        Badger123

Close, but I think he was pushed out so we could continue to keep doing business and Asensio was just a part of that.
Mings would have done better to keep his trap shut, although I suspect his comment actually sides with the fans, with him thinking “it’s all about the money”

If Ramsey hadn’t gone and we’d done no business whatsoever, I suspect the natives would be even more angry. Things have to keep evolving and the blame still has to lie with these ridiculous financial rules that have put us in this position.

        1. The necessity for Villa to sell Ramsey – along with other first-team players like Douglas Luiz, Jhon Duran, Moussa Diaby in recent transfer windows – is indicative of the current state of football and the regulations clubs are required to stay within, REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINANCIAL CAPABILITIES or AMBITIONS.

      That’s classy from JJ.

RSS – my perception is that at least one decent sale was needed to help (primarily?) with the EUFA SCR rules and being able to register any new player in List A for the Europa League – not specifically to allow the signing of Asensio.

However what this demonstrates beyond any argument is that PSR rules are not fit for purpose if clubs are forced into all sorts of financial manoeuvres including selling their academy players to satisfy them. A combination of pigheadedness by the EPL and the cabal of clubs dedicated to stopping any of the ambitious clubs with wealthy and responsible owners (like Newcastle and Villa) from challenging the ‘old money’ means that these poorly thought out regulations will continue.

      1. It’s disgusting, Hitch. Or totally f***** up – whichever phrase you prefer. I prefer the latter, for what it’s worth.

      2. All no doubt spot on Hitch, all done to balance the books but top and tail of it appears to be JJ didn’t want away.

        1. Is there any point to football anymore? Why don’t the Saudi’s of Newcastle, our owners, and Marinakis team up and take the likes of the PL and UEFA to court? Surely, there has to be something in business law to at least suggest that this is all wrong? Something in the category of fair competition, monopolies etc? Someone’s got to do something, at the very least to fire a warning shot? But at best to force through (painfully, no doubt) lasting change that allows all clubs to compete? Apparently the legal team City assembled to defend themselves was a monster, which is probably why we’ll be waiting forever for that verdict… If they can do it, why can’t the rest of us?

I still struggle to see how it’s not a “restriction of trade” which is big time frowned upon in Europe??

            1. Thank you, Badger. So why not do something about it? Those who have the power to do so? Would it be so different in magnitude to the Bosman ruling, which sent shockwaves through football not so long ago. Someone has to show some leadership. And big balls…

We have to remember that the rules are voted for by the prem clubs themselves.
While I think there’s a strong basis in law, the tendency is always going to be “what’s the problem? You voted for it, so vote it out if it’s a major issue”
And of course, we’d lose on those grounds, because the big clubs don’t want us to compete and the smaller clubs don’t want us running away from them.

                I don’t see things changing.

              2. Hitchens60 avatar
                Hitchens60

I agree to a point Badger.

So far any changes to PSR have been promoted by (at least) one club which are then voted down by the majority for the reasons you cite.

It’s my view that it’s for the EPL take a lead on this and recognise that PSR in its present form is not fit for purpose and actually damages the competitiveness within the league.

If the EPL were to put forward and recommend acceptance of changes to the rules (such as resetting the three year loss to recognise inflation over the period since it was first introduced) then it would be supported by a majority and failure to do so might then be seen as a restriction of trade.

The other point is that not all the ‘protected’ clubs support PSR in its present form – Citeh for instance have been quite clear that they support more competition.

The real problem is the cabal that only care about staying in the Prem and have no interest in changing anything!

Returning to the match for a moment. Since Villa improved after the break why were they so poor in the first half? Howe employed his usual well thought tactics. If an opponent on the ball is a good passer they try to tackle him rather than cut out his pass, but if the opponent isn’t a good passer they stand off him but try to intercept his pass. Bournemouth did that, now Newcastle. As a counter measure – running with the ball and one-touch passing work best. I don’t think Newcastle did anything to surprise Unai, except pick Gordon as the stand-in CF. Villa could have used a winger in place of Onana, or McGinn.

