Villa – Man city; Are we ready for this?

Citeh

It’s all about the goals isn’t it?

Man city come to Villa park today having scored 26 of them, whereas we’ve averaged a measly 0.6 per home game this season, a figure that’s to be honest, rubbish.
Hence you would think that’s going to be the theme of today’s game; how many can they score? and how many can we prevent?

Fortunately, football isn’t always that easy to predict, so while you never know, we might get something out of the game. But it’s looking doubtful isn’t it?

Man city have a few injuries.
Sergio Aguero is out, as are David Silva, Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta.
That’d be a major loss for most clubs, but they have plenty in reserve.
Gael Clichy and hissing Delph are back in contention and it’ll be interesting to see if the latter manages to rub the splinters from his backside. No doubt he might get a run-out if we’re getting caned, but I don’t really want to talk about him.

As for Villa, I believe there’s a chance Westwood might not have got over the knock he got on the head the other night, but the interesting one is Gabby. There doesn’t seem to have been any news about him; not that I’m looking for any.
Otherwise, I think we’re all good.

So the question we’re all asking is who is Remi Garde going to play? and how is he going to play them?
Ayew and on reflection, Sinclair and Sanchez looked decent on Monday, so I’d expect them to start.
As for the rest, well your guess is as good as mine.
Likewise how we’re going to set up.
Garde likes a 4-4-2, so perhaps we’ll see Gestede with Ayew up top? I don’t know.

The bigger problem for the manager is the defence, but he hasn’t had much time to work with the team, so I’m not expecting much to have changed in that area.
Richards will probably get straight back in after his suspension, but who will he play with? I don’t think many of us would choose Lescott, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
While I know many of us would like to see massive changes throughout the team, I’m not convinced we’re going to get them, if only for the reason that Garde won’t want to change it up too much.
Not that that would be a very valid reason. The team’s been messed about with all season, so I doubt it would make much difference.
Whatever, I just hope Garde chooses those who’ve looked best in training, which is about all we can ask.

Looking at the form, Man city are going really well and they were apparently very good against Sevilla mid-week.
And we all know where we are, so I won’t harp on it.

My head says something like a 4-1 loss, which is what I’m going for, but my heart says we can do better than that and at least hold the score down for something like a 1-2.

I’d say I’m worried, but I think I’m beginning to go past that now.

    That’s a decent looking side 🙂

  4. Does anyone know why Adama Traore is never mentioned is he still injured?

Perhaps we’re worried about having to cough up £75k a week for him?
Or perhaps more likely that the club are keeping him out of the limelight after that story came out.

      1. I think it could be something like that aswell Badger but he looks one of the few very talented players in the squad who can create goals so if he can help keep us up that salary has been earned especially when you consider next years tv deal

We will win 2.1 today Badger remember you heard it here first. No silva or augero they are not the same without them. And no Lescott or flabby for us. He’s picked a decent team imo.

I like the cut of your jib Ooah.
          I wish I was as confident 🙁

      3. I’ve seen that opinion a lot but why would Lerner agree to that contract and then be like, don’t play him, don’t wanna pay him 75k a week wages. Just sounds odd that he would actually okay the signing and the contract they gave him.

Exactly what I was about to say. Well done Remi!!!!!!

This is where we get a steer on how good our new players are…….Ayew up front finally. Looks like we’ll at least try and pass the ball.

I’m going to make a Missing poster featuring lori, Kozak and Traore.

  12. I’ve heard a few people saying apparently Traore hasn’t settled in well, could well be why he isn’t selected at the moment.

Looks a much better line up finally.

Hallelujah. A Villa manager who plays his probable best side and not favourites!!

    Very encouraging.
We’re definitely trying to play it instead of just banging it in.
Perhaps we’re just a little too patient though?

  15. We seem afraid of putting the ball in the box. We keep getting into decent positions but then just pass it around. Ayew needs something to feed off of.

They’ve probably been to look for better chances, so it’s understandable,
    I’m not knocking it.
We look to have better shape,

  17. Probably but we’re not getting it into Ayew and he’s quality and needs to get the service.

  18. Wow Richards, way to be out of position.

Well that looks a promising start. City have looked pretty ordinary though. I’d take nil nil right now. A clean sheet would be a good start. Veratout looks good on the ball. Viva la France ! Sorry meant Villa !

  23. Well if you don’t thought it’s an improvement I do, lot better in midfield and think some players we’ve had a go at are playing lot better. it’s still anyone’s game, come on give me more dislikes.

  1. No Barkley or Bogarde! Although Martinez is in despite Turkish transfer window still being open.

  2. We must have made a profit on our transfer dealings (despite BBC saying we made a loss of £10.5m) as…

  3. I’m strangely okay with the window now. I think that Lindelof will be a better sub than Disasi and that…

  4. We have signed Boyd but as he’s under 18 it has to be ratified by FIFA and can take a…