Finally the high-line flaw again. If the oppos forwards are faster than Villa’s defenders the back four need to play deeper. Basic. Forced on Villa when Kamara dropped back because he has no pretension to speed, and we were comfortable with it.

    1. Badger123 avatar
      Badger123

      That’s a good point.
After Konsa’s sending off, I noticed that we did actually look quite solid at the back.
Or at least not as weak as I expected us to be.
Or is that just an indicator that Newcastle weren’t really any great shakes and weren’t as good as the stats made them look?

Just goes to show, if any club loses a world class striker, they’re going to struggle in comparison.

  9. Hitchens60 avatar

Bailey to Roma looks like a done deal. I just hope they’re paying the majority of his wages under the loan agreement otherwise it’s not a great one for Villa

  10. Badger123 avatar
    Badger123

It’s beginning to look like we’re desperate to just get the wages off the books.

Something seems wrong here if we’re not demanding fees or at least compulsory buy prices.

As I said, it smacks of desperation. I suspect there’s a signing in the air and it’s not Asensio.
Jackson, perhaps? Or someone totally under the radar.

    1. Hitchens60 avatar
      Hitchens60

I’m very dubious about the Jackson links – only if it’s a loan as Chelsea are asking £80m – or so it’s rumoured. And then there are wages to be considered which is probably the bigger issue so Chelsea would need to shoulder a significant %.

I agree with Texas that a deal for Asensio looks highly likely.

Another sale being mooted is Lewis Dobbin who, it appears, is wanted by a number of clubs in the Championship. We paid £9m for him so would need a fee in excess of that to show a small profit.

Dendonker it seems is going on a free to Oviedo which would free up his wages rumoured to be £90k a week which, if true, just shows how badly the club was managed before NSWE; it’s this historic overspending that we’re still trying to clear off the books under PSR.

      1. Badger123 avatar
        Badger123

Oh Asensio, is a definitite, but I’m looking at someone else, Hitch. Not a clue who.

      2. Hitch, it WAS NSWE. They just gave Purslow and Gerrard to much rope on summer.

  11. Texas Villan avatar
    Texas Villan

Asensio seems like done deal – price and wage agreed (13m, 3 year contract). I think that’ll happen. Jackson also back on the radar but how much of that is agent talk – not sure, but it does keep reappearing. He fits the profile of player who can play multiple positions. I feel certain we’ll sign a defender too.

    1. 13 million? Three years. Money down the shitter. Hope I’m wrong…

  12. Unai Emery’s side are now bound by a strict three-year settlement with Uefa, which means that “any £100m in incoming transfers must be matched by at least £100m in outgoing sales”
    Kieran Maguire (football finanace expert)

Is this true??? WTF???! So they’ve basically put the club in a financial straightjacket to choke the life out of any progress?

    1. Hitchens60 avatar
      Hitchens60

My understanding is that transfer dealings this summer must be positive that includes cost of wages as well as fees. If overall they are a negative cost then we cannot include any new signings in our List A registered players for the Europa League. Additionally we have to reduce our wage bill to 70% of revenue over the next three years.

I assume that the cost of incoming transfers can be amortised in the normal way so selling Ramsey gives us wriggle room as does getting wages off the bill i.e. Bailey on loan should be costed as £1.7m plus wages in the above calculation. Dendoncker leaving should also be a positive transfer ‘cost’ by losing his wages at (reportedly) £90k per week etc. etc.

The only bit I’m not 100% sure on is the amortisation of the cost of buying players but as EUFA allow this generally I would expect it to be the case.

  13. Bill Pearson avatar
    Bill Pearson

With that agreement you might as well buy sod all BFR. Someone please tell me how the f; k has Man City, Arsenal, Untd, Chelsea, got away with what they’ve done and had. Aston Villa been attacked by refs, FA, and now EUFA, think its time to say get stuffed when you deal with them we’ll fall in line.

  14. Hitchens60 avatar
    Hitchens60

I’ve read a summary of the agreement and it’s complex dealing with penalties for non compliance (which all appear to be financial) etc. so haven’t included a link. It only refers to Villa’s participation in European Competitions and is completely separate from PSR. I’m happy to include the link if anyone is suffering from insomnia 🙂

It does indeed place strict financial controls on Villa which will require them to be more savvy but not to the extent of a ‘straight jacket’. As NSWE (and I assume Emery) have signed up to it, one must presume they can work within it.

Simply put, apart from reducing the wage % to 80% this year and 70% over the next three years (which is a compromise from EUFA against their current rules), ‘the transfer balance of List A players registered (at the registration date for the appropriate competition) must be positive’ – so Villa will have to calculate how to manage that.

What’s not clear is whether outgoings like Dendonker can be included (Ramsey and Bailey can because they were Registered List A for the CL). What I haven’t been able to find is the definition of ‘costs’ in regard to List A.

Bill the real issue is the significant difference between revenue of the clubs you mention and that of Villa. NSWE want to bridge this with shareholder investment which is essentially funding losses; neither PSR nor EUFA allow this to the extent NSWE would like to invest (exactly the same problem for Newcastle).

    I’ll keep digging.

  15. My son (sadly) is a Liverpool fan and I took him to watch the friendlies v bilbao a few weeks back. The number of people stood in endless queues holding a brand new kit for all four of their kids at £125 each was unreal. The hospitality was crammed to the point it was worse than standard seats. That was one shop I witnessed, these queues would be world wide for a team like Liverpool. As big as Villa are, I don’t think you can imagine the gulf in revenue and sadly I think United, Chelsea, Arsenal have the same global following, somehow spurs seem to be tagging onto this group and city could spend in the last 15 years and have by brute force got themselves in their exactly the way Villa and Newcastle would like to have. Global following is the difference and that’s that!
The run we had in the champions league and successive European qualifications will help but I think it’s going to take 10 years of getting this crap right with ffp, playing well and regular European qualification that will allow us to spend a bit more freely. My fear is Villa will have its bubble burst, owners will loose interest , players , fans and everyone else in between, then they will change the FFeffinP rules!

    1. See Chumbawamba has been told he can find a new club, what a crazy bit of business that was – £20m transfer fee, around £15.6 in wages and a grand total of 47 appearances (around £760K per match).

We put too much resource into trying to win the thing.
I said so at the time, but while it was admirable, it’s left us where we are.

In a Euro competition nobody cares about, revenue slaughtered when we can’t spend and setback at least a season.
And that’s if we qualify this year, which I don’t think we will.

          1. It was that, Badger. That and only than. Despite a difficult autumn and winter, largely due the exertions of Europe combined with horrendous injuries, Unai and the squad went on a magnificent, almost flawless run in the spring, fighting on three fronts, to put themselves in contention for top 5 on the final day; no one can ask for more than that. When followed was the biggest screw job in football history:
            1. Send their goalie off: check.
            2. Deny them a perfectly good goal at 0-0. Check.
            3. Eliminate the possibility of VAR showing the goal was good. Check.
            4. Give the opposition and free penalty that is beyond laughable when viewing the replays, which they did. Check.

We needed a point. The performance was irrelevant. We would have got the point had it not been for the ‘officiating’. That point has cost us beyond imagination, as we’re now seeing. That’s why I said at the time, sue them. At least for the lost revenue that they could have used. But we didn’t.
And anyone bringing up Sheffield United and goal-line technology can do one; it’s a separate issue entirely.
            Rant over. Pissed off.

It staggers me that business’s (which all football clubs are) put up with these anti competition rules and unfair business practises.

And that all the clubs who seek to break into the cabal of the so called sky 6 and top European clubs have not got together to sue the premiership and UEFA and FIFA etc for all these rules.

if these were not football clubs just high street businesses would they put up with this shi te, I think not

After all if we want to risk going bust in order to get to the top that surely is our business, not someone else’s concern

and to honest if this is now the face of football, let them have there super league so we can have a fair and completive English football league, because playing year after with little chance of silverware is not what we should have to put up with as fans, and that goes for every club in the English pyramid except for the sky 6.

In geek mode I had a quick look at EUFA’s disciplinary summary which includes inter alia Chelsea, Villa and Barcelona! I also had a peruse of their financial regs as related to SCR (and by implication the sanction covering the requirement for Villa to have a positive transactional value re List A).

As I’m not an accountant I’m open to correction (if anyone else fancies reading them 🙂 ) but it seems to me that 100% of sales revenue accrues (less any outstanding debt etc.) and the transfer fee of an acquired player can be amortised over the period of contract. Similarly players financial benefits saved through sales can be balanced against those paid to an incoming player.

The overall SCR has to include inter alia benefits payable to the Head Coach as well as agents fees etc.

As you can imagine the above are very broad summaries – I can see why NS said ‘football is now all about bean counters not the game itself’!

That’s me finished on finances 🙂

    sorry never saw the previous

but for those of us born in the 20th century what football has become in the 21st century is just scripted for tv to make money bull****

and i refer back to my last paragraph

“and to honest if this is now the face of football, let them have there super league so we can have a fair and completive English football league, because playing year after with little chance of silverware is not what we should have to put up with as fans, and that goes for every club in the English pyramid except for the sky 6.”

I agree with you TGV – the issue is, of course, they’ve got their ‘Super League’ through the back door, just called the Champions League.

You’re also right, with the financial restrictions now in place it’s going to be the domain of the rich clubs who can acquire all the best players. Other teams in the competition will be there to pay lip service to EUFA and the elite.

And as a result these rich and powerful teams will just continue to dominate the domestic leagues.

It needs a change in the financial regulations to recognise that many wealthy owners are coming into the game and want the ability to invest – that’s how we can get a competitive EPL and EUFA competitions – but will it ever happen?

      1. It will if said ‘wealthy owners’ put their heads together and do something. Coalition of the willing? Oh wait, where have I heard that…
Seriously, Marinakis, the Saudis, and NSWE would be a force to be reckoned with. Put some capes and masks on them…oh bollocks, this is getting stupid.

        1. Hitchens60 avatar
          Hitchens60

I’ve had a look at the issues around a group of wealthy disenfranchised owners legally challenging the EPL / EUFA – but remember I’m not a lawyer or accountant.

As I see it, the reason EPL / EUFA can impose financial regulations which appear to be contrary to normal business practice and company law is simply because to play in the EPL / EUFA Competitions the club needs to have a licence from those bodies,

The financial regulations form part of terms under which the licence is issued so, as I see it, the only legal challenge that might be made is unfair contract terms of the licence – good luck with that.

Of course clubs are, in the main, private limited companies so they are separately subject to company law and the rules around insolvency.

Basically the licence regulations protects the wealthiest clubs and prevents any other club challenging them – I dread to think about what transpires once the UK Government get involved through the appointment of a Regulator and one is bound to ask why the hell do we need one?

    2. Mate, I agree. It’s a very sad state of affairs. Scratch the surface of the shiny machine that is the Premier League, and there’s no substance whatsoever; it’s practically a hologram. Your ‘scripted for TV’ point reminds me of WWE; yes he slammed him into the canvas – that was real, but it was in the script; yes, he scored a lovely goal – that was real, but it was in the script. Surely, we’re not there yet are we?
All I know is I’m no longer excited about the season and Ramsey’s sale (and everything behind it) has pissed me right off.

      1. Badger123 avatar
        Badger123

        It’s 100% in the script.
How many goals get scored in the last minute or two?
If you wrote that script, it would happen exactly as written.
I’ve said for a while that there are too many of those incidences for it to be genuine.
How they manage to work it, I don’t know.
But I’m much more open to thinking this than specific instances in mid-season games.

        1. I hope you’re wrong, Badger. Because if that’s ever proved, I along with thousands of others will be completely done with football. I’m not far from that now, tbh.

        2. But do the players know the script, like the wrestlers? Or are the officials the ‘agents’? The players surely can’t know, but they score the goals. So it can’t be scripted. Can it?

Thanks for the memories, Leroy. Some tremendous finishes here – not sure why it went wrong last season.

Yeah, sad to see his little smiley face leave VP. All the best at Roma!

  20. There’s not much positivity coming out of VP. Players going out such as Bailey and Dendoncker today. Another link for Buendia to Leeds again! Meanwhile we seem more interested in players aged 18-20 destined to be loaned out and probably never seen in our first team, before they are sold at a small profit.
I maintain my feeling that we will finish around 8th this season with a good run in the Europa League before we bottle it in the quarter or semi final. I’m still pissed that we had the opportunity to be in the Champions League again but blew it against a shite Man Utd team. Yes the referee cost us a 1-0 lead but we were awful when we should have won or at least drawn. Players, Emery and the rest of the coaching staff just didn’t turn up one of the most important games of the season! Plus I HATE Man Utd which made it worse.
Brentford on Saturday is a game we must win. Their forward line has been decimated and they have an inexperienced new head coach. Even a draw is unthinkable. Expect angry Villa fans if we don’t win.

      Spot on Holte.
It should never have come down to us needing a point on the last day.

  21. Gutted Dougie is heading to Forrest. Who could have imagined that 2 seasons ago!

    1. Noooooooooooooooo!!! 😫😫😫😫🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 what the f*** is going on??? How can we allow that to happen? Villa made him! Bring him home, FFS!

      1. 25 million and he’s only 27! 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
        I think I’m done.

          We don’t have any money!

Well we do but we’re not allowed to spend it!

We are still reaping the ‘rewards’ of the piss poor management under Learner, Dr Tony, Purslow and Gerrard. NSWE had to invest £m’s to keep us afloat which has put us on the back foot PSR wise to the point where NS had to get personally involved and sort it all out.

Whereas PSR is a sledgehammer to crack a nut Villa’s history of poor financial management post Deadly is also, in part, to blame.

And Nuno can stop f***ing bleating about their transfer window!

        2. Prediction; Forest will finish higher than us. If Dougie hits the form of two seasons ago, which he will, its gonna be painful to watch. Chris Wood to get 20 league goals comfortably. Meanwhile…
Feels like we’re being left behind and everythings stacked against at the moment 😔

          1. I was gutted when Dougie left but felt consolation that he wasn’t playing for another premier league team. Now he’s going to bloody Forest for a modest transfer fee, I’m feeling well pissed off.
We have sold the women’s team and one of our own for what? A shopping trip to the middle of the Lidl?
Surely Monchi isn’t at our club for other clubs cast offs! We might as well let Monchi go to a club that can afford players of quality. Villa might as well save his wage bill for SCR and appoint a pub team scout. When Emery declares he is unable to take us any further with all the restrictions, Villa fans should protest outside the Premier League HQ for systematically ruining our club and its hopes of winning anything.

            1. How can we lose Dougie for 30 and get Onana for 50 when money’s the issue? How the F does that work???

            2. ‘Systematically ruining’ is exactly right.

BFR, I have a sneaky feeling he’s past his best, as daft as it sounds.
And I always say you should never go back as it rarely works, as much as we have quite a good record for that (Taylor, Young, Cowans)

          1. He’s only recently turned 27, Badger. As for going back, it feels like he didn’t leave, rather we had to ship him out for a year to comply with the rules and avoid a financial shitstorm. He even indicated on his social media that he wanted to come back. Anyway, all academic. But I do think he’ll do wonders for Forest, especially with Wood firing the bullets and Gibbs-White alongside him…

Wasn’t there something about him leaving with his girlfriend to join the same club?
Put it this way, Juve seem like they couldn’t wait to get rid .
And now I believe he’s split up with his girlfriend.
My money says his head isn’t right.
              Let’s see.
Shame he had to go, but I’d expect to see much more of this sort of movement.

    Well done son.
No surprise to me at all.

    1. Badger me old mucker if it were down to you he’d have been Knighted, awarded The Ballon d’Or and just for good measure the Nobel Peace Prize!
      😁😂

    2. “Later down the line, I want to be one of those incredible players people speak about, so to do that I have to do what they did and what they followed after. It’s a nice recognition, but there’s more to win and I can’t wait.”
(Looks like Chesty is just passing through)

      1. Maybe he means win with Villa, Ron?

        1. Mate he’s off as soon as the right offer from the right club comes along.
